Maybe im confused, but if i order an Uber executive i probably get a Mercedes turns up, an compared to sitting in hard rock seats of a black cap your in soft leather and comfort and on top of that it most likely be half the price of a black cab.
Ever since the taxis decided in Spain to take on the same role as Uber/Cabify as having clean cars, being showered, and offering an app service, I have not taken an Uber. My problem was getting in cabs where the driver hadn't showered in two days, with open smelly food, and a dirty car. Some started to subscribe to apps like FreeNow, clean cars, clean clothes (no need for a suit and tie), etc. And that was the moment I decided I would always get a cab, specially when ordering on the app
The meter price is regulated fixed by the local authority council not the taxi driver! Uber prices surge in busy times often well over and above black cabs Get a bus , cycle or walk if you're cheap it's the punters choice if they want an Uber and sit in traffic or a black cab for a few quid more but quicker journey It's your decision
ive been using Uber and i book online they dont ask for my address when they pick me up just my name .... because it is already booked where you are going.. i dont have any complains about Uber.. the service is reliable..
I love the London black cab scene and think it should never go away but he needs to get he’s facts right about Uber! U do not flag down an Uber and then tell the driver where you want to go the app has already sorted all of that before your driver even arrives!
The difference is that the cab driver knows where he’s going and will probably know when it’s busy what roads to avoid, like avoid Shaftesbury avenue and the strand when the theatres chuck out, we’ll always try to find an alternative route that’s quicker and cheaper. Lots of nuances in the job that are not always visible to the public

Uber is minimum wage after all expenses deductions for drivers. Recently the uber algorithms have changed from deducting 25% of drivers earnings to variable. This variable means uber will deduct any percentage it wants so as to ensure the driver earns only minimum wage or just a little above. The algorithms are not hard to decipher after 7,000 trips and having huge driver earnings cuts. A different career is now on the horizon.. I have been using Uber for years, I asked a few drivers why they ask where your going and ask for your name, he said that way he knows he’s got the right passenger in the car, which makes sense, especially when picking up from busy locations
I only used them once. I booked an Uber in the morning for after work and paid nearly double the original quoted price because it was busy. I think the cheeky bastards called it a "surge charge" It would have been cheaper to hail a black or minicab. Never used Uber since and don't intend to either. They respect neither the drivers or customers.
As a private hire driver myself, I would rather walk on broken glass than book an uber. Unfortunately there is no reasoning with the sheep. Think about the consequences of lower fares. Sub Standard Service. Drivers wages being stretched to the point of maybe skipping a service here and there, maybe squeeze an extra 5000 miles out of those at limit tyres? Is your's or your loved ones safety really worth a couple quid saving? Unbelievable to me how cheap people really are. Even after highlighting the truth.
The Black Cab Trade has only itself to blame for its demise. Many years ago my wife, our baby and I were stood outside outside Hackney Hospital in the pouring rain trying to hail a black cab. 4 stopped, but none would take us to Islington. That was the last time I attempted to use one. I have since used hundreds of private hire and Uber cabs, and I have never had a problem. As an added bonus I'm told Uber are far cheaper.
Black cabs have had their day. Maybe they could just concentrate on the rich, tourists and celebrities. Uber is cheaper and the satnav , for the most part, does the job. People just want to go from A to B.
@@giffgaffnettwork5626 but you can order an Uber via a mobile. You only need 10 minutes of foresight. They are also cheaper. If people were keen on keeping black cabs they would use them.
I’m not a Londoner and I get it, but I’ve just been to france, Germany and Switzerland and without Uber I’d have been in the smelly stuff to be fair, let’s tak basel airport for instance, got outside and went for a cab off the rank to go 3 kms, not a huge distance and if it hadn’t have been 11 pm I’d have probably walked it but didn’t know where I was going tbf, now, the cab off the rank wanted €65, got an Uber for €18 now, when you get conned like that off local cab drivers Uber was a godsend but like I said that’s not Britain, some places local cab drivers take the piss 🤷🏻♂️
Why do people moan about saving a few quid when Uber prices surge in the 😢busy times of day therefore are more expensive 💰 than a regulated metered fare and take twice as long ⌚ as a black cab while they can use bus lanes and are quicker if you want free walk if you want cheap use a bus The best service is more likely a knowledgeable London cabbie who knows the script has studied hard of which is an equivalent of a university degree It's your choice whatever standard you want and decision of how you spend your money, it's not a taxi drivers fault as the meter is regulated by the local council but Uber can somehow surge price's when demand is higher
To be fair to the Uber guys any Uber driver that does the job for any length of time will know his way around and I’m a taxi driver and he’s correct you want people in and out in the first mile as that’s where the best money is
F black cabs prices are ridiculous f the tradition and your knowledge you done. I’m a business man like they are everytime you want to get home black cabs pull your pants down. Uber are fair very fair get over it mate Uber wins
the problem is,the black cabs fares are controled by the mayor, they're more expensive than uber,so is the mayor trying to destroy the black cabs, from where i live to uxbridge was £16,but i only had £15,he accepted that, ubers price is,£6-50,my sone is a black cabbie,so i always used them, the price and fack is,the fares are too high, and i had to tell the black cabbie he was going the wrong way,if he stayed in that traffic lane,so now i only use uber.
It’s time for the black cabs to step in line with rest of humanity. Tradition is one thing, economics is another. They all use state navigation anyway. If they want cleaner air then, and for public to use alternative transportation we need more Cabs on the road then we need to more cabs on the road, be it Uber, Black cabs.
Uber drivers often charge customer and don’t turn up marking job as no show and claiming the no show fee £4 also in large city’s Uber drivers manipulate the system by using there own WhatsApp group at peek times by switching there meters of for few mins to achieve max fare costs to customer sometimes x3 the genuine fare when driver reconnects to uber app so clearly out to fill there pockets when the time is right 😂😂😂
things wrong with Uber - some not insured or police checked . charges go up at busy times , rip off. when you say let's be honest - just don't believe you anymore
@@dalek3086 you can't get onto the Uber platform without providing proof of insurance, Even when charges increase, it it significantly cheaper than black cabs. So yeah, LETS BE HONEST!
People stay on the black cabs because they rip drunk passengers off after midnight and make a fortune especially over the weekend. Stop moaning and get on the ubers 😂
Black cab drivers could be nicer and less moody. Cabbie drivers are clueless, can’t even charge EV, cabbie drivers have become misleading when they have foreigners in their car. I caught them out lots
Great subject interesting cab driver totally ruined by asking foolish questions trying to belittling the cab driver like is there a bridge after trying to tell a xab driver a short cut by passing the traffic on Wandsworth bridge rd
My point is that no uber asks for address and that its already in the system before driver comes to pick up point, but black cabs do ask, dont get me wrong but the whole industry is in danger and all this guy wants to is make more divide, really and truly black cabs had the monopoly and they messed up its was all yours for the taking but now because you took the industry for granted Uber has taken over, but uber has also taking the industry for granted. But yeah carry on being negative to each other soon elon mask will take over with his self driving cars and all you drivers will be out of a job waiting in line at the job centre no matter if its uber or blackcabs.... its over. This battle has ended why you still ranting these people give me jokes STOP IT AND JUST GET ALONG i use both services and have experience wether its good or bad on both platforms so thats my point people need to learn to share the market space and stop being greedy!
For the everyday Londoner black cabs are a rip off, why would I hail a black cab when I can order a cab on my fone which comes to my doorstep for quarter of the price. Yes it's an iconic London thing, so what, I need to get where I'm going to, never had a problem with a private hire cab wether Uber or bolt and no they don't ask you to spell the name of a road or a building 😂 it's all in the app mate.
You only care about price. You don’t care Private Hire drivers earn a very low wage for the hours they have to do. The apps don’t pay UK tax. Supporting corporate slave labour. But is cheap right
@@cabbieoo7haha if you don’t care about price then your a fool, most normal people look at the price of something before buying it, and when you want to get from a to b, why would you pay double the amount when both will get you there safely. Both go through exactly the same vetting process! Crb checks etc etc, both licensed by the same authority.
Uber is just more reliable, more convenient, easier, quicker, usually cheaper and doesn't fxk you over by taking a long route. Its easy to see why black cabs are losing the battle

I have been using Uber for years, I asked a few drivers why they ask where your going and ask for your name, he said that way he knows he’s got the right passenger in the car, which makes sense, especially when picking up from busy locations
Of course it’s to double check they’ve got the right person and destination.
Until you want to change the destination
This does look very much like a puff piece for Black Cabs with little actual facts regarding Uber.
With Black Cab opinion instead of facts

What was Lee's first job for free? You didn't let him finish!! 27:09
End of day Uber is so much cheaper and better deals .. so for the customer it’s easier to use ., black taxis has free run for ever
Cheaper for some rides. For some, more expensive. Also, Uber drivers are vetted less, no barrier to entry. Would you put your daughter in one?
Only sometimes when there not surging, then there ridiculous
Said the Uber employee 🤥
‘Never had a problem’ 😂
@simatbirch well you will soon when they go out of business 😅😅
@@jeezy8360 don’t think you read it properly mate.
yes once around Hyde Park they used to do it and one evening the male passenger threw all the womens clothing out the window
You’re a taxi driver? Weird posh liberal Londoners
Black cabs have had their day. Maybe they could just concentrate on the rich, tourists and celebrities. Uber is cheaper and the satnav , for the most part, does the job. People just want to go from A to B.
You can't hail a Uber!! The whole point of a black cabby doing the knowledge is to have that privilege.
@@giffgaffnettwork5626 but you can order an Uber via a mobile. You only need 10 minutes of foresight. They are also cheaper. If people were keen on keeping black cabs they would use them.
@@giffgaffnettwork5626 You can hail one, you just use an app to do it instead of your arm.
@@giffgaffnettwork5626 No, but I can order one via my phone. It isn't difficult.
Sat nav always a longer route .beat it everyday .bus lanes can be used .uber driver can't even read a road sign ffs
The guy with the cap ruined this whole thing. Silly comments..
Constantly trying to be funny. Let the guest speak ffs.
after years of taking your customers for mugs, the cabbies are getting all upset now those customers have gone to uber. womp womp
They have never taken their customers as mugs
uber take their customer as mugs ya nit
Why do people moan about saving a few quid when Uber prices surge in the 😢busy times of day therefore are more expensive 💰 than a regulated metered fare and take twice as long ⌚ as a black cab while they can use bus lanes and are quicker
if you want free walk if you want cheap use a bus
The best service is more likely a knowledgeable London cabbie who knows the script has studied hard of which is an equivalent of a university degree
It's your choice whatever standard you want and decision of how you spend your money, it's not a taxi drivers fault as the meter is regulated by the local council but Uber can somehow surge price's when demand is higher
To be fair to the Uber guys any Uber driver that does the job for any length of time will know his way around and I’m a taxi driver and he’s correct you want people in and out in the first mile as that’s where the best money is
I've never had a bad Uber ride, bottles of water and mints, good price! Black cabs are dusty, uncomfortable out of date!
so are some ubers
Enjoyed the show but by god the constant interruption from bearded guy made it a hard watch 🙄🙄
He’s not funny either.
Romance of getting a cab.. 😅
Joe is just cringe
F black cabs prices are ridiculous f the tradition and your knowledge you done. I’m a business man like they are everytime you want to get home black cabs pull your pants down. Uber are fair very fair get over it mate Uber wins
Just because you cant afford it mate doesnt mean others cant. Seems to supply 20k drivers pretty well.😊
@@ToddFletcher-j6f can’t afford it here we go 👍🏼
Uber prices vary depending on time of day and can be far more expensive
Not a fair deal for the Uber drivers. You clearly care just as little for the cab drivers earnings than the Uber drivers. Meaning your done as well.
The Knowledge is exceptionally hard for a reason. Commendable to anyone who has passed it. Its not easy.
And don’t forget uber can gather data on you sell it on
the problem is,the black cabs fares are controled by the mayor, they're more expensive than uber,so is the mayor trying to destroy the black cabs, from where i live to uxbridge was £16,but i only had £15,he accepted that, ubers price is,£6-50,my sone is a black cabbie,so i always used them, the price and fack is,the fares are too high, and i had to tell the black cabbie he was going the wrong way,if he stayed in that traffic lane,so now i only use uber.
love the black cab !
i would mever use uber .
You get what you pay for .
Good for you
You book uber every day.
To find out the truth about Uber your best of asking an Uber driver.
you must be joking - and you are - bad English
I like Joe Marler but sometimes i wish he'd just shut up and listen to the guest.
Uber just wants to partner up with the black cabs and slip in without taking the years of training
Uber drivers often charge customer and don’t turn up marking job as no show and claiming the no show fee £4 also in large city’s Uber drivers manipulate the system by using there own WhatsApp group at peek times by switching there meters of for few mins to achieve max fare costs to customer sometimes x3 the genuine fare when driver reconnects to uber app so clearly out to fill there pockets when the time is right 😂😂😂
how do you know this?
@@A-se2ur Uber driver told me 😂
Worst customer I think is drunk women
Nothing wrong with an uber... let's be honest.
things wrong with Uber - some not insured or police checked . charges go up at busy times , rip off.
when you say let's be honest - just don't believe you anymore
@@dalek3086 you can't get onto the Uber platform without providing proof of insurance, Even when charges increase, it it significantly cheaper than black cabs. So yeah, LETS BE HONEST!

lol true
I hate Ubers they are the worse drivers on the road completely dangerous.
Uber be last thing on yr mind when robitaxi comes ..

Khans London, he wants the unskilled, barely English speaking Uber drivers. Long Live The Black Taxi 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
😂 true that’s every job in London, cheap immigrant labour taken over
All uber drivers have to do English proficiency test or Prove they have a UK qualification in English, I.e gsce etc.
This guy chat so much bs i see all of you black cab drivers using satnav all the time
And your point is?
But is cheap right
Hey what can you do, cost of living crisis going on, if I could afford a black cab then I'd use one.@@cabbieoo7
@@cabbieoo7You pretending that you pay all your tax ? What bout the cash you don’t declare !?

I drive a lorry all-day and the worst drivers i come across are uber drivers never get me in one
Ah true , black cabs and bus drivers they drive excellent… slap your mouth
Uber is just more reliable, more convenient, easier, quicker, usually cheaper and doesn't fxk you over by taking a long route. Its easy to see why black cabs are losing the battle
Top lads are the black cab drivers. Been cycling in london 20 years on a daily basis and never had a run in.
Judging by Taxi Tom on UA-cam, most black cab customers have a few nicker in the back pocket!

Yes they are. A full DBS check us done before applying for a licence. Then checked on every 6 months
