What type of fucking genius decided to modulate reverb!? This fucking man. Truly every aspect of music production is used as a beat. Mind boggling. Imagine having the capability to put a beat to fucking static.
I always wished someone would ask Vince Clarke (Erasure) what he thought of Aphex Twin. Given that Clarke almost exclusively creates his sounds from scratch on analog synths.
RJ wasn't fucking about when he created this masterpiece
+TheHilikus89 fuuuck no...
He was never fucking around. He's got the whooooooole world...
..In his acid-dripping hands! ;)
Best use of a harpsichord sound since JS Bach.
:D
Bach is one of my all time faves! Most people won't agree with this comment, but I definitely see what you mean.

@@MCLUHANVIDEOS oh cool thx for this
swear to god this track will always have a very special place in my heart, first ever piece of this scene i experienced and ive never been the same since, thank you aphex twin and thank you wipeout
I reckon WipeOut is responsible for introducing a lot of people to great electronic music. just got into the franchise recently and I'm positively amazed at the sheer amount of choice tunes on display in each game. the devs know their stuff.
@@sunsetman22 definetely, it really sucks that they killed off studio liverpool/psygnosis, the wipeout series still has so much potential
I forget about Wipeout yes. Good times. And i feel really old now lol
Richard is life
THIS. Plus, crazy how UA-cam just pulled up this blast from the past on my homepage.
2:02 is still my favorite Electronica beat of all time
Same :D
i fucking hear you brother
number 4 on this
YoursTruly_GTG Aye...'tis gud.
If you listen its the chords to Blue Monday. Its dope tho.
this track is just so beautiful man.. I cant even explain how it just effects me every time. 0:19 The robot part mixed with the drum beat makes me feel invincible, unstoppable, on the verge of greatness! 1:31 When the slow harpsichord part comes in it reminds me of how fragile life is and how peculiar everything is, 1:46 when the robot part comes back its like a "everything IS fragile and peculiar BUT FUCK IT! LETS DANCE!"
Can't wait to emerge as an intelligent alien monkey from a neighbouring solar system 5 billion years from now. Trace the origins of your being back to the innards of a deceased star. Matter.

This song always restores my faith in existence.
I'm in love with myself, and you all. Be well, you who read this and partake of these amazing sonic arrangements.
Damn right!
@@ClandestineMerkaba I WILL THANK YOU
To imagine this beauty of a track was used in a Wipeout title... simply amazing.
@Coby Williams TDR did the graphic design work for Wipeout as well. They post about it too often on Insta.
1:46 that robotic sound is amazing
It amazes me how this doesn't waste even a split second. I can't say I know much about electronic music, but this really touches the brain, the heart in a way and definitely the body...like a burst of energy. Hands down
As far as electronic music goes - shit, as far as Aphex’s discography goes - this is (in my opinion) one of the most well organised, well structured orchestrations to exist. The layering is nothing short of exquisite. Sonically, this is a thousand-hour, handwoven Persian rug, constructed with the finest fibres known to man - not some cheap, machine made (the irony!) replication.
With Fenix Funk I find that, with each listen, I explore a separate pocket of sound, some channel of reverb that seems purposefully there, or the joyful location of a synth springing in the background teasing a return. It’s the musical equivalent of pond water; okay, it might seem a bit different, but until you put it under a microscope, you don’t realise how alive it really is.
I totally agree
I decided to go with some newer Richard just to shake things up a bit. I also just finished adding a Classics playlist to my channel. Will be back with more uploads soon. . . later guys : )
2:57 One of my favorite moments in music history.
Leon Stoffelen genius
Leon Stoffelen 3:54 and on is just like nothing else ever created
Mine has to be when the really nice synths come in at 2:20
I'ts Yes or Progressive level.
It's as good as anything he's ever done. Sublime
I want this to be the song played at my funeral. It would bring me back to life for five extra minutes.
Just play it on repeat, then you'll be eternal ;)
@@TennysonPesco haha I'll try to keep my memory.
This is Richard David James' masterpiece.
***** Magnum Opus then
@@ThereMayBeLions that means the exact same thing.
@@ThereMayBeLions I think his magnum opus is CIRCLONT6A [141.98][syrobonkus mix] but this is amazing. Alspacka is a close second!
Everything he released is a masterpiece lol he’s the greatest electronic composer of all time

mattknox you're in Fenix funk castle my friend.
In an alternate reality where the bong smokes you end up combusting and turning in to smoke. You then travel in to some dude's lungs and transport in to the bloodstream and go on a cool journey, pumped by heart.... mmm men
Astral plane
Those harpsichord flourishes at the end with those beautiful melancholic pads...just unbelievable...and the choice to have the harpsichord sound like it's malfunctioning at 4:37 is just too fucking perfect
I'm in my studio and I can confirm that this was recorded at about A-426 Hz tuning. Making it close to A-432 Scientific Tuning, and VERY far from standardized A-440. I am an A-432 composer and find it quite fascinating since his youth, when opening his first synthesizer, he looked at the preset tuning (A-440 Hz) and said to himself that it must be a conspiracy. He never looked back. God bless 'em.
432 is not scientific tuning... All tuning frequencies are completely redundant - what matters more is harmonic relationships which remain the same in 12-TET.
@@efmusic04 Actually A432hz is called Scientific Pitch _by definition._ Look it up. // Also, check out my work here at: _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole._

One of my favourite ever
This is so machiavellian, class, a little bit melancholic. Awesome. I have no words for this.
Thanks for the upload. Thanks to Rich.
Machiavellian?
@@patbusch4610 See, if he told you the track would have to kill you. (but yeah I wanna know too)
@@aflindst hrm? I was confused how that adjective applied.
_"This is so machiavellian, class, a little bit melancholic. Awesome."_ - goes on to say "I have no words for this." ;-)
the drop that starts at 0:17 is... HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHgreatnessHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHprobably one of the best drops in music historyHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Jesus Christ 3:55 just eats my soul alive
never a dull moment
Love the funny hand claps in this one!
This is the most unreal production ive ever heard
Play this bad boy at 0.75 speed and it grooves HARD
Have to admit that it was interesting, especially the first minute was very interesting to experience at slower pitch.
Richard "D" James
D for Dick
3:57 is the best part for me!!
dude I love apex so much
This song like most of RDJ has a strange feeling... like the nostalgia of childhood and calm, peaceful places (like Cornwall where Rich grew) and the chaos that an adult has to live with, especially being a legend like him.
Such art beyond words
Nothing less than brilliant
I'm always late to these songs. A couple years late, that is.
Nothing less the genius melodies
Nothing less the genius composers
+Walt Kovacs But that simple melodie... where does he get it?!?!?!?
I think it comes from pure feeling, the kind that is not always there..
he's a genius... i couldnt find such beautiful melodies
This Track Fuels My Mind And Soul
God I Love RDJ
You're uploading Chosen Lords? Yay :D there's some really great stuff on this one.
I've only ever heard the Wipeout PSP rip.... This is gorgeous T_T
1:15 - 1:47
I never felt so much Peace and Love at once. It's just different.
i used to listen a lot to analord during a pretty depresive winter in north europe and that part is what i had looping in my mind when i did acid in the end of that winter, was pretty deep stuff. this track will never exist for me without that memory. trip was pretty rough, but felt so calm and at peace the next day, perhaps thats what u feel when u listen to that part. that happened 6 years ago.
Ohhh yes! One of my favorites
Truly a great album!!
imo this is the best Richard track.
freakin future jazz!!!!!
i think these chords 1:28 are also in mt stmichel st michael mount
It is very similar style in general, some noisy chaotic action blended and changing with simple calm minimalistic classical kind of sounds.
@@mantasisganaitis2281 nah, it's far less chaotic than mt st michel. the melody is much more explicit and seems to sound similar throughout the song. this is why 2:02 sounds so good - after two minutes, you finally hear the bass that resonates with what you've heard before
1:15 2:02 genius.
The drums at the very very start of this sound like Joe Jackson’s 1982 tune Steppin’ Out and the Korg KR 55
No words can do this justice so i wont try, is he human?!
This was my riding on the bus music for a certain period of time.
Amazing!!! Genius!!!! Love it!!!!

3:52 made me a bit sad.

Stumbled on the Chosen Lords compilation unbeknownst of the Analord releases, years ago. First 20 seconds made me smile real wide, and every bit of the rest of the compilation "yup, he still has it, big time"
What a great compilation hard too choose a favorite track. Amazing how he makes acid sounds
