Tidewater Park looks so quiet compared to how it was in the 80's and 90's. I have also been reading that the city of Norfolk approved for the housing project to be demolished in the next 10 years. I feel bad for all the people that live out there.
@@jaymunna757 I get frustrated everytime I think about that. Yes, there are issues out there but they are forcing hundreds of people out of their homes and breaking up a true community. All that to add in expensive housing and retail to shift the demographics near the downtown area.
Had a Amazon delivery to these projects...never again lol I stopped because my delivery address was close so I was looking for the number..and all of a sudden a guy opened his front door about 150ft from where I was parked and just opened gun fire at a car parked in the road the car then sped off..I was about to jump out of my skin..dangerous doesn't even come close to describe these projects

Lived out Norfolk throughout the whole 90's and even.Even though I stayed out a decent part of town (Colley and 52) the city was low-key dangerous and all the schools coming up were bad af. don't really realize that until you move away lol
The Navy forced me to live there. Being from Wyoming, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Virginia Beach was talked about like it was heaven on earth. When I saw that dump, I just laughed. Fucking people there don't know what a nice place to live is.

@@StromLxrd6 bro it's okay BUT its completely different from the 7 cities back home....back home in Norfolk,Virginia beach,Chesapeake, Suffolk,Portsmouth, Hampton & Newport news we have so many nice quite places to settle down & get married have kids & just raise a family....plus you have alot of things to do in Hampton roads, we got the Virginia beach oceanfront, The waterpark, Gokart track, TopGolf, putt putt golf, Skyzone, Several bounce house type places for kids, The museum next to the waterpark in Virginia beach, Waterside in Norfolk with Nauticus, the Norfolk Naval shipyard, Portside in Portsmouth, Virginia beach town center....these are just a very small amount of things to do in Hampton roads but there is tons more like Busch gardens in Williamsburg Virginia & many more...plus Hampton roads is close to alot of other happening places like 3.5 hours from DC, very close to college basketball country in Durham, Raleigh,Chapel Hill NC etc.... on the other hand here in Stockton California yes its rough & everywhere you go there is homeless out the ass, it took us 3 months to find a house & we feel it's the best we could afford in a decent neighborhood....we got 3 kids so we had to make sure it was in a good school district, we pay $310k for a 4 bedroom 2 car garage home in a gated community but once we come out of our gates its homeless walking up & down our street & with there shopping karts stacked 8 feet high with all there shit. Not much for kids to do here & it's only 13% African American....alot of gangs here & everybody wants to act like they a gangbanger even if they not...smh

With that acknowledgment, may I ask why you decide to excoriate communities instead of advocating for the beautification of these towns? There's park place, tidewater park, young's park, diggs park, oak leaf park, the vill. Ocean view, norview and much more been through all not just driving by actually knowing people from different areas an going place at different times of my life when i was a lot younger. I Remember The Projects That Were Behind The Norfolk Scope Arena Back In The Early 80s. We Used To Cop Weed From There! But If Those Cats Didn't Know You, You Were In Big Trouble! I Found Out Later That's Where Pernell Whitaker Grew Up!
Born n Raised in the 7 city Tidewater Area, NORFOLK.....entire city...worthless. Portsmouth..same but smaller and WORSE. Entire area is expensive to live in...many military bases guarantee $$$ for offbase housing. Rents and just about everything is more in VA. Welcome to the Commonwealth!
Same here I don't remember it being quite like this. I could have filmed a lot more but I started too late. I almost want to stay another day and also get night time footage. There were lot of very active hood areas even more so than Richmond.
CharlieBo313 Anybody will tell you Richmond is more active than NORFOLK. Richmond has wayyy more hoods than NORFOLK. Richmond probably has just as many hoods as the entire NORFOLK, Portsmouth , va beach , Chesapeake , Suffolk , bad news and Hampton areas combined. You just didn’t know where to go. You need a tour guide for Richmond . Norfolk you missed south side like someone previously said . Berkley, Diggs Town projects , Oakleaf projects. You also missed Park Place , Huntersville . These 5 hoods in Norfolk would be easily the worst. Not that downtown area. Portsmouth all the projects got torn down.
My old hangouts...I use to pick up so many freaks in Norfolk ....me & my boy would just drive thru all the housing projects in Norfolk & catch them in there daisy dukes walking to the tiny giant & corner stores in the summer, then it's to the motel 6 on military highway...

Check out Portsmouth, although looking on the map now a lot of the OG hoods are gone, Effingham st to the water there was a chemical spill at the plant there and they kicked everyone out and there use to be tons of abandon homes there. Lincoln Park and around there you still might find some old skool stuff.
This brings back memories born in oceanview, norfolk First Bay #PrettyLakeAve back in the early 2000's it was wild out there. Now things have calmed down.

I lived in VA Beach from HS till my mid 20s. I graduated ‘03. This city’s progressive decline was sad. It’s worse than ever. Started seeing street whores standing on sidewalks, people high on crack doing weird shit, increased shootings, pimps tryin to talk to me, gas stations had started puttIng up plexy glass shields. got damn scary. There was a club scene on waterside blvd, but it got shut down cuz they were serving minors or somethin. Everything went to shit there after. Ghent area was real nice, don’t know if it still is...could someone lmk?

In its heyday, back a few years ago a lot of these places were Military Housing.. Maybe some still it.. Its been a few years.. Reminds me a lot of Groton Connecticut..

At this point, Virginia Beach is more dangerous than Norfolk. But Norfolk is still very dangerous. To those of us that are from there, it's nothing, but once we leave we realize how bad it was.
Lol. 757 is ok. 804 is way better in terms of things to do if you don't want to go to the beach every day. Norfolk is ok. I live here now. The military and industry take up to much real estate and land that could be used for housing or recreation. Not to mention the projects are right in the middle of the city. It's hard to run on the streets without accidentally ending up in the projects or another blighted neighborhood

monica english + The hood is not a constant gunfight. In most hoods, nothing happens with exception for short incidents, whether random or constant, depending on the hood.
gotta hit up Ocean View in Norfolk pleasant ave....ocean view is crazy because on one side you have high quality homes near the beach front then on the other side of the street behind the stores and what not you have straight hood lol
My hometown Norfolk Va. My grandmother was born here as was my mother and myself. I've been in NYC over 10 years now but the 757 is still home. Back in the 90s/2000s Norfolk was NOTHING sweet at all. Lost alot of soldiers out there. Sad that most of these projects are about to be torn down. Norfolk is about to get a huge face lift!

When I lived there, I lived in one of the nicest areas and still heard gunshots at night.

Same here I don't remember it being quite like this. I could have filmed a lot more but I started too late. I almost want to stay another day and also get night time footage. There were lot of very active hood areas even more so than Richmond.

Richmond probably has just as many hoods as the entire NORFOLK, Portsmouth , va beach , Chesapeake , Suffolk , bad news and Hampton areas combined. You just didn’t know where to go. You need a tour guide for Richmond . Norfolk you missed south side like someone previously said . Berkley, Diggs Town projects , Oakleaf projects. You also missed Park Place , Huntersville . These 5 hoods in Norfolk would be easily the worst. Not that downtown area. Portsmouth all the projects got torn down.
My old hangouts...I use to pick up so many freaks in Norfolk ....me & my boy would just drive thru all the housing projects in Norfolk & catch them in there daisy dukes walking to the tiny giant & corner stores in the summer, then it's to the motel 6 on military highway...

Check out Portsmouth, although looking on the map now a lot of the OG hoods are gone, Effingham st to the water there was a chemical spill at the plant there and they kicked everyone out and there use to be tons of abandon homes there. Lincoln Park and around there you still might find some old skool stuff.
Yeah most of the low income housing in Portsmouth are gone like Jeffrey Wilson (J Dub), Ida Barbour, Howard Park....

I lived in VA Beach from HS till my mid 20s. I graduated ‘03. This city’s progressive decline was sad. It’s worse than ever. Started seeing street whores standing on sidewalks, people high on crack doing weird shit, increased shootings, pimps tryin to talk to me, gas stations had started puttIng up plexy glass shields. got damn scary. There was a club scene on waterside blvd, but it got shut down cuz they were serving minors or somethin. Everything went to shit there after. Ghent area was real nice, don’t know if it still is...could someone lmk?

Lol. 757 is ok. 804 is way better in terms of things to do if you don't want to go to the beach every day. Norfolk is ok. I live here now. The military and industry take up to much real estate and land that could be used for housing or recreation. Not to mention the projects are right in the middle of the city. It's hard to run on the streets without accidentally ending up in the projects or another blighted neighborhood

My hometown Norfolk Va. My grandmother was born here as was my mother and myself. I've been in NYC over 10 years now but the 757 is still home. Back in the 90s/2000s Norfolk was NOTHING sweet at all. Lost alot of soldiers out there. Sad that most of these projects are about to be torn down. Norfolk is about to get a huge face lift!
