    you can change the temp onthe touch. might not be by 1 degree thou. they have normal hot and hotter and 2 cooler ones as well. i have the touch impress the only thing i wash it had was the heated group. but run a shot of water and your fine. i think the milk comes on quicker than the dream to. takes to long and to much fiddling. i do like the dream though i would rayher the duo though

    Little misleading. Although not shown in degrees, you can adjust brew temp on the Touch and it has a PID as well. Why did you not mention?

    My wife brought me some civet coffee from the Philippines, I was wondering if you have any suggestions on how to brew it the best way? Thanks, love your videos!

      We'd recommend steeping methods like French press or Aeropress

    I love the look of the Ascaso, it reminds me of something off Wallace and Gromit

    Is the coffee grinder that comes along with the Breville Barista good enough compared to a standalone coffee grinder?

    • @jakubtomasik1016
      @jakubtomasik1016 6 років тому

      I think it's not so good like a separate grinder, because there is not enough space for big burr grinder, but it grinds well enough to pull a good espresso shot.

    Hey Grail, what are the pressurized and non pressurized baskets for? What's the difference?

    • @mamadouaziza2536
      @mamadouaziza2536 7 років тому +1

      Elijah Hassan
      Are you serious? LOL
      The pressurized basket is used for when your coffee grinds are not the most perfect size or finest for espresso. Also your tamp pressure does not need to be perfect to pull a good shot of espresso.
      A non pressurized basket is used when you have the skills to pull a perfect shot of espresso.
      Your coffee grind size must be perfect and your tamp pressure as well.

    Useless information: the PID itself isn’t really what makes the machine programmable. PID just describes the mathematics used by the controller to handle the feedback it gets from the sensors. It means the controller will respond to the feedback data in a more efficient and accurate way that will result in more stable temp management as opposed to a bunch of big spikes and drops around the target temp. You could have a programmable controller that saves presets and whatnot that doesn’t use PID feedback at all.

      Got any examples :). "With PID" has become the marketing-speak for manual coffee machines because it's so widespread as an electronic method, and come on - by this point, having a manual or semi-auto espresso machine is a hobby, and hobbyists demand ultra-specific three-letter acronyms, it's just how it is. I keep a marine fish tank, but I don't go to the aquarium shop to get some new coral, no I go to my LFS to buy SPS frags. Sometimes I take an FTS so the LFS can see how my SPS is getting on with my LPS and softies...

      In my opinion better is ASCASO DUO PROF or ASCASO DUO PID and you can choose if u need PID system or not. Without PID is easier to preppare coffee but with PID is more fun. :D

    What was this video, it’s like comparing apples and oranges.. Yes you can set water temperature in Breville barista touch, I have one. The only advantage the other machine has is the traditional 58mm portafilter.

  • @diycentral

    On the Breville side if you geek out on technology then go with the Barista Touch but if you geek out on the home barista experience then spend an extra $100 for the Dual Boiler.

      Not entirely true. You can still manually control the Barista Touch, Gail neglected to mention that. You can manually froth milk and you can control the coffee temperature.

    • @diycentral
      @diycentral 7 років тому

      Nice! Then I guess it is more about if the extra money is worth having the benefits of a dual boiler and 58mm portafilter.

      its is whatever works for your needs and coffee taste.
      Every machine is different, find one in your price point that fits your needs.... I have a brand new $2500 machine and its just awful because its too perfect. LOL.
      It does everything for me and I do not like that plus it is high maintenance.

    • @ThorMaxx
      @ThorMaxx 4 роки тому

      Dual boiler also needs a good grinder...which most likely will cost half of the dual boiler price.

      Instant (AeroPress) Fauxspresso + Cola
      1) Aeropress - inverted method.
      2) 30g @ 184 degrees, 120g pour, no bloom.
      3) Stir vigorously for 10 seconds. flip at 50 seconds, press for 20 seconds - press harder (for crema!) a total brew time of 1:10. (Stop here for a great 2x shot of fauxpresso, or keep reading on!)
      4) For this recipe, your press should be on a standard pint glass, directly onto ~100 grams of ice cubes, add another after brew is done. Add another ice cube or two if you choose.
      5) Now - for the fun part: Add 4oz of chilled cola (I strongly recommend "Mexican" Coke made with real cane sugar). Stir gently. Add 1oz 1/2+1/2 (or a dallop of vanilla) if you'd prefer as they all complement each other.
      I recommend a nutty light or medium roast coffee as it will complement the taste of cola syrup quite well.
      Hope you guys like it as much as I do!
