im so sick of these people working on projects like AI, neuralink, and literal mind reading technology and then going public and being like “im so worried about how this technology is going to be used, but it could be life changing” how naive of human nature do you really have to be to think that this wont be weaponized in every possible form by the psychopaths running our societies?
ye then putting the chill music under the video is like being in a cringe criminal movie, the human nature is dangerous, they would share and make everything for dopamine while others use the information to program the AI before knowing what they even want to do with their AI and their life or others, even not caring about consequences and responsibility, im terryfied how information without bounds can lead to total chaos, from my perspective of course, then who is responsible to control infinite growth and make everything harder to achive for a higher value porpuse for economy instead chasing self oriented goals, the gov and tech companies seems like totally irresponsible for anything to decide what to do, make even higher profits or hardening the power to control and make laws to make the world safe with conscientiousness, does the systems even work yet or its just an illusion, i would prefer letting the human based performance rule the world instead any machine oriented from my perspective ofc
I used to be pretty comfortable that atleast our minds are free unless I let them chip me up. But brain reading tech has been studied and replicated since decades ago. In India in 2008, a person was declared guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment because of an BEOS test that claimed to distinguish between what a person did to what they say. Needless or maybe necessary to say, it was bullshit and was not recognised as a viable tech by any major institution and the community in general. Now we have actual brain reading means, I don't even know how to take this information, it does sound dystopian, and if people have common sense they could refuse transplantation.
Agreed! So many of us have already been so conditioned to allow someone else or some "higher entity" to have total authority. I am very concerned that people will see this as the natural next step instead of the complete and total surrender of self that it is.
I'm struggling to understand why these very intelligent women believe that future "bad actors" won't be the same ones that we have today. The bad actors are/will be big Tech, global corporations, and our own governments. This technology will be used on us the same way that current technology is being used on us. The challenge is that this technology is far more efficacious, far more functional at controlling and monetizing all populations and their thoughts, actions, and behavior. The human population does not currently have the ethics or policy to manage our current Tech so that the risk-benefit equation is worth current technologies existence. Any further progress in technologies abilities will only hurt humans on average. There will be benefits, but, using today's Tech as a benchmark, New neurotech will be a tragedy for the average human.-see social media as an example.
social media actully is one of the best exemples. none of the companies give the puplic the ability to configure their search algoritm and here we are . still the same thing trying to put blinders on information as any other legacy media. u can think whatewer u want but only on the subject we show u .
The tech capabilities are so far beyond what we can imagine and there is so much that hasn’t been disclosed to us yet. And I can’t help but notice a recurring coincidence, but I get ads and content served up that are directly related to some random thought I quietly think to myself. Probably just a coincidence but it seems to happen somewhat frequently
I'm very concerned about the combination of neurotechnology & cognitive warfare (which is mass psychology & social engineering + AI mass targeting methods ALA Cambridge Analytica)... oh good she's talking about cognitive warfare!
Yea, this does not end well for people with mental illness. I wonder, where we will draw the line someday, what is allowed to be thought of and what not. There is just so much control you can assert to your own mind. Uff.
Person 1: I know what youre thinking Person 2: I know that you know what im thinking Person 1: I know that you know that I know what youre thinking Person 2: I know that you know that i know that you know what im thinking
A popular article came out early last year titled "Tiktok as a Chinese weapon of mass pleasure" that went into detail predicting a lot of what we're seeing today. I honestly think the Biden admin saw the article and began considering this legislation largely influenced on this.
I remember in my 20s telling friends that I wanted mind reading technology in order to easily log all of my millions of ideas that race in my mind too fast to write down
As with most tech. They are tools. A hammer is a tool. A hammer in the hands of one would result in something being built. A hammer in the hands of another would result in something, or someone, being destroyed. You are spot on, man.
Nice topic material. From biofeedback and corrective to psychological modeling of individuals. The epileptic pace maker shows you can have crosstalk of a type. The ocular, cochlear implants get into using A.I. to decode. Optogenetics and bioluminesense another type of I/O. FMRI and decoding dreams. The ability to trigger biochemical effects and induce states in people. One big misconception a lot seem to have is. Multitasking lines of thought. Humans are optimized for single tasks. The more a person devides attention, the wore/less effective they are. What you missed is. Replacing cells and functions from one substrate to another. Checking at each step. At what point does the human stop being human. The ship of theseus paradox/problem. Also things like lie detection coupled with patern recognition to not only detect the lie but closely figure out what they are hidding from the picture flashes and questioning structure. From detecting spies, to criminals. Another slightly touched on is brain training for the adapted network. Just like learning to walk. It takes repetitive training to reinforce the network.
Q: "Are these kinds of technologies even accepted under international law? Are there even any laws that, like would... apply to them?" A: "Really good question [laughs]... and... unclear, right..."
What we have to ask and keep in mind no pun involved. Will this tech be to/for/at/ or against human beings. This tech has been introduced as against. And now the human race is being "at" we started tech against. Tech is now at. It hasn't been "for" or "to" humanity as a whole at all. That's what kicked off accelerationism in economy and war.
If we’re in a simulation then I think our brains are organs of delusion and illusion. The bigger the brain the more the “Simulent” thinks it has free will. I’m about50/50 on simulation currently =] if it is a simulation then there is a use for a philosophy and creed to navigate it and be happy. It’s surprisingly compatible with Hinduism, Buddhism and other self actualizing persuits =] 🌊🏄♂️🪷
These amazing advancements in technology would be wonderful, if we lived in a world where we have overcome greed. We are too self centred and unaccepting of others that this technology will be abused by those who have a need for greed and dominance.
Why does nobody talk about the full story? NBIC(nano-bio-info-cogno) convergence! It about how nanotechnology('minimally invasive' neural interface, superparamagnetic nanoparticles, bionanomachines) biotechnology(molecular communications, viral vectors for magneto/sono/optogenetic gene editing) digital technology (nextG broadband, IoT, big data, blockchain, modeling and simulation) and neurotechnology, its always been about the convergence of these technologies and people seem especially uncomfortable disclosing about nano like they be signing NDAs or something
Functional biometrics are not more secure than a password. They are, in essence, a password behind a biometric API, and if you can own the device I/O, you can get the token generated by the biometric software. Basically, like a keyboard logger can capture passwords. It is a bit more difficult, but isn't a problem for an informed adversary. This in mind, the same people who want to hack brains are saying that functional biometrics are "more secure". So, yeah.
Imagine trying to log into your phone with your biometrics to call 911 but because your drink was spiked your biometrics are off. I guess that’s not an entirely unlikely outcome.
awesome video but at 4943 the closed captions just dissapear and dont come back for the rest of your video. im sad cuz im hearing impaired and cant hear you guys so i guess i dont get to enjoy the rest of the video. thanks for the video anyways.
Thanks for flagging that to us, we're very sorry this happened! We've now fixed the closed captions for this episode so that they run correctly through the entire video.
No matter how hard we try to appeal to our higher ideals its human nature to violate sacred boundaries with technology. Ethics should always be upheld but now that god is dead there are no consequences except the ones we impose upon ourselves
1x.5 doesn’t cause the number to “multiply” in the sense that the author is describing it. Since a half isn’t more than one, it doesn’t indicate a mathematical problem. (Multiplying not increasing the value..) It points to a LANGUAGE failure by not being specific or accurate in the definition of “multiply” A new word for multiply in math would solve that unnecessary puzzle
Interesting since optical nerves ingest far more data - the human brain is playing catch up as it processes. I imagine the real ethical boundary is not implanted devices; it will be manipulation and genetic editing unlocking the human brain. Next rubicon will be ethical who receives optimization and who is left behind or will everyone receive? We will have moved into a surface and ability to transfer / copy / edit / upload/download human consciousness?
It's funny how Technology, at first aimed to make human life conveniently easier, is becoming so "easy" on the human life, that it grows inherently in-human.
That basically describes at least half of modern technological advancement. I'm not a luddite, but just because we can create something doesn't mean that we should. Technology needs to be developed in such a way that, as you said, advances human interests and flourishing. Instead, our misanthropic elites are trying to erase us in favor of a posthuman, transhumanist future that won't even benefit them like they think it will in the end.
We need to make some major laws requiring massive large scale group public oversights (not just congressional) within all govt & contractor intel & military programs including black. Something akin to jury duty. We are reaching very dangerous levels of technology.
Ok, so 1:49:00, when I was not sure about what she was talking about, but she doesnt know how does actually emotions and information sharing work, and how should work, and how it was working over te evolution of humans and other spicies, and what are the posible outcomes of changing FUNDAMENTALS of life aspects, she thinks it would be best case scenario to telepatically think and share feelings with others, I mean its TERRYFIES me that she thinks this would be good, I can think complex and abstract, so I see the end and starts of things very well, and I think it would be catastropic to make this happen in ANY TIME EVER.
Surely I'm going to get gaslight for having an obvious concern despite a litnay of reasons but I have added discomfort with the thouggt of however some sick actor intends to leverage this texh on black folks.. like every other "happenstance" obstacle.
This is why we need oversight in this field. The military will have to protect its people from abuse of this technology from civilians hurting other civilians. This is scary but yet in the proper hands/caretakers it could change medical care for the good. Im optimistic but understand the problems this could bring and has brought in real world time.
im so sick of these people working on projects like AI, neuralink, and literal mind reading technology and then going public and being like “im so worried about how this technology is going to be used, but it could be life changing” how naive of human nature do you really have to be to think that this wont be weaponized in every possible form by the psychopaths running our societies?

Ya, true.
Correct ✅
Yep. It's called cognitive dissonance. "Gee it can be used for good or bad," is a defense mechanism from reality.
Now we have actual brain reading means, I don't even know how to take this information, it does sound dystopian, and if people have common sense they could refuse transplantation.
Let's not legitimize things like this. A person’s thoughts are sacred and should be kept private. This is literally violating people's thoughts.
Agree. But you're way too late
Agreed! So many of us have already been so conditioned to allow someone else or some "higher entity" to have total authority. I am very concerned that people will see this as the natural next step instead of the complete and total surrender of self that it is.
What if it's already happening
Definitely. The level of privacy you want should be an individual choice.
Do you think anything is held sacred under capitalism other than profit?
If society was actually designed, purposed, for human quality of life, things would already be very different
We are in trouble.
Literally.
I'm struggling to understand why these very intelligent women believe that future "bad actors" won't be the same ones that we have today. 12 years ago a MIT engineer created a chip to read thoughts to type them. Great for paraplegic.
The tech capabilities are so far beyond what we can imagine and there is so much that hasn’t been disclosed to us yet. And I can’t help but notice a recurring coincidence, but I get ads and content served up that are directly related to some random thought I quietly think to myself. I've noticed it, too. So have people I've talked to in person.
Been noticing that as well. Things that I had thought about appearing on the feed. then thinking about, whether or not i had said something aloud
Three words: double-edged sword
Those are two words, but I like your spirit.
Yeah
same as always .. top managing the bottom wiht every means it has
Minority Report. It's already possible Lords knows what else is in store.. 🤔
I'm very concerned about the combination of neurotechnology & cognitive warfare (which is mass psychology & social engineering + AI mass targeting methods ALA Cambridge Analytica)... oh good she's talking about cognitive warfare!
I'd also rather these experts to not be in the "World Economic Forum", or the ivory tower of academia!
Rip people with intrusive thoughts
Yea, this does not end well for people with mental illness. I wonder, where we will draw the line someday, what is allowed to be thought of and what not. There is just so much control you can assert to your own mind. Uff.
Die gedanken sind frei. Thoughts are free. Keep it that way.
Gedanken is a noun, you need to capitalize that word. Helft den Armen vögeln means something entirely different from helft den armen Vögeln.
You think your thoughts are free but most of us are already ideologically imprisoned.
This will not end well
Person 1: I know what youre thinking
Person 2: I know that you know what im thinking
Person 1: I know that you know that I know what youre thinking
Person 2: I know that you know that i know that you know what im thinking
So glad I found this channel
it is laughable how poorly our society understands the brain and depression
"We don't have the supersoldiers yet." 😂
I would counter that's definitely incorrect.
We need to stop this technology
A popular article came out early last year titled "Tiktok as a Chinese weapon of mass pleasure" that went into detail predicting a lot of what we're seeing today. I honestly think the Biden admin saw the article and began considering this legislation largely influenced on this.
I remember in my 20s telling friends that I wanted mind reading technology in order to easily log all of my millions of ideas that race in my mind too fast to write down
can you do this to humans without their permission ??! This isnt the old days you know ??
This could really go both directions, great or absolutely terrifying.
history says:
we will go to both extremes
Considering how social media data was used to force Brexit and Trump, which direction are you expecting this tech to go?
We know its going the terrifying route. I'm sure its already in function
As with most tech.
They are tools.
A hammer is a tool.
A hammer in the hands of one would result in something being built.
A hammer in the hands of another would result in something, or someone, being destroyed.
You are spot on, man.
No, only bad.

Its quite clear you have considered this technology. Nice comment
Q: "Are these kinds of technologies even accepted under international law? Are there even any laws that, like would... apply to them?"
A: "Really good question [laughs]... and... unclear, right..."
Oh yea even in the beginning when she said she knows it can be used for bad things and the interviewer brushes it off
I love your passion I'm not going to lie. God bless..🙏💖🕊️
Loving this conversation. Thank you for sharing it here. 🙏🏼☺️
Definitely need to clamp down on this since its been introduced in wearsbles and medical access in the genersl public.
WOW! I'm speechless too!
I need a helmet ⛑️ like magneto, imagine when they can use your phone against you to see what you seeing and use you like a drone .
The tin foil hats
Scary business.
Need to ban this stuff along with ai.
Thank you 🦋

Amazing podcast.
Real question, can it be done wirelessly/remotely.... I'm guessing yes
does this play into we are a simulation

I hate the future
No matter how hard we try to appeal to our higher ideals its human nature to violate sacred boundaries with technology. Ethics should always be upheld but now that god is dead there are no consequences except the ones we impose upon ourselves
I always think of the poem whitey goes to space. We still have poverty and suffering and yet this is what they are thinking of making
Bad news for humanity

Nice
Half of one or .5 is a fraction-percentage. There’s no need to invent something new if you understand the language
Yes you end up doing division to solve. The point is multiply is the right terminology.

interesting
Neil Postman comes to mind.
Trying to play god never ends well 😂
They already abusing it
All this tech is a mimick of our latent organic abilities.
Psychopass
Sad that everything has to be militarised...
2049....
WW3 around the corner.

More hype than real science.
Bad news for those with OCD
It's funny how Technology, at first aimed to make human life conveniently easier, is becoming so "easy" on the human life, that it grows inherently in-human.
Nice transhumanist podcast with a wef expert
33:00 Is that her way of saying there are DEFINITELY more applications that she just isn't ALLOWED to discuss? 🤷♂️
This technology is a priori misaligned with human interest and flourishing.
It was always intended to be so, "in this world only some will triumph."
That basically describes at least half of modern technological advancement. I'm not a luddite, but just because we can create something doesn't mean that we should. Meditate
Do y'all want Panopticon?
Because that's how you get Panopticon.
privacy is gonna be a luxury. We might very easily lose control and capitalism will make sure of it.

Yeah utopians always think they are doin good
The more this technology progresses, the more viable and prophetic Metal Gear Solid seems like. Those who know, know…
Why is it that the people warning us of the dangers of AI are the very same people that are funding and fueling its advance?
My question is what happens when you get a migraine
They turn down their lasers for you before blasting your brain again.
the solution stop letting companies have power
If a technology can be made to perform some task, often the same technology can be reworked into a countermeasure for that tech.
ah: the real-time "Thought Police"
Sign me up! I need my brain fixed! 😂

I imagine a poet flying a swarm of drones. For that matter, what would militaries do with poets?
Apply this to career political hacks for total govt transparency 😅
Lets give it to the world ruling psychopaths, what can go wrong
I only like the background music. That I can agree with.
Minority Report here we come! Welcome to mall city babes
Does anyone know who that was that gave her a demo of his neuro device at the royal society conference or what the device was?
Did they try Psychedelics 1st or hypnosis tho? This is creepy.
This is the beginning of the end. This is not good.
conclusion: start your own company.
amazing talk
Trojan horse of the mind!
We're still waiting for humanity and to...... "Input"
The only way true virtual reality can work is perfect AI and mind reading technology keeping up with the human mind. Its coming.
