Harry's acting is just "ok", nothing special compared to Florence, still i like his music tho, he has a song called Matilda and that's a pretty damn good song ngl haha
In the original script (the one not edited by Olivia Wild and her team) Alice comes out of the simulation and remembers that she was seeking a divorce from Jack and that’s why he brought her into the simulation. She also logs onto a computer and sees she’s a missing person. Jack comes out of the simulation as well and he and Alice have a showdown outside the simulation and Alice kills him.
I liked the general concept. Would have loved to see it with a darker spin, maybe a horror version. I can never completely hate something with Florence Pugh in it
Uhm... she's not that great to begin with, she often has the same expressions. You know who would've done it a lot better? Fanning sisters, Lupita Nyong'o, Elizabeth Olsen, Ruth Negga, Merritt Wever, Rosario Dawson, Adepero Oduye or Gina Rodriguez for example. It was a good movie but I highly recommend Martha Marcy May Marlene with Elizabeth Olsen
I feel like so many people already went in having decided to hate this movie before they even saw it. I'm not saying it's a masterpiece but I enjoyed it a lot. I'm glad you two enjoyed it too.
I wanted it to be good. The trailers excited me and I liked the first half of the movie but the ending was terrible. The way she escaped the cars at the end was the most cliche action set piece my 8 year old little cousin could come up with.
I would have loved for this movie to have been a show. I feel like the thrill and suspense would have worked if we sat with these characters more. Also, I’ve been a fan of Harry since 2012 so I’ve watched his career grow. I definitely agree that he needs a few more years to be a better actor but he wasn’t terrible in this. I’m excited to see him come back as Eros in the MCU
To be fair, anyone acting against Florence Pugh, would seem inadequate. Like the guys said, I think he did an okay job. For the most part, he did not seem out of place nor too distracting because of his acting chops.
I think this movie would’ve been improved if the things she was seeing were about her actual life and they spent the second half peppering in what the Victory Project actually was. It’s pretty, but doesn’t have much of a plot.
I don't hate the movie, but the movie seems incomplete - an interesting aspect of the concept is the real world, and when things start to get interesting is when she decides to end the movie, which is disappointintg
@@brianng8350 EXACTLYYY Im so high I thought I missed a LOT of explanation. But no, the movie just ended abruptly and we needed a lot more of info on the real world
It's definitely not perfect but I was suprised how much I ended up liking it. Florence has a lot of star power and I thought Harry wasn't as bad as I thought he would be

I ain't sure I toh thought she didn't coz why will that clip start playing just like it happend the first time she went there and then ended up in her bedroom
Glad you enjoyed the film! It worked on so many levels for me because I felt it spoke to some very specific things that perhaps only other women will get - Shelley correcting Alice's ballet posture reminded me of every woman who has told me to sit properly or pull up my top, Bunny subtly shaming Alice for not wanting kids was insane because so many times our closest female friends end up doing that and it's unsettling. There's so many details, Alice scratching her eye while cleaning the house, Jack saying Frank doesn't like Tuna because he's actually been eating canned Tuna for days... Also, I thought Harry did a great job for his second film, the criticism online was too harsh and unfair imo. I'm excited to see what he does next, I think he'll be great in a quality romcom!
Reminds me of the one semester of ballet I took when I was 7. My teacher was always telling me to suck in my stomach. I wasn't fat but my abs were never tight, still are not.
I really liked the first half of this movie. It takes too long to get to the twist and by the time it gets there, you've already figured it out. It also just ends really abruptly. I felt like Florence Pugh and Chris Pine carried the movie and I really wanted to see more of them against each other. That one dinner scene was great and tense and I thought them confronting each other at least once more and her being the one who kills him would be a more satisfying ending for his character. As for Harry Styles, I think he was fine, but he was also acting opposite Florence Pugh, who was spectacular, so being just fine feels like it's not really enough. I think it's also more of a issue with the character he's playing than the performance. Is he a well meaning guy who's gone down the wrong path or is he an incel who resents his successful wife? Are we supposed to pitty him and feel bad that he has fallen and dies or should we hate him and be happy he dies? I don't feel like we get a good enough read on the character, but that's not ultimately the actor's fault. Ultimately it's a beautiful looking movie and has 2 brilliant performances, but it feels too derivative without being enough of its own thing.
Agreed i was playing cat and mouse with the plot the entire time, it was just a never-ending "wait maybe its about thi- nope that's not it". But I particularly noticed that Chris Pine was suspiciously underused - i feel as tho since Olivia had a 2 second rehash with Mr Styles during the filming she last minute handballed some scenes to Harry. I mean Chris is widely known in the acting world in comparison to Harry. I believe Florence of all ppl carried the film and I would've enjoyed the film much more had the plot been better and the other actors brought a little more to the table.
I sorta like how open then end is. I read a comment that pointed out: she may still be strapped to the bed, next to her husband's now rotting corpse, unable to free herself and she simply could just starve to death or be unable to escape until the Victory works arrive and kill her. Which is.. haunting.
I'm guessing she can scream/yell and neighbors in the other apartments will hear her. Unless the apartment complex was only for the people involved in the project, then she'd be screwed.
i 1,000% agree with what you guys said on how they rushed through the 3rd act of the film. i think they spent so much time building suspense and building up the intensity that they didn't give the last act enough time to really make us feel just how suspense and intense it was. i still enjoyed the movie though. the fact it got as much hate as it did is interesting. the concept was very good and i enjoyed the cinematography a lot but i just think if they give the final act more time it would have been even better. plus when your have florence pugh performing you know that at least what she is doing in her performance will be absolutely incredible. also, harry didn't do horrible by any means but when you're acting along side someone as talented and incredible as florence pugh you have to truly be one hell of an actor. loved the video as well as all of your content! keep up the amazing work!
This movie was criticized so much by the critics not considering that this is just Olivia Wilde's second directorial project AND from a coming of age debut movie. That alone is impressive. She's a visionary definitely tuning in for her next projects. Directing is her calling
I found something hauntingly enjoyable about this movie.... I saw it in the theater and I left pondering its themes for the next few days! So glad you guys reacted to it!
The switches between Aspect Ratios was a unique touch that I don’t think I’ve seen before. The ending to this movie wasn’t what I was hoping for but I had a nice time with it. Solid movie all in all.
I liked Florence's performance, but the script left a lot on the table that could have been explored. And the answers to what's going on leave more questions. I would have preferred it go deeper into the conflict between the women who are trapped there and the ones who have chosen it, and what compels them to make those decisions, and how those who choose to stay there use their needs to justify what is being done to those who want to leave. Also, the emasculation of Jack at the hands of Frank. Jack feels emasculated at first by Alice, who is the primary care giver in their house. So he subjects her to this alternate reality as the solution to his insecurities. But Frank then plays on those very insecurities, which is exemplified by Frank making Jack dance for his pleasure. I wish the film had gone more into the fact that Jack was basically just in the exact same situation he thought he was escaping from, but didn't realize it.
I just watched this last week in theaters and it’s basically Wandavision 🤣 still a good film though! 1. Don’t Worry Darling is said by Wanda to Vision (can’t remember the episode.) 2. “Changing the world” chant similarly to “For The Children” 3. Don’t go past this point present in both. 4. Breaks in reality via radio & the toy plane. 5. Whole town being under a mine control.
Don't forget they literally cast the guy Vision wakes up in the data processing room who screams for help lmao it's pretty "film school hour" Edit: but with a decent budget and credible cast and crew
This is like if A24 made Wandavision but instead of watching TV, they just go down on eachother and instead of the hex they're winter soldiers in a hydra program.
I really liked the sci-fi twist of it and the ending, pretty good for a first time watching experience even when I thought it was gonna be pretty lame.
Spoilers obv: The best part of the film for me is when you get to the first real reveals and realize that when Alice first went to HQ after seeing the plane crash, touched the glass and woke up in Victory again - that in that missing time she would have woken up IRL and have been intercepted by the team and put back in again.
8:23 That was the sign outside of the town where the Manhattan Project was held. Only difference is, the sign had one more line before the end: When You Leave Here. That's not in this movie's sign, showing how none of them are leaving.
I thought this was pretty good. Not amazing but it held my interest and I thought the acting was very well done. I think Florence and Harry both did amazingly. I would have liked to see a scarier atmosphere from it, a bit darker. But it was good as a whole. And I know some people said predictable, and where it can be, it also isn't. Depends on the viewer. Because myself and some others who watched it were kept guessing alot, not sure what exactly was going on. I actually never even thought it was a virtual world. I literally thought it took place in the past. Lol And I saw you guys kept guessing at things alot too! So it definitely wasn't wholly predictable, for everyone. But yeah! I enjoyed it overall. Thanks for reacting to it! I love when reaction channels will react to anything. I like variety and open reactors. ❤
I saw this in theaters out of pure curiosity and love for Florence Pugh and Gemma Chan. I thought it was fine. I didn’t dislike it, but I was hoping for more. I think I expected a more layered commentary on sexism and misogyny since we have seen so many Stepford Wives type movies making the same points. Florence carries the movie. And while watching, I definitely could see the performance Shia would have given opposite her. Harry is fine, but Florence is acting circles around him. I do like Olivia Wilde’s visual style as a director. This movie is beautiful to look at and seems to speak quite clearly with its cinematography.
@@bori2100 the ending was terrible. I liked the first half but the way she escaped those cars at the end my 8 year old little cousin could’ve came up with that. Florence Pugh carried the movie if it was any other actress ya’ll would see how bad the movie really was lol
Spoilers for those that haven't watched and for some reason jumped right to the comments: So y'all just going to gloss over the fact that she's still strapped to a bed with no escape at the end??? 😂 There are a lot more issues with the writing than just that. One example: No one from her work or family came looking for her after she just decided to stop showing up at a hospital? She just disappeared from everyone and everything she's known overnight.
They spent more time at the start reeling us into the fantasy, instead of spending more time in the real world, thats why to me it felt incomplete at the end
It's just an updated stepford wives really (which was also just an updated stepford wives!). I like how pretty it is but it's not like this story hasn't been told before in the same way. If you're looking for a horror version of this tale, the 1975 version of the stepford wives will probably do it for ya.
The acting and production was fine, Florence carries it and I thought was brilliant, but it was largely a Stepford Wives retelling. The offscreen drama with Olivia and Shia (which was totally unnecessary) and the Chris and Harry alleged drama didn't help. Olivia also definitely didn't need to go on the attack with the marketing, i.e. the Jordan Peterson comment, the film isn't as intelligent or unique as she thought it was but that said it was relatively enjoyable for the kind of film it was. I don't think it deserves the 30% but as you said also not incredible, maybe high 50% low 60% (which in fairness is where most of my favourite movies seem to sit on that site anyway).
Watched this last night. Loved Francis Pugh. Harry Styles was surprisingly good also. What a warped flick. I also love watching anything with you guys too. Romantic donuts cracked me up, I said sexy drunk ones. Love you guys 💖💖🎬🎬
I was waiting for this one!!!!! I thought this movie was okay, it wasn’t all that it was hyping itself to be but I enjoyed it, I definitely thought the incel aspect of if was terrifying because you could tell some of these women were probably kidnapped in real life. Could’ve had a more cohesive plot but for me it was a 6.5/10
5 minutes in and Greg already fucking guessed something wasn’t real but my dumbass didn’t pick up on that until they finally showed it 😂😂😂😂I thought they was just in like a dome kommunity in the desert or something
GREAT REACT REJECTS!! At first I thought this was gonna take a "Stepford Wives" or "Westworld" turn, but was surprised when the twist came from the outside! ^_^
Rewatching this movie on this reaction video, and you guys are right- this movie is a bit predictable but still very enjoyable. Despite the lack of praise for this movie. Enjoyed this episode, going through rough times and you guys keep me smiling.
I think the ending was rushed. After the reveal there should have been at least another twenty minutes explaining more. The ending IS ambiguous and left to interpretation. Is the whole project shut down? Did Shelly kill Frank because he failed and she thinks she can do it better? If Bunny knew all along how much does her husband know? I think criticism of Harry’s acting was harsh. Is he great? No. Is he the worst? The casts of Twilight and Fifty Shades say hi.
John calling the whole Stepford thing early on was pretty much exactly where I called it too. I had my suspicions with the trailer but at that point in the movie I called it around there as well. Overall is this movie all bad, no. Is it a bad movie, I say yes. Will I have fun in the future riffing on this movie while drinking with buddies, absolutely.
Well tbh I thought this was and okayish movie. It was a decent watch, and had a good concept but I felt somehow they got lost in the execution. Florence and Gemma were the saving grace for me. One time watch in theatre but wouldn't mind seeing it on OTT once in a while on a chill Sunday night. Wish this didn't have all the drama around it. Olivia actually did pretty okay for he directorial debut. 6/10

I have a huge crush on florence pugh and I believe she was the best part of this movie. Yes it has good cinematography, the score is pretty good and the costume/stage design is amazing. But geez for me it fell apart at the predictability of the plot and actually awkward performance by Harry and the rest of the cast
I thought the divisive ending was when he managed to sell the place to her for a second there and she did think about the fact that she was happy there. She said she needed a minute to process. But for some reason he thought it was a good idea to crush her bones (Still don't know what that's about). And so she killed him and goes back to reality.
I was really excited for this film and did really enjoy it. Harry Styles was fine (nothing special but nothing near as bad as some haters might make you think). The music and cinematography is great and Florence Pugh is superb. The first hour and a half or so was really really good and I like the concept of the reveal, but I don’t think it was written very well. There’s so much that goes unexplained and it doesn’t feel like it’s left ambiguous in a clever way - feels a little disappointing.
I really enjoyed Don't Worry Darling. I feel like the movie is really fun at times and the suspensefulness of the movie is used really well, and even though the ending of the movie is a little odd. What Olivia Wilde chose to do for the ending of don't worry darling is very good in my opinion. Don't Worry Darling is a good movie and I really like it. I give it a solid 8/10 😀👍
The bts drama was more interesting than the actual movie. Miss Flo was great (as always) and I thought that for his alleged 2M salary, Harry was overpaid. And right you are John about Harry being of a specific type, that he works well within period/retro pieces. His next movie is My Policeman, a gay love story set in the 50s.
I enjoyed it too. Thanks for your thoughtful analysis as always. The only bit that bothered me was the ending. Just can't feel great about her escaping only to wake up strapped to the bed unable to move with her dead husband next to her.
wow i didn't expect you guys to watch this 😂 honestly i never understood why this movie got so much hate. i know the press around it was pretty bad but that has nothing to do with the movie itself?? the criticisms i've seen for the movie just seem nitpicky tbh. it was okay.
@@draganbosnjakovic7173 agree. I think for his character they were trying to go an ‘incel’ like route, which they didn’t achieve brilliantly. But from what I read about Jordan he has definitely insulted incels a fair few times which confuses me on what they were actually aiming for
As she is talking to Doctor Spock about HIPAA, I get a "Stepford Wives" feel. The other woman they were talking about caused her husband trouble at work.....
It has just never made any sense to me how doing all of this was easier for Harry Styles' character than just getting a job lol. The whole reason their relationship was suffering was he wasn't working and she had to work extra shifts, which took a toll on their relationship. And instead of getting a new job and trying to rebalance their relationship, he takes this supposedly hard, awful, grueling job he works during the hours he's not plugged into the machine. And on top of that he has to take care of Florence Pugh's physical body on a daily basis, which probably takes a lot of work. It just seemed ridiculous to me.

You said you heard it’s predictable and you can’t predict anything but watching this you were predicting everything 😂
Glad you guys are reacting to this movie, I thought this movie was pretty enjoyable
Your movie reactions are some of my favorite videos from you guys!
LOL at you guys being like "This isn't predictable" at first, and then only a few minutes later you correctly guess that it's all a sim. :)
Low key I got so mad about the food being thrown about. I am old too.
Thank you for watching this so I don’t have to! You guys are doing the lords work 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
yeah it is horrible
@@davidmckesey7119 why don’t you like the movie? /gen
@@davidmckesey7119 no it’s not lmao
@@davidmckesey7119 tasteless
@@bori2100 the ending was terrible. I liked the first half but the way she escaped those cars at the end my 8 year old little cousin could’ve came up with that. Florence Pugh carried the movie if it was any other actress ya’ll would see how bad the movie really was lol
Spoilers for those that haven't watched and for some reason jumped right to the comments:
So y'all just going to gloss over the fact that she's still strapped to a bed with no escape at the end??? 😂
There are a lot more issues with the writing than just that. One example: No one from her work or family came looking for her after she just decided to stop showing up at a hospital? She just disappeared from everyone and everything she's known overnight.
They spent more time at the start reeling us into the fantasy, instead of spending more time in the real world, thats why to me it felt incomplete at the end
that’s what i was waiting to my cousins at the end of the movie, i was like “did NO ONE call a wellness check on her??”
I never thought to watch this film, but now I want to. Probably helps that I'm in love with Florence Pugh!
Movie is really good and crazy i was so scared for Alice at the end but am i only one who gets wandavision vibes from it
It's just an updated stepford wives really (which was also just an updated stepford wives!).
Could’ve had a more cohesive plot but for me it was a 6.5/10
I’m incredibly saddened by the cancellation of West World. One of the all time great shows
NO BODY TALKING ABOUT THE MUSIC AT 34:24 ITS SO COOL, I NEED IT ON SPOTIFY 🔥
This movie was everything and nothing all at once. Florence Pugh loves being in cult movies
I feel the same way! Lol.
I just realized how much of Jude Law I see in Harry's acting, his acting is like of Jude's character from CLOSER
5 minutes in and Greg already fucking guessed something wasn’t real but my dumbass didn’t pick up on that until they finally showed it 😂😂😂😂I thought they was just in like a dome kommunity in the desert or something
Just watched the film couple days ago. Did yall notice the song “ life can be dream “ displaying the idea of dreaming for a life you want.
Chris Pine and Florence Pugh are amazing.
I love that Casey "cut u like a fish" (Scream reference) from Loki is in this. Many didn't get that joke. 😂
I actually loved it. Went in blind and had no clue the background but liked the reveal and was surprised.
I love your reactions! You guys have such illuminating discussions!
I don't get Wilde's comment about Pine's character being based on Jordan Peterson. He reminded more like a mash-up of David Koresh and Charles Manson
Now I think you should watch My Policeman on Prime Video. Another recent Harry Styles performance.
That's exactly what happened - olivia wilde was gonna cast HERSELF as alice 💀 but choose florence after seeing her in "midsommar"
I love this movie, idk about the issues and its not one of my fav thriller films but totally enjoyed watching it
so glad yall reacted to this movie!! ❤
Grogu has fallen in the background and I can't ignore it!
5 mins in and John guessed the entire plot of the movie.
of course - because it's the stepford wives plot.
@@johnjungkook2721 exactly!
I thought that too. It was like the stepford wives.
This movie is AMAZING ✨
I can’t believe you guys are reacting to this movie 😳
I think the ending was rushed. After the reveal there should have been at least another twenty minutes explaining more. The ending IS ambiguous and left to interpretation. Is the whole project shut down? Did Shelly kill Frank because he failed and she thinks she can do it better? If Bunny knew all along how much does her husband know?
I think criticism of Harry’s acting was harsh. Is he great? No. Is he the worst? The casts of Twilight and Fifty Shades say hi.
6:50 Damn it Greg!
“Before you lose the decade, man”😂
You should def check out The Raid if you haven’t seen it. It’s an Indonesian action film with seriously good camera work and martial arts
I kinda just wanted more from the ending. Like, I would have liked just a tad more falling action
Same wanted to see her reaction when/if she woke up.
Im getting wandavision from this movie, even has characters that look and act like monica rambeau, dotty and agness
this movie was filmed way before Wanda Vision came out tho
There a guy who's in both projects.
My first thought during that scene™ was "but the ROAST. the MASHED POTATOES. the GRAVY!! You ruined a beautiful dinner!!" 🤣
it wasn’t her directorial debut, she directed the amazing booksmart
@@eefaaaa8045Oh! Did not know that. I thought this was the one. Have not known of her otherwise in anything other than House MD. I'll check it out thanks!
You guys are on 💥💥💥
I lol-ed at John saying “then what’s her purpose in life” 😂
Jacksepticeye wanted us to ask our favorite creators to get involved with his upcoming charity livestream Thankmas. Don’t know if you guys are interested, but I thought I’d let you know.
I have a huge crush on florence pugh and I believe she was the best part of this movie. Yes it has good cinematography, the score is pretty good and the costume/stage design is amazing. But geez for me it fell apart at the predictability of the plot and actually awkward performance by Harry and the rest of the cast
I dropped everything when I saw the notification
I thought the divisive ending was when he managed to sell the place to her for a second there and she did think about the fact that she was happy there. She said she needed a minute to process. But for some reason he thought it was a good idea to crush her bones (Still don't know what that's about). And so she killed him and goes back to reality.
This movie blew my mind!!! Exited to see your reactions ❤❤❤
Huh. To each their own.
Ok
I was really excited for this film and did really enjoy it. Harry Styles was fine (nothing special but nothing near as bad as some haters might make you think). The music and cinematography is great and Florence Pugh is superb. The first hour and a half or so was really really good and I like the concept of the reveal, but I don’t think it was written very well. There’s so much that goes unexplained and it doesn’t feel like it’s left ambiguous in a clever way - feels a little disappointing.
Had no idea what this flick was about. Was pleasantly surprised. It was like Truman show meets The Matrix. Lol pretty cool
I really hope you guys check out the Pitch Meeting for this!
The reactioners the ppl need!
My lord is Florence Pugh a phenomenal actress
I really enjoyed Don't Worry Darling.
I feel like the movie is really fun at times and the suspensefulness of the movie is used really well, and even though the ending of the movie is a little odd. What Olivia Wilde chose to do for the ending of don't worry darling is very good in my opinion.
Don't Worry Darling is a good movie and I really like it.
I give it a solid 8/10 😀👍
This reads like a copypasta
I'm not a fan of Shia as a person, but his talents were definitely needed in this one
just some talent in general other than Florence Pugh was needed. Like maybe an original concept for starters.
orrr let’s not encourage hiring known abusers
@@rpaintegg he was already hired...that's the point I was making. Smh
The bts drama was more interesting than the actual movie. Miss Flo was great (as always) and I thought that for his alleged 2M salary, Harry was overpaid.
And right you are John about Harry being of a specific type, that he works well within period/retro pieces. His next movie is My Policeman, a gay love story set in the 50s.
that's not even true information?? he was not paid more...
@@cherrydreams_ emphasis on alleged
This was way longer than it needed to be
I myself would love to be in that sim but know that I am. It's such a nice neighborhood and I wouldn't have to work 50 hours a week!
This is the product of a three way between The Stepford Wives, The Village and Surrogates
Y’all should watch TRON legacy, would like y’all to react to that !!!!! Amazing underrated movie
LOVING THE MOVIE REACTIONS!!!!
CAN YALL REACT TO TICK TICK BOOM??
I enjoyed it too. Thanks for your thoughtful analysis as always. The only bit that bothered me was the ending. Just can't feel great about her escaping only to wake up strapped to the bed unable to move with her dead husband next to her.
wow i didn't expect you guys to watch this 😂 honestly i never understood why this movie got so much hate. i know the press around it was pretty bad but that has nothing to do with the movie itself?? the criticisms i've seen for the movie just seem nitpicky tbh. it was okay.
the wandavision vibes this movie gave me
The similarities were uncanny. Wandavision vibes right from the start, sort of undercut the surprises in the film for me
I don’t really get the Jordan Peterson comment. I’ve seen it a couple of times but after everything I’ve read about him I’m not sure of the link
Olivia wilde said that Chris pine character was based on jordan peterson which is ridiculous.
@@draganbosnjakovic7173 agree. I think for his character they were trying to go an ‘incel’ like route, which they didn’t achieve brilliantly. But from what I read about Jordan he has definitely insulted incels a fair few times which confuses me on what they were actually aiming for
Frank in the movie felt more like a sophisticated David Koresh rather than Peterson
As she is talking to Doctor Spock about HIPAA, I get a "Stepford Wives" feel. The other woman they were talking about caused her husband trouble at work.....
Any movie starring written or produced by Elizabeth Banks is an automatic turn off for me.
I feel like Shia would’ve been such a good actor for this instead of harry 😫
y’all definitely need to watch the pitch meeting for this one, it’s too good!
Now react to My Policeman please! I know it did not get enough promotion as this one and it's genuinely beautiful and emotional imo.
Too late
nobody is gonna watch that movie lol.
When will Styles play Mick Jagger?!
@@davidmckesey7119 it’s been no.1 on prime since it came out lol audience reactions are pretty decent
I see a lot of A Clockwork Orange, The Matrix, The Truman Show, Mad Max Fury Road, west world and inception
6:46 in 0.25x speed when the guy closes the curtains a different person's face shows for a split second.
That’s actually Alice in the bed in the real world
