Loving this thick and fast upload schedule Jody! Also loving this watch, really going to struggle to stop myself picking one up; didn't even realise the marine diver was a grail but I think this watch ticks just as many boxes since looking deeper into it's inspiration. Keep it up!

I got the San Martin Marine Master "tuna can" version of this watch and I must say I am in love with is watch. It also has a signed crown and it says "Diver's 300m" on the case back. But given that it is a homage, take that for what you will.

I started with a sharkey mm300 with a one off wave dial and now i own the new limited edition sla047j1 mm300 island green… i will keep the homage(on leather) but it is like the subby… if you want to experience the real deal you have to buy the real deal… the pollish on the seiko is unique
San Martin has great customised dial serveice at minimal surcharge. Looking forward to a JOMW version soon!

Could not agree more, i just received my 11.11 sale Proxima/Himq Sharkmaster in light blue and rubberstrap, its a fantastic watch, and the build quality and "feel" are above all the rest my collection of Seiko, Orient, Heimdallr etc., and the real hammer was the price, 170 us, delivered
Believe me, sometimes I watch your videos just to listen to you talk and come with top quality punchlines while poking fun at watches!
I like this watch, I think the Lume is really impressive for the price. The dimensions are nice, it’s a heavy watch that makes a statement. I would probably be going for a blue dial variant myself!

One of the only Chinese homages which all use the exact same case. That means for the same price as the San Martin you can get one with either an ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200 rather than the NH35A from Heimdallr or Proxima or a PT5000 for around £200.

How’s the overall quality? Are the indices applied appropriately? Does the bezel line up?
Everything is great,its 5 secons slow per day,the bezel is kinda hard to turn,it does line up,it wears alot smaller than the spec,I've not taken it off yet...great watch
Really I have no complaints awsume quality,wow what a watch...I love it
I just ordered the Proxima version of the same watch on Amazon for $219.
The only real difference being is that the Proxima comes with the cheap potato chip clasp, but the clasp is only connected with push pins and is therefore an easy fix.
As to the loom on the bezel insert; I purchased the Proxima with the ceramic bezel insert and the loomed pip. Normally I would go along with Jody on this and get the fully lumed bezel insert, but the Proxima model I have purchased has guilt applied in this has on the dial and gold markers on the insert giving it more of a vintage appeal.

I wonder if the shark logo confuses some customers who are thinking Heimdalrr when they see it.
It is good watch at a fair price which is all we ask for as a customer.

Agree. I think this brand is offering the value for price Seiko used to and is now trying to go up market. They do an SKX homage with better specs than the SKX for $150 and the Seiko is trending around $250. I could get a turtle for that with a better movement on the Seiko side, but even San Martin do the turtle homage with better specs for less as well. Crazy.
The Citizen ProMaster Tough has a Monoblock construction, sapphire crystal end screw down crown, for way less than $300. But it is an Ecodrive, not an automatic.
And titanium coating.

As the saying goes: Imitation is the greatest flattery.
It seems to be able to replicate the original Seiko Marinemaster SBDX021 / SLA019 in most areas such as the case and bracelet. However, the shade of green is very much off from the original. That detracts from the appreciation of the original green shade of the Seiko. But overall, a fine effort of emulation at that price.

Actually nice looking watch for certain people, but you would easily be at home reviewing more expensive watches which I have seen you do, but that is down to your knowledge and talent, and feel very impressed that your efforts on your channel gives us all the benefit for different classes of watch. Nice video, keep up the good work 👍👍, but the Citizen Promaster Tough has a monocoque case for under $300, it might be a quartz and not a dive watch, but it does have 200 meters of water resistance so it could go in the water
The "Ray Mears" monocoque 2018 even has 300 mr Wr. San Martin 62 Mas on it's way. Probably bought my last Seiko with the 007 pimped with Sapphire by Monsterwatches. 300 bucks for the new 5 "Sports" is just silly.
@@JeeGee114 well said, while I think the new Seiko Sports 5 models look good since I like the look of the old SKX cases, but the increased retail prices for new Seiko models make for poor value, this is true not just for the new 5's

I picked the Steeldive. Good quality and for a much cheaper price.
Come on man , the things damn looks, specs are solid, case is MM cool and lume is killer. After watching this for the second time I am placing an order because I am not spending MM money.

I bought the blue dial SN038-G. This watch is amazing..!! I have Seiko divers from 250 to a 1000 euro, but this San Martin Seiko MM homage is better looking then any Seiko I have. Sapphire coated crystal, lumed ceramic bezel, milled clasp, insane lume. This watch was €250, but can easily compete with a Seiko 12 times that price. The watch feels more like a Breitling than a Seiko. The polishing is so perfect, the dial is perfect, the hands, the allignment. The watch looks stunning in any light. There is simply nothing wrong with this watch, regardless of the price. You have to hold it in your hand, feel the watch, feel the weight. Bring a loupe and you won't believe they can produce this quality for that price. But you have to be able to wear it. It is chunky and heavy. For my 7.25'' wrist, the watch comes in at 206 gram with two links removed. Try it, just try it. You can always sell it if you can't wear it.
If you're interested in this watch I'd buy it from San Martin. I saw the seiko Marine master in titanium with a rubber strap on the Internet the other day and it was priced well over £5000 pounds!. So if you like the watch get it from San Martin.
Jody thanks for this video I’m a huge Seiko fan I own a Padi Turtle and a Blumo and I’ll at least for now not be able to afford a real Seiko marine master but this is the perfect alternative 😀👍🏻
Hey Jody, I just bought a variation of this one, the HIMQ marine master, a homage of the Seiko Marinemaster 300M SLA015, with the light bue dial. I will comment further when I receive the watch.

Too bad about the chapter ring...I have the Merkur version of this watch and I am amazed at the build quality. I modded mine to add a lumed bezel insert and a new dial and added a Seiko MM300 clasp. It is a fantastic watch...if a bit heavy. The Crafter Blue rubber strap is a must if you decide to keep this one :)

If you're looking for another affordable monobloc, the Citizen Promaster Tough is a good option. Not the prettiest thing, but built like a tank.

Beware of San Martin! i bought the Datejust homage and received it with the dial completely misaligned, they refused to send me the free return ticket promised and wanted me to pay 45 euros to return it. Aliexpress didnt help either because according to them, the seller was communicating even though they didnt help. Very disappointed by the watch and this awful experience.

Having failed to snag a Vanuatu yesterday from helm😩, I’ve been trawling through jodys videos for another chunky diver and found this SM. Had a look at the SM watch seiko should of built but the marine master got the nod. Took the plunge and purchased the blue one from aliexpress about £244. The Lume looks pretty decent. Not too worried about jodys niggles, just hope the nh35 is an accurate one. Thanks again Jody for the review. 👍👍 will give my feedback when the watch arrives.
Hi Jody, picked up my blue dial San Martin today and got to say it’s a stunner and I’m very satisfied. Like you said, inspect the watch before taking the stickers off is very wise.Had to take out 2 links and 2 steps in on the micro adjust on the clasp. First time I’ve done it on a bracelet with the pins and collars, not to bad if I say so myself. There’s plenty of videos showing you how to do it, just take your time. This watch is insane for the money paid. I’ve got the tissot black dial star of the sea powermatic 80 diver at £620 that you personally did not rate or not your cup of tea. The Lume is nowwhere near as good as this SM. I’ve also got the 12 marker lining up spot on😂. There’s one thing for sure, I’ll be using Aliexpress again in the future. The only minor niggle I’ve got is, I ordered the date window watch and got the one without, but I’ve decided to keep the watch as it doesn’t really bother me at the end of the day. So there you have it, another happy bloke that’s got one more watch to the collection.
P.s looks like SM gain is Helms loss at the minute.

It's very easy to print a WR-rating on a dial, but I am inclined to trust this one around the pool.

Only other monoblock watch for $300-ish I know of is the Citizen Promaster Tough. Similar in that it's a single piece case but a different style of watch and a different type of movement.

That's a serious chunk of watch! I'd love an MM300, but this would at least somewhat satisfy the desire plus be a good way to tell if I'd even like that much watch on my wrist.
The watch is actually less expensive on the company's website than it is on Ali Express.

San Martin clasps look suspiciously like they come from Strapcode. As Strapcode charges $35 for that style, that's a good thing!
Except for the Seiko 5, Seiko seems determined to move upmarket. Even their solar quartz chronographs have doubled in price of late.
And they ship Strapcode out of Hong Kong.

I like this watch, and I like this brand. It's nice to see homages to something other than Rolex. But I don't get why they cost so much if other well made homages go for under $100, and an NH35 is like $25 on Aliexpress. I mean the Invicta pro diver was both - an homage with an NH35, and it was under $100 on Amazon.
Yeah but in the end it was still an invicta.
NH35 goes for $50 not 25. It's easy to see why this watch costs more than $100, other micro brands would sell this same watch for $500.
BEWARE! I received a San Martin watch yesterday and the bracelet is too small. I tried to return it and was rejected. So I appealed and they told me to send them a detailed video showing how the watch doesn't work. I told them I will keep the watch and not order from them again. (I own 3 other SM and 4 Pagani Design). I have never had a size problem before so I didn't expect an issue.

I'm not really a big fan of homages, call me whatever names you want... However, I think Seiko does this to themselves with their absurd pricing.

I've lost some interest in them. Original is always more interesting. I make exceptions when they're well-executed. San Martin makes a Subby homage that looks really good.

I looked at the new Seiko Willard - not the limited one, the newer styled re-release €1400 - way too much. A steel dive 1970SD , is identical to the original *save the logo on the dial, NH35 movement, sapphire glass and ceramic bezel for €100 - the cheapest you can get a Seiko Turtle with that spec is €500 odd. Seiko's value not good nowadays - homage wise, i'll do it on a Seiko - but wouldn't wear a fake Rolex.
Just bought a turtle padi pepsi and im buying an homage by steeldive as well this week. The homage out specs it in almost every way, so im excited. The only benefit of the genuine is you can always get your money back! Which i really like.
16mm thick? Not saying it's a chunk, but I expected it to do the truffle shuffle.....but it's certainly a fantastic looking watch. Great homage. Given it's a monobloc at that price you do have to wonder how well it's truly made. But, as per most dive watches, given the most water it will see is rain I'm sure it will last very well. Nice unusual watch 👍

That looks like a Strapcode bracelet, minus the chamfering on the mid-links. I like it, though it's too big for. I'm impressed so far with San Martin! I'd have a look that "62MAS."
There are milled in the same manufactures so i tread!
I have a lot of Seiko watches....A couple with sapphire crystal( that I didn’t have to mod to get it ) and a couple with higher end movements. The problem is you have to step into their mid range watches and above to get these things... this is one of those watches that I have no problems with buying an homage. If the quality is better than the original, and it’s considerably less expensive, Then buying the original is kind of silly right?

Nice watch, but it does bother me quite a bit that they're using the same text on the dial as the Seiko watch.
I picked up an amusing "homage" a couple of weeks ago... A slightly smaller, no brand on it at all F-91W... Like a small version of the Casio watch that saw me through secondary school... At only £1.99 I had to buy it, a saving of £6. 😆

I bought the Steeldive MM and boy what a watch! Its so well built
I'm probably the only one, but I actually prefer a single lume pip on the bezel. The cleaner look makes it easier to tell the (elapsed) time in a pinch imo. I'm still looking for a sapphire SKX bezel insert with a single pip or triangle btw, if anyone knows where to find one let me know pls.

It's an amazing watch especially in the no date dial variant , I picked up the blue and its stunning .... word of warning though... DO NOT TAKE IT OFF the bracelet or getting it back on is a Bitc# and a half .... I would rather just buy another for only straps then ever deal with getting those end links back on holy crap !!! Oh and I wish they would add screw in links vs the dumb push pins and that piece of crap push pin tool that comes and breaks on the 2nd use but that's nit picking vs putting back on that bracelet.
That bit at the end sounds like Jody somehow managed to make it seem like we're him listening to himself on tape 😬😬😂
