It's like he always finds a way to make the synths cry out in unity over the tragedy of the human experience we all have to face on our own but this music is something collective that brings all that frustration and melancholy out to the real world for people to resonate with, come back to and preserve the emotion for however long the data is available to us. It's really quite a noble thing musicians and artists do, not really recognized often enough for how much value it can bring to people's life. To be able to transfer your internal state so accurately and intricately into sound or any medium is something i can only strive for, but it feels a lot better than not trying at all.
The bassline in this song is insane. I wonder how he arranges these songs, if he hears a certain section first and builds off of that or if he has it all planned out before. I know he tinkers with machines to get weird sounds, maybe he’s got a memory bank of sounds and remembers them later.
Judging by the percussion sounds and general production style (lots of layering, more range of timbre and shit?) this is like a Syro era B side probably right?
Several charts off of Syro were in fact extras from The Tuss era. RDJ has stated that himself. It's pretty relevant in tunes like 4 bit 9d and Earthportal mix, very similar tones/oscillations and rythm.
Tuss tracks and a lot of Syro were made around 2006/2007. See also Analord 10, which was released in 2005, although feels like it should/could have been released 20 years after drukqs and still felt futuristic
How do you know his aliases are him? Do you just listen to it and think "this sounds like aphex, this must be aphex" or is there a way to be shure that its him?
It was confirmed long ago because when BMG bought Chrysalis music they briefly published the songwriter details for the Chrysalis catalogue online. There was link... IntErwEbs iS tRAnsiEnt.
Also judging by this track title it seems he used a Roland S-770 sampler unit rack, not sure what the 3000 refers to but powertran is the Powertran Transcendent 2000 synth. With the release of these unreleased tracks he seems to have given more info on what gear hes been using.
CAT 189 yeah I was just listening to the Korg tracks cuz I bought a monologue and noticed he used an MR16 on Korg 1b, which I find pretty interesting as it's a sort of rare drum machine that is still pretty cheap despite being 30~ years old. It's pretty janky sounding but it was the first drum machine I fell in love with so it was cool to hear him use it.
Hot Skillet Mama sometimes when you hear something so good you just make a decision that nothing can be better than this. But usually that feeling you get is attached to an emotion that might not resonate the same with another person. So someone might not understand why a person would think this song is his best when obviously it’s ziggomatic
It's crazy how you'll hear the same themes repeated in an Aphex track, but very rarely exactly the same way twice. It's always changing and evolving.
Permanent permutations
Progressive genre
Yes. Richard is liquid
Richard has never copied nor pasted in his life.
@@thegrimyeaperthat’s just a lie there’s so many songs where he used the exact same things as other songs
very pleasant and nostalgic to watch the blue, clear sky on the cover during the dark winter
and the track is cool too
The covers somehow always adds something i can't put words to and you just did
RDJ has a way of making songs sound sad and happy simultaneously
Art imitates life eh
The word you're looking for is melancholy, and yes, he is the maestro.
@@ShootyMooty Melancholy is more just another word for sad, I think bittersweet would fit better
Similar feel to nostalgia
What do you mean? That's like saying a poo smells good and bad at the same time. It is not possible
Aphex Twin is the GOAT
Nah man that's a sheep
,
Baaaing right now you dig?
this may be my favorite RDJ track. love that new album cover too.
Insanely beautiful. The Tuss is his best second alias, no joke.
Nah can't beat Power Pill innit. Large.
The first one being AFX ?
It was basically his main alias during that time.
Field of Senses
His first alias being Richard D James, he is really Simon Cowell. The man is a legend, yet nobody knows...
What's your favorite alias?

Genuinely profound. As another musician striving to do the same, have a like.
could not have said it better myself, your comment is like finding someone who likes this aswell
Wtf is this pompous shit
Very well said homie thanks for sharing. kindred thoughts and heart.
57 Untitled Weeping Synth by Microlith is a great example of this
Aphex twin is some of the best electronic out there
1:06 PANNING is godly
!
The melody sounds like bells chiming and echoing in the distance. It’s very lovely.
The breeziest synths never not before gone come.
Love those Synth pads at the beginning feels like I'm floating!
one of my favorites
3:00 to 3:29 is so unique , it sounds like lucid dreaming or some previous life memory of sort, so surreal.
the whole song kinda makes room for this part
Also this part 3:24 sounds so familiar to me I swear to God i played game that had this kind of music
what a good day to be alive
Po uet pouet 🙂
c'est le nom de mon chat
Po uet c'est mignon 😄 Longue vie à ton chat 🙂
elle te souhaite une longue vie aussi !
Best cover art ever
just the outro alone makes this one of his best
so melancholic!
One of the best tracks I've heard in awhile....
man it's just a beautiful song
Track for a beautiful japanese person.
This song is beautiful and you can dance to it ❤️💯
If I ever made a Japanese friend i will send them this song
And if I ever made a vlog to Japan i will also use this song
He went modest on this one, yet couldn't resist to include that modal change. Its like he does it all for us. He cares, because we do.
This is beautiful. Always curious about why the really good unreleased tracks were left off the album.
yep, this is legitimately the case with all of his releases.
2 out 3 2017 tuss are superb really.
Beautiful song tbh. 🥺 🥺
Thank you for uploading this! I love you! : )
Complete fcking masterpiece 💖💖
So cool, I about wore all the other tuss out. Fresh Tuss in due time.
Gorgeous
Anyone else feel like the concept art for Braindance reeaally suits sheeps?
F-ING GORGEOUS. Thank.
a masterpiece
thank you richard:)

these rubbery acid basslines are really fucking hard to compose convincingly and with the right bounce and swing
Yeah it's insane
beautiful song
this is amazing
0:52 has that background piano similar to Silent Hill 2's
I'd love to know how to replicate it
It's a Rhodes with tremolo and some kind of stereo filter
the breed of sheep in this picture is a dalesbred.

good job!
one day at a time
As long as we get ❤️
he doesn't even care, why do we care so much about him (Richard) ?
cause he’s the 🐐
It’s sounds really good when played on 0.75x speed
he shits his pants
the bassline sounds likw a heartbeat
erowid
Thanks for the upload mate you da man 👍
This could be his best work.
festa 76- this and midipipes 2 are rich at the top of his game
Great track, but Richard's magnum opus is XMAS_EVET10
@@porto2099 nop. I dont like rdj tracks that change theme inside...

Wow! Oh Richard!
so great
the parachute tho.....
so nice
unreleased? its self released on the mount fuji tape only that its called nagradrums 2+7 and on the 2017 reiusse of rushup edge
How do you know his aliases are him? Do you just listen to it and think "this sounds like aphex, this must be aphex" or is there a way to be shure that its him?
he admitted it. the tuss = 100% rdj. He also released this track as a part of the mt fuji set cassette
people have suspected the tuss is rdj for a while. but he confirmed it when he posted the tuss albums on his site (aphextwin.warp.net)
people have known the tuss is him way before that

in the clubs in ireland we heard this track released under the "The aphex twins" alias but you yanks 'n youngins dont know anything about that
Aha, tell me about it then :) did he really gig under "the aphex twins"?
Yessir he sure did sir!
Haha that's pretty cheeky.
fuck you
Damn dude, there seems to be a misunderstanding. Didn't mean anything bad by that... just thought it was humorous that he chose that name!
