@@MoneyAhoy Thank you for this information! Unfortunately I have an Australian shepherd mix and a German shepherd mix. Is their an alternative, since it sounds as if they react to this ? Thanks in advance for any guidance
Yes! Thanks for your efforts. Some vets are good I know. But some will just keep gouge at your wallet knowing how much we love our friends. Today I'm lifted up and will subscribe. Thanks again Michael
Sadly they need to gouge in order to stay in business. They have student loans to pay off. Blame it on medical and veterinary schools for profiting off would-be professionals that are desperately needed.
Thank you man for the information
No problem 👍

If my dogs have had Heartgard and did well on it, would they be safe to use this? I think they would be since Heartgard has ivermectin as the active ingredient, but just want to be sure.
Yes - just calculate your dose properly. Good luck!
You aren't lying about some dog's being sensitive !! I've got a Rottweiler/Malinois mix who got SUPER sick after deworming.. my Pitbulls never have any issues
Interesting - I wonder if the dosage was off? These sorts of breeds are not normally sensitive.
@@MoneyAhoy good question.. I typically just use the liquid ivermectin & do it myself. With my Rotti mix , he was a little wormy after I got him & the vet gave him one of the 4 way dewormer pills

Thanks so much for this, you saved me a lot of money and worry. I just gave my dog the Ivermectin Sheep Drench. After which, I gave him a treat because he acted like the Ivermectin tasted really bad! 😆
Yeah - I'm sure it is not good tasting! Our dogs don't like it either!
Does anyone have any experience with administering Ivermectin to dogs in battling cancer, specifically TCC? I keep coming across holistic medical info that there has been numerous success stories of humans treating various types of cancer using a dog dewormer such as Ivermectin. I have concerns that administering monthly dosages is not enough... I'd have to imagine that to battle cancer cells (especially in the urinary tract, bladder region) a more frequent dosage would need to be administered? Perhaps weekly? Any info anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
It is possible to harm/ paralyze/ or even kill dogs with ivermectin. Overdosing is deadly. Daily use is HARMFUL for dogs. Deadly for (roughly) 10 or so cattle breeds of dogs. You mention cancer being treated in humans with a dog dewormer. That is likely referring to Fenbendazole made by Merck. Not the same thing at all in this case of using ivermectin. Dogs are far more prone to harm from improper use than humans or other animals. Looks up your breed of dog and research how it can be harmful FIRST!! Do. No. Harm.
I know this video is old, but I hear you said you give your 30lb dog .3cc but the link you gave suggests less for a 30lb dog. I wonder if you can tell me why you give your dog more than the recommended dose listed?
Does anyone know the safe dosage of this product to give a pet mouse with ear/ fur mites?
I have a chocolate labrador it is not on the list that mentioned on your blog in this method being unsafe. however my vet has been giving him interceptor. will it be OK for me to switch to this method?
Same thing - check out this article: www.moneyahoy.com/how-to-save-money-on-heartworm-medicine-for-your-dog/
It is safe for labs - just not herding dogs (which a lab is not). Good luck!!
My vet retired and hired a group of young new vets. They gave my GSD the wrong heartworm treatment and my poor boy had random, uncontrollable, projectile diarrhea!!! Called my vet and they couldn't explain why that happened but said I could buy their other brand but they wouldn't refund the other one... I miss my old vet!!! 😭🤬
Geez - that's terrible that they wouldn't refund your money. I would find a new vet for sure! They could have really made your dog very sick or die!!!

I have a yorkie terrier hes 3 to 4 months old and the vet is charging me 10 a pill for the heartworm and flee. Does this work on him bc paying 10 per pill is expensive. Thank u

hello, i am getting a American Staffordshire Terrier female she is three years old and i was about to adopt her and was told she has heart worms will this help?
This only prevents heartworms from forming. If your dog already has heartworms, you should see a vet. That can be real serious if not treated!
Black walnut kills the heart worms
I have 5 dogs ( 3 french bulldogs and 2 dachshunds) I want to put on a heartworm preventative, since something like heartgard would blow my budget this seems like a good alternative. It's been several months since this video, are you personally still having good results and your dogs are showing no adverse reactions?
I only made the video 4-5 months ago, but I've been giving it to them for years now, and no issues for me. So yes, I would recommend this as a way to save money as long as you follow dosing guidelines. Good luck!

0.15 cc :-). Half way between 0.1 and 0.2 ccs. If you have a small syringe, you can get to that just fine.

I have a 5-year-old male chihuahua. Will this be harmful or helpful to him?
It is OK to give this to chihuahuas. If your vet recommends heartworm medicine for your dog, then this is a viable option.
Is your dosage recommendations taking into consideration that this ivermectin is .08%, not 1%. Which I see in other videos. I am thinking I need to give .3cc to my 68lb dog, per your recommendations.

That dosage is on the lower side of things.
Can i use it on my small chihuahua dog that already has adult heartworms
No - if it has adult heartworms you should take your dog to the vet!
Get a doxycycline prescription from the vet.. keep giving ivermectin. Ivermectin will kill the larvae and the adult worms will die off in about a year. Doxycycline will shrink the size of the adult worms so they can’t do as much damage.
Tractor Supply has Durvet Ivermectin injectable give it orally in a little milk. It's cheap 44.99 for a 50 ml bottle.
Yep - I feel like a dummy for spending 10x+ on Heartguard all those years!
How do you dose the injectable? Also do you use the syringe with needle and then take the needle off or do you remove the top somehow?
Do you give it to your dogs orally or intravenously? And I haven't seen anything, in my research, on Husky's not being compatible. Do you have any info on Husky's?
I have tried ivermectin to my husky, and it's effective with no bad reaction
I give it orally - it is just a small syringe WITHOUT a needle.
What about a chihuahua
What if your dog has heart worms will it kill the ones existing and is it still safe to give or is this only to prevent
This medicine just kills the eggs, it won't kill worms if they are alive. But if you stop reproduction, they will eventually die out. Same for the chewables...

What about pit bulls
They are fine to use this - they aren't hearding dogs.
You practically named every dog breed that can't use ivermectin.
Do they have the same restrictions on the RX versions that have ivermectin as the active ingredient?
Yes these dogs cannot have Heartguard or other heartworm medicines which contain Ivermectin. There are dogs that just cannot safely have it. It's just a matter of science/genetics I guess :-).
Get a test done to see if they have the mutation that makes them sick.
I cant adminster shots, I dont even have a clue how?
This is a syringe without a needle. You just put it in the dogs mouth, shoot the liquid in, hold their snout closed and blow in their nose until they swallow. Just like giving them pill medicine.
The dog should have a mtd (multi teir drug) test. Not all cattle dogs have the gene
VERY IMPORTANT! Do not give Heartworm Medicine to your dog or this particular Med/ingredient that he’s mentioned- until your dog has first been tested at your Vet for Heartworm! Heartworm Medicine will make their condition much worse! Heartworm Meds are only prescribed to prevent Heartworm- not to treat it!

It doesn't kill them but it does shorten their life cycle and stops them from reproducing. Vets call this the slow kill method. If you're dog has an active infection only a vet would know for sure and they are the onkly guys that can administer melarsomine to kill them off.
