Bro, I saw this as one of Regal's Monday Mystery Movies. One of the best theater experiences of the year so far! Did not expect to like it nearly as much as I did
“Screen life mystery thriller” is what it’s called. The style bugged me the first 5 minutes then I acclimated. I enjoyed the first one too. Hope you watch it.
No because this movie was actually so good. I was hesitant when i saw it took place online, but the way they up the tension and get you immersed in the search is spot on. I actually wanna see more movies like this in the future.
I think the cinematography stepped up in this one. The first one had like early 2000’s PC system. So it being on a Mac added a really cool extra the original didn’t have. But the original story was just as good
I much preferred Searching. Maybe it was just because that was the first time something like this has been done so the novelty wore off on me for Missing. Searching was also just more grounded and had less twists and turns, made it more believable. This one just feels much more hectic than the first.
The directors, producer and screenwriters team of run ,searching and missing are incredible. They are some of the best of the genre . Aneesh, sev,Natalia, will and nick (directors of this movie )are incredible
I was so excited when I heard of Missing because I was such a big fan of the film Searching.. and Missing did not disappoint.. glad to see it get a reaction here.
I didn't really want to watch this either, but my 16 year old begged me to, and I'm so glad she did! Best movie I've seen in a while, and so creatively shot!
One of the things I loved about both Searching and Missing is that they followed the rule n#1 of a goos mystery: they were FAIR mysteries. Every single clue was clearly show on screen, even if we didn't notice them until their respective reveals.
This movie kept me on the edge of my seat and really immersed you into it with the whole POV setup. Also, I have seen a number of reactions with Tara in them and I don't think I ever saw her so involved as this lol. GREAT reaction from you both.
Modern Family did an episode years ago that used this format. The whole story was told thru Julie Bowen’s MacBook screen (Google search tabs, Facebook profiles, facetimes, iMessages, etc) - she was trying to track down her daughter.
Searching is in my top 5 favorite movies of 2023 right now. I really enjoyed this movie from a storytelling aspect to it all being inside the computer without breaking the continuity. It a really underrated film that should get more recognition.
The producer of this is called it "ScreenLife." He also produced Unfriended and the sequel which is similar concept, but not as intricate. I like Searching as well. I thought it was tighter than this film, but less bombastic. Also, John Cho is f*cking fantastic as the lead!
When y'all were talking in the beginning what type of movie, the term is now being called "Screenlife" basically a story told through screen how we see our lives on daily basis and why it works so well. The primary pioneer has been Timur Bekmambetov.
I saw this for January's Regal Monday Mystery Movie and had no idea what it was about until then. I really was surpised by how much I enjoyed it and happy it was the choice that month because I would not have purposefully went ro see it and would have missed out.
