    Really helpful video. Thanks so much! I especially like your idea of putting the ACOS in the campaign name

      Thanks! It's worthwhile testing some ads for older books, but from my experience your ACOS should be directly profitable for older books else it's not really worth it. Newer books can rank well with the help of ads, whereas older books tend to either rank well at the beginning or slide down the rankings. It seems quite hard to bring them back to the top.

    This is all great info! I am just starting on my KDP journey, launched my first book last week. I have a few sales, but suspect they are from people I know. That being said, do you think my book is still in the "launch" phase where I would benefit from the ads? I'm hoping people will buy it for stocking stuffers... I'm thinking of putting a fairly large budget towards the ads (even running at a loss) because I have a ton more books I'm working on and sort of want to jump start the first one. I was going to do ads later down the road but you brought up great points that I feel like I should spend the money now. Thank you!

      Hey, thanks for checking out the channel and I'm glad it was helpful. 100% worth trying with ads especially in the lead up to Xmas. I'd say give yourself a budget for it. Focus on keyword ads and focus on what people might actually be searching for. Don't go TOO high with suggested bids, and keep an eye on your ads as they can easily either not spend anything all the way up to spending your entire daily budget. Ads are also a great skill to learn to future proof you as an author as well :)

      Watch my video on ACOS as well. It's important to know what your breakeven ACOS is for your book to track direct profitability of ads :)

    Great vid boss the part I wish I could quantify is the boost organic sales get from ads even when they seem like they not doing much directly ?🤔

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  Місяць тому +2

      Can you break that down a little more clearly for me and will do my best to answer :). Basically you need to get enough sales from keywords to start ranking and from my experience within the first 2 months of a book launch. Then when that happens and you start ranking for that keyword, if there's traffic to that search term you'll see organic sales. If that doesn't answer the question let me know 🙏

      @onyi4180 27 днів тому

      @@selfpublishingempirei think his question is the same thing i wanted to ask: I noticed my book started selling a copy or 2 daily but the data from the ad campaign showed that it was unprofitable. I had to turn it off yesterday and haven't seen any sales since then. The question is, does ads contribute to organic sales?

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  27 днів тому +1

      @@onyi4180 Ah yes, 100%, that's essentially why I suggest running ads in the first 2 months of a book being live because then tends to help it rank organically and increase organic sales. Older books tend to have less organic sales from ads.

    Brilliant, thank you! Do you really use so few keywords or was this simply an example of the process for this video? 😻

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  Місяць тому +2

      Totally depends on the book and the niche. A bit more of a broader book I might have 10-15 keywords on exact and phrase and a few on broad... If it's a bit more of a targeted book in a specific area then I might only have 5 keywords on exact and phrase and a couple of broad :)

    1 questing while selecting color options on kdp do you do premium color or standard color? What are the margins like on premium color and what’s the difference?

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  Місяць тому

      Standard colour is much more affordable, so it's likely (unless your publishing say a photography book), you want to be using standard colour. Premium is better quality, but it will price you out of the market in most cases.

    • @Yawamu
      @Yawamu Місяць тому

      @@selfpublishingempire standard colour should be at least 72 pages, so should we choose a premium colour for kid story book under 72 pages?

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  Місяць тому

      I don't think I'd publish a book below 72 pages personally, but if you can publish less than 72 with premium then yeah that's what you'd need to do.

    What would you say is a good number of sales per day for a new coloring book with amazon ads enabled??

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  Місяць тому +1

      It's so hard to say. If it's a competitive niche then 10s per day, if it's a well researched niche without much competition then 1 a day would probably be fine.

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  Місяць тому +1

      I use publisher rocket and book bolt sometimes for keyword research. They tend to be good for ideas. Best way if you have the time is using Amazon search bar, and then making sure there's not like 10,000+ results and then making sure the books on the first page are selling (under 100,000 BSR)

    • @selfpublishingempire

    thanks for the video. do i understand correctly. you don't use the keywords you used in the description when uploading but look for words you want to get high in the ranging. once you have achieved some sales and the book is on page 1 then you stop advertising.

    • @selfpublishingempire
      @selfpublishingempire  Місяць тому +1

      you can use the keywords in the description if you like, as long as they are searchable keyword strings. And once they're ranking I'll keep the ads going for a bit longer, turn them down, and then if they're not directly profitable turn them off.
