These podcasts are such a killer for me im here drinking a brew on a rainy day soon as I finish one of these im getting the clubs out giving them a clean and thinking my real life commitments could wait a cheeky 9 holer in the rain wouldn't take up to much of my time would it ? 🤣
loved the full length video boys! brilliant
One of my favorite podcast segments so far. It felt 100 percent relatable starting around 24 minutes where they talk about basically the standard golfer where you start to weed out the terrible shots but still end with a bogey most holes. That is where I am right now. I went 18 yesterday on a fairly difficult course yesterday. I ended with 5 pars, no birdies, one double bogey and the rest bogeys. Some holes you just can't piece together and you end up with a bogey.
Great podcast, enjoyed the conversation. I hope you guys end up releasing the Phil Kenyon interview- I for one would enjoy listening to 2 hours of that!
Like these loads! I am working my 9 hole course, Break 36. Working on Iron Play and short game! Thank you Rick and Guy!
Enjoy the podcast v much. I think your transparency regarding the Ecco sponsorship and the philosophy behind it is excellent. I have noticed you seem to have had a series of guests both players and others that appear to be linked to the LIV Golf initiative backed by the Saudi Government. I also understand you are backed by Performance54 who promote Saudi golf interests. I think it would be great if you made some comments in a podcast offering the same type of transparency as to your relationships with these organisations.
I love seeing both you guys playing golf. The chemistry you guys have on here translates to the course perfectly!
Lucky enough to live not far from Close House, play both courses on a regular basis, I can absolutely and fully confirm when you say how superb the facility is, it really is, the whole estate is so so nice, every box ticked, cracking podcast as always chaps, haven’t watched the vlog on The Colt yet (if it’s out ha) I will check and of course view, 👏 👏
Guy's tube joke was a++++ hahahha
Im so glad UA-cam has subtitles/ close captions so i can understand what Guy is saying
Ecco makes a great show. I have some I've had for a long time and once they broke in I loved them. however my all time favorites I recently got, the Nike tw20. Those things feel like you're walking on a cloud.
Got to agree with Echos shoes. I’ve had a pair for a year and they are without doubt the comfiest golf shoes I’ve ever worn. My feet used to hurt near the end of a round but not anymore. Completely waterproof unlike other shoes that make the same claim. Only problem I’ve had is the soft yak leather, it creases very easily and quickly so if you’re looking for them to stay brand new for a long time they aren’t for you. If you don’t mind them looking a bit aged then they will last you for years.
Love these podcasts. One of the most entertaining series on *any* platform.
Can we see a match...Rick v Bob from Nowrich 🤣.
Subscribed to both .
Like the break 75 series.
lol “ the bad shots are refreshing” after your most recent break 75 that put it on hold, remember this podcast. There’s just no consistency in golf mate. But it’s cool that you’re doing your new training and fitness journey in prep for you next pro match in one month. Cool to see the training vlogs.
Love the episode gents. I’m currently running my own “break 100” season. Keep up the great content.
Good luck!! You’ll break it in no time!! 🙌🏼
Hey Rick, would love you to film a break 75 challenge at the Royal North Devon Golf Club, England’s oldest golf course and designed by old Tom Morris. I used to play there as a kid but haven’t been there in nearly 40 years as I now live in Australia. It’s an awesome links course and will be a decent challenge. Forget 75 if it’s windy!
Best chips (crisps?) are Ruffles All Dressed. Hands Down. I have heard they did not survive the pandemic but if you can find them, you will never go back to any other flavor....
They are absolutely the bomb! I don't know if they were a casualty of the pandemic or not, though they were involved in large recall last May.
I bought Ecco golf shoes almost 2 years ago. I was so excited to see them on the market as 90% of all my work/dress shoes are Ecco's. I have been wearing them for years. They are the most comfortable shoe, and most comfortable golf shoe I've ever owned.
As you mention Alan shearer …… maybe a series of playing with footballers as there are loads of them that play golf?
The wedge game is the reason and the separator. It is the reason why I have a day job and you have a UA-cam channel! LOL! Great content and I love the channel.
a good way of getting someone into the golf I play with my brother who isn't as good as me (I'm also not great haha) so we tend to play bad golf style or Texas and that keeps it nice and fresh
Tried a pair of Ecco golf shoes on yesterday and I must say they were comfortable enough but for me there’s something out there better for me. I tried the ones Guy showed too but since I already have 2 sets of shoes I’m not compelled to try another. As an older golfer I use buggies so my shoes last awhile.
You're setting the bar high. Colin Morikowa, Tommy Fleetwood, Lee Westwood and Nick Faldo.
Guy and his innuendos kill me off. Too funny.
Great show guys. Cheers from across the pond in New Hampshire 🇺🇸
Amazing as always guys. Love listening to these, the content is brilliant.
I can vouch for your Centre Parc’s video. I was there at the same time with my family 😁
Another great way to keep a significant other or friend who is just starting is to try find a mashie course or shorter par 3 course nearby and take them there to start. Much less punishing and also requires just the shorter clubs, so more forgiving to learn. We have a nearby mashie that we use to introduce friends to golf, so far every single one has been hooked after a couple of tries.
Would love to see a full Rick vs Guy match
looks like you are delaying that lee westwood match video after the liv golf news lol
Rick / guy the screen in the middle of you both you need to use it to show shots you have played and talk through it. Kinda like sky, also love that you break to show the video clip of what your talking about. You have to come down to Cornwall and play china fleet or st Mellion 🤔 love the work keep it going boys
They need to bring back the Freddie Couples original premieres. Can’t find them anywhere except online and I hate not trying on a pair of shoes I’m going to be walking in a lot without trying them on.
Real good point about shooting to your handicap Guy, this was such an entertaining episode. Well done to all your staff 👍
Thanks so much!
Stayed there February for my birthday played both courses and literally got treated as royalty 🤌 colt course too is complete different gravy 🏌♂️⛳️💯🔥🔥
I lived 5 mins away from Close House, in the Army Barracks, and managed to play there 5 or 6 times. I agree it's a good course, but not as good as you are making it out, especially for the price per round. Matfen Hall is 10 minutes away and maybe lacks the exposure, but better when deciding on value for money.
🤣🤣🤣 I went to a christening at Houghwood years ago. While fairly pissed up 4 of of hijacked a buggy and went joy riding down the 18th. (Sticking to the path I might add!) We were quickly caught by the greens staff though 🤣
I also played it 3 years ago, yes, super hilly and a proper test!
U guys will have to pop down the hill and play berrington and see how u get on. Think u will be ok with how long u hit it. Good challenge tho. Same slope as silloth.
Ricks not lying.. I bought some Ecco golf shoes this winter.. finally a shoe shaped for a human foot and it’s waterproof and looks good
when are we going to talk about Max Homa and his Titleist clubs? Pleaseeee. His swings are so on point we have to discuss them
Great podcast. Full 18 video at guys course coming soon???
What on earth did you think you were going to his van for guy 😂
Well done guys doing a great job
Great podcast once again. Love your work.
The comments about playing to handicap and golf being hard were very welcome. I have a habit of beating myself up when I have a bad round or hit a bad shot so this little nugget of context / reality was very welcome.
I’ve never been awake near the launch of one of these episodes (PST is my timezone). Exciting stuff to see it early!
Same. EST in NH. So glad I woke up for this !!🤓🤓🤓
🤣🤣🤣 Bob from Norwich 😅😅😅
25:00 is so true. it's just not being sharp.
I want to see the putting lesson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If not I'm back to Danny....
How about an ‘Iconic courses, iconic shots’ Break 75 series or episode to attempt recreations of memorable shots like Seve’s car park 9 iron at Lytham 16th or Nick Price’s 50 foot eagle putt on 17th at Turnberry etc. made even more special by using the clubs that golfer used for the round? Oh and get James Robinson involved too? Little bit of golfbidder action in the process?! 😅🤞🏻
For me it's a Frazzles and mayo butty!!
Great episode Rick! I've already listened to it😁
I've been hit by a ball a few times. The first was when I was a range kid at my local course. I was out picking the range and got nailed in the lower back. The picker had a cage on it but there was a space between the seat and the ball went right in there and got me. The next time I was walking off the 10th green on my way to the 11th hole and got hit on the fly on the top of the head (the 10th is a driveable and someone hooked it off the tee) luckily all I needed was stitches. It definitely looked worse than it was because as you know head wounds bleed like mad.
Always used Footjoy as for me they were able to give the sort of fit I needed. That said, have always wanted to try Ecco.
I would love to see that Phil Kenyon video.
If you don't want to put it on the main channel, just put it in the podcast channel.....
MORE GOLFING VIDEOS WITH GUY!!!!!
This might be a weird statement, but I like Rick's hair today. :)
Not saying there will be an influence but Ecco is aligned with Callaway, are they not?
On the spikeless traction topic, Coach Lockey (also an Ecco rep) does slip from time to time.
No, Callaway have their own shoes
To the guy who wrote the Dear Rick
Within the last couple of years I got my girlfriend to start to pick up the game (her family plays so they did not have an issue getting her a set of starter clubs) my biggest rec to getting people into golf is to go out and ACTUALLY PLAY. Of course they need a swing to get around the course, but I have found playing a late 9 holes when the course is empty is the best way to go about it. My girl is VERY competitive, so she gets frustrated quickly. Make no quams with her picking up her ball or not wanting to play a certain hole. Just praise the good shots and don't offer much in the way of tips besides focusing on tempo, and staying in the shot.
**BIGGEST TIP**
Make sure your significant other gets a nice course Hot Dog to start the round, my girlfriend refuses to play otherwise.
great show, love all the content, what are your thoughts on doing a break 75 with a few of your followers??
Do the putting video in a multi part series. Like you did with the complete driving guide many years ago.
Hi guy, thanks for showing your 17th hole putt, bit of an anti-climacks in the end, got the impression it was a gimme. As regards filming, would or could it be possible to to use the drone more, this by giving quick look of hole before played rather than looking at hole from ground level, suggest also to ocaganiolly have the drone 30 feet over Rick's swing to hole then follow ball flight to hole from said drone, so basically show shots from drone from back&side and trace/follow ball to green of fareway. But try to show ball&ground in in view in the same shot. I don't like the filming of golf on sky TV, especially showing a ball for 5seconds flying through the boring sky background, I think it would be better showing ball fly to green or fairway from drone with only ball&ground showing plus video zooming in to landing on green, hope I explained OK, keep up the good work boys.
Ecco x JL look incredible
You should do 18 courses as though it’s 18 holes of Break 75 🙌🏻🙌🏻
A man after my own heart and I still do it to this day. Crisp butties = Salad cream with salt and vinegar
What happened to the Lee Westwood video? Thought it was due out Wednesday 👍🏻
They need to make the shoes in larger sizes. I wear a 17 and only have one option in that size.
Consider splitting the video into segments so advertising is highlighted like Ecco, other UA-camrs do it, examples are Trace Velo or Chris Froome
I've been it by a golf ball twice, but more importantly I was playing in a Singha (Thailand) ProAm and hit my playing partner Jasmin Suwannapura (Thai LPGA pro) on the head, fortunately a glancing blow but it left a mark on her cap.
‘The moooooovement’
I don't even hit it well in the driving range...
You should do a beat my record series maybe play 2/3 rounds and take your best score and the series goes until you beat it
Hope its Tiger 🤞
Please play houghwood again with guy but for the break 75 series
Can you do an episode with Good Good ?
Great news congrats. Where is the discount code😂
Rick you gotta do a match with either grant or garret from good good golf… that would be a CRACKER!!! 🔥
Wanted to add something to your podcast concerning if Sandy Lyle should still be playing in The Masters: There are no Senior Tees on the PGA Tour or at Augusta National. If you can't hit it far enough, consistently enough to compete much less make the cut...then you shouldn't be playing
Absolutely great advice on keeping the fiancée interested.
I’m meant to be working, but somehow can’t pull away from another pod cast!
Post the putting video!!!
Guy and Rick should play better ball trying to break par!!
Hi Bob from Norwich here, how do you know what I'm doing?
I’d love to play a match with Rick and Guy
Guy - challenge accepted. Can’t run - 2 knee operations! Going to ride a bicycle!
Only been hit once at a local par 3 muni, someone shouted "fore" and I did what 100% of golfers do, Ducked bent over from the waist, well the ball hit me fair and square how I can only put politely "in the bumhole" good job I wasn't naked that ball would have been well plugged, and sugar did it hurt.
Guy please put your headphones cord straight down under your arm please lol it’s doing my head in.
Lee Westwood going to play in the Saudi league?, - Discuss.
U need to get Colin Montgomery
you mean like when guy had a paid plug when he said the ping G425 FW is the best ever.
yeah we never do paid plugs hhahahahahha
Do you think Ping would really pay me to promote golf clubs? haha (Guy)
That forehead, though
First
People are not that stupid guys. You have basically spoiled the video with Westwood before it's released. You have done it twice now. Maybe start talking about the videos after not before lol
Guys ego OMG OTT
If you break 75 you’re -1 don’t break +1 and 75 is even par and see what the overall score is!!!
There's a problem with your talk about couples or families just going out to have fun on the course. Most actual golfers have issues when their rounds turn into a 5 + hour agony. I take it either of you haven't been in a 4some, waiting on a group or groups just fooling around on the course having fun. Those groups should stay with par3 courses, and stay off Championship venues. Just my point of view, but me thinks I'm not alone guy's..
Enjoyed the podcast.. but the question is why would Westwood want to play on the breakaway Saudi tour ???! Smells of greed to me … shame really .
Dam not first
