Matthias, aka HiTech Farmer, is a 5th generation family farmer from Southwest Minnesota who promotes agriculture by capturing it through the lens of a camera, one video at a time. Do you think I made the right decision to get a new hydraulic block, or should I have tried to repair the old one? ⬇

That's a tough situation you were in, that's so much money! With having the hole off center from the original hole, could cause issues trying to center bolt hole again. I've had good luck with Time-Sert's. You could always try to repair it to have for a spare if you need it someday. With no help from John Deere or the supplier, overall, I think you made the right decision!

@@hoophilappreciate the information on the time-serts. Going to order some for “just in case” instances around the farm

Your analysis was right, when you considered the impact of a broken block during a busy day. Greetings from Dundalk, Ireland.

Hopefully the block doesn’t have any more issues for us

I seriously doubt drilling those threads out and putting in thread inserts will compromise the structural integrity of the block. I definitely would have tried that first.

That’s what I thought but it’s kind of a rock and hard place decision

Hi Mathias! You should have told me you needed help. I'd be glad to sit in the tractor, raising and lowering the planter for you! It may have taken a few minutes to get there from SE Michigan, but it would have been fun! LOL. Thanks for the video, stay safe, healthy and good luck with planting season!

😂😅 yeah that would’ve been quite a drive. It definitely took longer than it should’ve but I was happy to get the planter set and ready to plant!

Costly part for sure but cheaper than down time! I would still get a tiny bore scope off Amazon and snake down in those “proprietary “hydraulic passages to see if you can drill like you planned! And have it for a spare, @12:57 planter was keeping pretty good rhythm 🎶 😎 Have a great weekend Matthias,👋

That’s actually genius! Snake the camera down the block and show the world what’s inside 😅. Yeah the planter was getting its workout in, no doubt

Fendt has hydraulic remote fender control. Gotta switch to that nicer shade of green.

No one forced you to spend thirteen grand, not taking it to a machine shop for a professional assessment is ridiculous.
