  • I finally finished my 100 Day Project! Let's look at all the designs I made for the project.
    My project started April 1, 2019, and I finished it October 2nd due to my laser cutter breaking down for a bit in the middle.
    I designed a series of jewelry from wood and acrylic, slowly building up more complex and inter-connected designs. My final design is a super-complex, wood and acrylic statement-piece necklace.
    Check out the first video I did when I started the project: • The 100 Day Project: 1...
    And you can see the whole project on my Instagram: / kathrynmakes
    *FYI - The Dremel LC40 has been discontinued, so please don't buy a new one!!*

    This exactly the inspiration I needed. I've had my Glowforge for more than 2 years and I've had so many issues getting it working etc.... SO NOW - I'm fighting with the concept of TIME. :) It always helps to see others struggles and you're info here is SUPER helpful. I love how you brainstorm and create prototypes. I have so many ideas swimming in my head -- you've given me great inspiration to get going! Thank you!

    I love the geometries and the play between natural lines and the harsher lines of the geometries I love your mixed combinations of materials too I love your Art Deco style wood earrings and your last piece is amazing the pearl white against the wood is striking and the glitter acrylic against the wood too .

    Hi Kathryn. My name is Rebecca. I also have the LC40 Digilab Laser Cutter and mine just shut off today and will not turn back on. I have less than 10 hours of use on it. In your video, you mentioned that you had an issue as well. What was your issue? Very frustrated that this high dollar item broke so soon. I have a trouble ticket started but of course today is a Saturday and they are not open so I will need to wait to hear from them. Any advice on troubleshooting you might have is welcome. :) Thank you for your videos, I hope to post some eventually to help other people too.

      Hi Rebecca! Sorry you're having problems. It's super frustrating to have the laser cutter break (mine went down after about 8.5 hrs of use!)
      Try resetting the circuit breaker attached near the wall plug. It has two buttons labeled "Reset" and "Test". When I pressed that, the light went on, but when I tried to turn the device on, it would trip the circuit breaker again.
      If yours does this, then the device is indeed dead, but since it's under warranty, they'll send you a new one and have you ship the old one back.

      Kathryn McElroy I only have about 10 hours on mine and it’s completely dead. I had already tried the reset the button itself is working just fine but the machine doesn’t turn on at all. I live in Alaska and I am sure it is going to take an act of God to get them to send me a replacement. Thank you for your reply.

    Almost all kind of laser cut pendant designs in one video from geometric to abstract. The details of every design made video long but interesting. Wish you good luck.

      I'm still very happy! The original machine I received had a manufacturing problem (under warranty), but they sent me a new one and I've had no problems ever since.

    Where do you get your materials?

    • @KathrynMarinaro
      @KathrynMarinaro  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! I buy most of my acrylics from Canal Plastics: www.canalplastic.com/ They have a lot of different colors and patterns to play with. For the wood, I've stuck with Dremel's material which you can buy on their website or Amazon. It's flatter than thin plywood you could buy from the hardware store, and it's already the right size!

    hello can I make metal industrial parts with your machine

    • @KathrynMarinaro
      @KathrynMarinaro  3 роки тому

      Hi! No, you cannot cut metal with this laser cutter. It's only a 40watt laser; you need a much more powerful laser to cut through metal.
