Historical (??) note: In early days of dubbing scene in Japan, there were times when foreign language movies played on TV were recorded LIVE, due to lack of recording equipment. With movies usually being broadcasted at night, that meant they could NOT bring in child cast because of labor laws. Hence was born custom to cast female VA to young boys before voice change. One of the pioneer in such casting was Masako Nozawa, the vc for Goku, Gohan and Goten in Dragon Ball franchise (and Guinness Book Record holder for the longest serving cast to a gaming character) As much as grown up male VA doing young male child is rare as Ayumu-san, Daisuke Namikawa is another rare cast who can do males of both before and after voice change. He has done stunt of switching from man in his late 20's to teenager on the fly (Casebook of Lord Elmeroi ep 13 19:30)
