    It's hard to believe I've had my 2004 ZRX1200R for a decade now, and she's just as strong and beautiful as the day I bought her. It's a lot of fun to go back and look at these old reviews. 10 years on, every fawning word remains true. These bikes will be big collector's items someday, not that I ever plan to sell mine. :-)

    I have the ZRX 11OO and the ZRX1200s,with out a doubt the best motor cycles I have ever owned..great for touring and in the twisties or track days ,we have plenty of mixed riding conditions in Australia and these bikes eat it up.

    I have the A6F 2006 model. I’ve had it from new (13yrs). It is by far the best retro to own. I will never let mine go.

      I'm 60. I bought an '03 [blue] 4+ years ago. Couldn't be happier. I'm not sure if I like it better than the original GPz550 I bought new in August 1981.

    I have a 2002 REX and it would take the jaws of life to pry it out of my hands. I owned it from new and it's the best bike, out of 15 bikes, that I have ever owned.

      What a beautiful bike. Right now I am trying to decide if I should get the BMW K1300S, Honda Blackbird 1100XX, Kawasaki ZRX1200R or a Kawasaki ZX12R. Hm.... Decisions, decisions.

    zrx 1200r is VERY rare here in Canada...The naked muscle bikes don't seem to sell well here.. The xjr 1300, the cb1400, and the gsx 1400 weren't even sold here. I Like the hardware on the zrx. everything is anodized and coated and well thought out, which imo is proof that a bike can have a minimalist look, without looking cheap. even if it doesn't perform much better than the rest of its peers, I for one would pay more for the hardware, fit, and finish. Yamaha and Kawasaki does a good job of that.

    Since the engine comes from the ZZR1200 or ZX12 Ninja, it should not be hard enough to bring up 158.8 BHP hidden from the original ZZR engine.

    • @neighbourhoodmusician
      @neighbourhoodmusician 5 років тому

      150 odd bhp at the wheel is certainly possible with the 1100. You can use zx11 cams.

    HOW did they not review the Suzuki Bandit with those other bikes???

    • @DolleHengst
      @DolleHengst 10 років тому +1

      That's not a true musclebike like these big bikes. That's why they picked the Suzuki GSX 1400

    • @455Transam
      @455Transam 10 років тому +2

      DolleHengst You're wrong
      The Bandit 1200 has GS muscle bike lineage, just like the ZRX1200.

      I bought a 1200 Bandit off of my friend in '08. 4 years ago I got an '03 ZRX 1200r. The Bandit is lower to the ground which makes turning easier. But, I prefer the Kawi. I'm a Kawasaki guy. I'll be happy with the ZRX through my 60's at least.

      The Eddie Lawson Replica, Replica, Replica, Replica🤣 First was the original Z1000R ELR, then came the 1100cc one, then the ZXR1100 then the ZXR1200.😆

    Very cool machines. As far as being better, off the showroom floor, than what Eddie Lawson raced in AMA Superbike, well...er, no! Lawson's lime green #21 would be close to a hundred pounds lighter in racing trim, making nearly 40 more horsepower, while running GP-spec brakes on tuned suspension with racing slicks and mag wheels.

  • @Terry-kv2je

    Odd, the one bike that clearly beats it all the way around isn't even tested, the FZ1

    • @aydinvideo
      @aydinvideo 10 років тому +5

      The fz1 is a naked sportbike, not a musclebike. Totally different, and for sure does not beat the zrx.

    • @Terry-kv2je
      @Terry-kv2je 10 років тому

      Opinions vary. No sense arguing online. They are similar genre bikes and the Yamaha simply out performs it in every category.

    • @aydinvideo
      @aydinvideo 10 років тому +7

      No, they are different category bikes completely. I already wrote in my first comment, the fz1 is a 1000cc naked sportbike, the zrx is a 1200cc musclebike- that LOOKS like it's right out of the 1970's-1980's. Retro muscle in a modern package. I own a 2008 R1. The fz1 engine is based on it, just less powerful. I also have a zrx1200, and the torque is much broader and comes on way sooner. For a street machine, that's a helluva lot more fun then a peaky top end rush (although that is awesome too, but if you want that, buy the R1- then you get all the power)
      so the ZRX vs the fz1 are completely different, and the extra 200cc +added torque puts it in such a position that around town, and off the line it's way more fun (at least in my opinion). If you want big HP, get a literbike or a hyperbike. If you want torque, get a zrx12.
      If you want something inbetween, get a fz1. I can easily use all the zrx's tire up dragging knee in the canyons- so the suspension and handling is comparable to a slightly softer sportbike- but the look sets it apart from all the run-of-the-mill nakes sportbikes- like the fz1.
      But by all means, buy what you like best.
