the fact that people would rather sacrifice smiling, sleeping and laughing to fit into a beauty standard is so horrifying. I hope these people are okay. :(
Seriously, how much do these people hate themselves? Happy, mentally healthy people don't obsess over their appearance. It makes me wonder if these people's lives are so tightly controlled by others that their appearance is the only thing they have control over, so they're going overboard.
@@astrowolvez Is it raw or soft boiled? Because soft boiled indicates they're at least partially cooked. Not to mention the rice that is mixed in with the eggs is usually warm, so the heat from the rice would cook the egg even further.
I feel like "Aging gracefully" is about, like, leaning into your aging and developing your style alongside it, not about desperately trying to prevent it
that's the original meaning but of course these tiktok dermatologists and ps surgeons have twisted it into a concept that will give them the most customers

Honestly the one twitter user was right, aging is infinitely less worrisome than whatever in the world is going on with the people who are terrified of aging.
It is extreme body dysmorphia. They have likely been picked on by family members and/or grew up with a parent who had the same mental issue. It’s a real shame that body dysmorphia is treated differently than other mental illnesses. Depression, anxiety and eating disorders are taken seriously by the majority. Body dysmorphia is apparently just something for brands to take advantage of.
@@fart63 I think people should do whatever it is best for their mental health so they can feel comfortable in their own body. They're not harming anyone if they're trying their best to prevent themselves from aging. I think they should even get surgery so they can feel younger.
@@fart63 one correction, brands take advantage of other mental illnesses too. From pharmaceutical brands jacking up the price of medicines to the alcohol industry preying on the vulnerable

Esthetician here: Reminder that emotionless girl has no proof that not showing emotions will prevent wrinkles. She won't know until she gets much older, which she will inevitably get wrinkles anyway because everyone's collagen and elastin dies and there's nothing you can do about it 😊 also a large portion of good skin is genetics.
In your opinion, do you think she has botox? I don't intend to shame her and she denied it but it really looks like she has had a few injections and I'm basing that on seeing people that have had it.
I think the stress of trying to not sleep on your face, doing a 281-step skin care routine, trying not to smile, frown or move your face at all… will probably age you way faster than just enjoying your life
The way that this anti aging movement on TikTok looks-like the addiction and obsession aspect of it-makes me think that this is a slippery slope to basically ending up mentally where people with EDs are at. It may be substantially less harmful physically, but the mental toll will probably be just as bad.
Finding out that a tik toker stops herself from laughing, sleeping comfortably and literally going outside just to fit into a beauty standard truly is some dystopian hellscape shit. Like first I laughed at how privileged and out of touch she is, but then I thought about how many meaningful life experiences she would have missed out on despite having the time and money for it and that shit's just sad.
The only thing that could make this worse is if someone made disposable, single use versions of the anti-wrinkle straws. They won't, and I can sleep easy on my side because of it.
the segment showing how much money the products cost is underrated... if tiktok is making you feel insecure about how you care for your skin, please just remember that there's a whole industry that stands to profit from you feeling that way.
Some people do need more skincare products like if you have acne, excema, hyperpigmentation etc as certain products do different things with different things/ingredients but yes a lot of these are excessive and a bit of a waste if you have clear skin already as there more basic options and cheaper products that are effective for different skin. Just a thought.

Its literally like saying I never want to sprain my ankles so I just stopped using my leg muscles when I walk
Yes, it does sound miserable and then when they get to 40 or 50 years old and I have wrinkles anyway, they’re gonna be a little bit disappointed. Wrinkles don’t come from stretching out skin, wrinkles come from your facial muscles relaxing over time.
It is tragic. Nothing in life is more meaningful to me than expressing and sharing true emotion. My face is the medium by which I sculpt my thoughts and feelings. To inhibit that expression is akin to self-castration.
Oh I absolutly agree with wearing sunscreen to protect yourself from skincancer. But it really spirals downwards after that. Next Thing is wearing sunscreen keeps you looking young and than suddenly it’s all about not getting wrinkles at all

Me too! I love my smile lines because it shows I’ve had so many things to laugh about and love. Every wrinkle holds a special meaning and a timeless memory. Why should you want to erase that?
You know what ages you faster than all those things? Stress and anxiety. Constantly thinking about how everything is causing wrinkles is going to age all these people lmao
Huh. I always thought my chronic anxiety would kill me faster but I somehow hadn’t thought it would also age me faster. Darn, now I have a new anxiety. 😂

Anti-aging routine - buy products $$$$, no pillow at night, no straws (alternatively, carry anti-wrinkle straw in your purse just in case), limit smiling, always hold phone at face level, wear gloves and face shield in car (if you must go out) Pro-aging routine - watch a funny movie/video every day, have some belly laughs, smile at strangers, enjoy a day at the beach, sleep peacefully
That is actually going to get you high as a kite. I like to say that smiling is my drug of choice - if you smile for 20 minutes str8 it released a chemical in your brain that is akin to a opiate / when you start the smile you don't even have to mean it - but, by the time 20 minutes go by, sure enough you do mean it. By the way, the word 'giddy' is a neurological term... HAVE A GORGEOUS DAY ! 😊
I feel like that "anti-wrinkle" straw was actually invented for people who are medically unable to purse their lips. I feel like physical limitations is something none of these "clean girls" have ever had to really think about. It's hard to have a biggest fear be getting wrinkles or losing some elasticity when real aging problems - like losing mobility or mental function - exist.
Such a good point! I wonder how the suction works too - right after I had my wisdom teeth out, I wasn't supposed to use straws because of the stitches in my mouth. These straws might cause the same problems that typical straws do, but it would be great to have a design that helps people after oral surgery. And any issues with pursing lips, either chronic or acute, would definitely mean assistive devices like this would be important
you're probably right; but it was also marketed as an anti wrinkle straw because many ability aids have to be also sold to the general public to make any kind of proffit since the ability aid market is usually handled at a much lower profit margin (and even getting into mass production is hard without some kind of proffits to feed back into the machine) It does look like its designed for someone with real issues though, no one is going to go through the engineering designed to get a straw with one closed end to function properly without either having a guaranteed profit involved, or genuinely wanting to solve a real problem.
I guess you don’t have to worry about losing mental function when you are a Girl like them. When becoming older and getting wrinkles is your biggest worry in life I truly think that there is not very much mental function to begin with. So why worry about losing it? 😂
thank you for bringing this up! im a young adult that doesnt have grate mobility in my mouth or with my fine motor skills and i hate that ppl will tell me something like 'at least your not getting wrinkles!'...i hate that a lot of the daily aids i use for things in my life have to be marketed as something like anti aging or whatever when i need it to not make a mess or choke everytime i want a sip of water. i dont need people to bring beauty standards into my entire life and they certainly shouldnt be appling it to theirs either

I distinctly remember this being my final nail in the tiktok coffin before I had to put it to rest. There was a video of a woman doing a little dance or something of that nature, and I believe she mentioned her age offhandedly, because it was immediately stitched by a woman of that same age with visibly smoother skin holding up a bottle of sunscreen and not saying anything. It was incredibly condescending. When someone possesses wrinkles and sun damaged skin, it’s just something you have to live with; it must not feel great to have someone go on tangents on how to NOT look like you. I had to challenge my personal grievances about vanity. I enjoy skincare and I wear sunscreen, but it had subtly transformed into a fear of looking “aged”; I don’t even remember when I started believing it was a bad thing or what pushed me to do so. But the flippant nature of the comments on that video made me feel sick with myself.
I deleted tik tok about a month and a half ago just as this trend was starting I think. Not just because of this trend, but because of it + all the other toxicity on the app. It was also just extremely addicting and I wasn't getting anything done

@Trinity M thank you for sharing your perspective, this is a great point! This absolutely does need to be spoken about and awareness should be raised. For example, even my melanated ladies can get skin cancer. I’m black myself and have had people shocked that I can get a tan let alone skin cancer. It’s definitely not spoken about within the community. Ngl I was almost happy to get a burn when I went to the Dominican Republic, so I finally understood what the hell my friends were talking about when they got burned after 10mins in the UK summer sun
@Trinity M Skin cancer is an important topic to talk about but the kind of people chadchad and this OP are talking about only talk about protecting yourself from the sun so that you don't look old and "ugly". And they're using people who are just minding their business as examples of what ugly looks like. I don't think anyone would be upset if the discussion centered around skin cancer or other health concerns related to sun exposure and these folks weren't taking random strangers' videos and calling them ugly, but that is not what these people are advocating for.
Aging gracefully really should mean “allowing myself to age in a natural manner and not trying to desperately cling to every shred of ‘youth I have left’ by dying my roots every other day so no one can tell I’m greying like a normal person does”
Right? That's what I thought aging gracefully meant. Like that one old woman who became a model despite all her wrinkles. Apparently, aging gracefully is not trying to age at all??? HUH???

The anti wrinkle straw came up in my instagram explore page, and I commented that if you’re this concerned about aging it’s time to seek professional help. Someone said I don’t know how worried this girl is about aging and ranted at me. Dude, she was literally the “I trained my face not to move” girl. I get preventative skin care. I just turned 30 and I work at a university, primarily with freshmen, and last week when I mentioned my birthday they were all shocked at my age and saying I looked “sooooo young”. And I think that’s part of the problem is that society teaches us that 30 is old.

im not 30 yet lol, not even near it, but I feel like thirty isn't really old, only old compared to a kids age. When I was a bit younger, my mom told me she was in her 30's and I was shocked because she looked like she was in her early 20's. So its just like comparing one age to another I think anyway I don't know how to end this comment and hwhwhsjdjdj
What's even more funny is that they say your beauty ends around 25, meanwhile the most beautiful women in the world (not to everyone but there's a reason why this women is talked about today) Marilyn Monroe, died at the age of 36. She was still considered then, and now at that age to be extremely beautiful. I just don't understand how 25 can be seen as old.

As an older millennial, who has taken pretty good care of himself, I can attest that these people will have a rude wake up call when they realize that no matter what they do, aging does in fact happen.
Honestly, the one that's like "we know" with the eye roll deserves the reality check. In the end, we'll be old and wrinkly and happy, they'll just be old and wrinkly.

the hatred of ageing is genuinely so sad. it is such a beautiful privilege to grow old! every wrinkle is a sign you have emoted, every change is you evolving as a person! not everyone gets the chance to grow old, we should cherish it. we should also not spend our lives punishing ourselves for an unattainable level of ‘health’ that is more based on luck and genetics anyway. eat what you want, do what you want, and enjoy the short time you have on this beautiful planet!
A friend at one point said the wrinkles they hate the most are smile lines. I remember thinking about how odd that was considering that they show how much you’ve smiled, that you’ve had a lot of joy in life.
I saw this quote once and it’s always helped me keep things in perspective when it comes to aging: “growing old is a privilege denied to many” I don’t know who said it, but I think about it often. This world has tried to take me out of it a few times, so I think it’s an honor I’m old enough to get wrinkles in the first place. I wish society didn’t make women hate something that should honestly be seen as an accomplishment.
your quote reminded me of last week when i almost perished in a motorcycle crash i was incredibly lucky because not only did i not fall thus was completely unharmed the damage on both my bike and the other car were also extremely minor (so its not too terribly expensive to fix) anyway value your life because it can be over so quickly and it is so very very precious ^__^ (also i consider wrinkles and scars and so on as BATTLE DAMAGE which makes it sound cooler)
That quote really speaks to me, especially after last week when so many young people died during that Halloween event in Seoul. Our lives can be cut short at any moment so a wrinkle is a sign that we are blessed
this scares me bc what are they going to do when they inevitably do show a sign of aging? when you build your whole life around something that WILL happen, you surround yourself with people whose love for you hinges on it and you lose everything when it does.

Kind of long story about my face wrinkles- I was in my late 20s and I was feeling pretty crappy about all the frown and smile lines I was noticing on my face. I work with disabled adults, and I had a client who was deaf and couldn't speak, but he signed and read lips a little bit. He didn't really take to anyone, but he always seemed to like me most even though I didn't really do anything different than anyone else. I can't sign, but he seemed to understand me when I spoke to him. We had a meeting with him and his mom, and he was signing to her and pointing at me smiling the whole time. Afterwards, she pulled me aside and told me that he was saying that he loved working with me and that I always made his day, because even though he couldn't hear me, my face was so expressive and "loud" that he felt like he could. And that I was the easiest to "talk" to. I had been told my whole life to "fix your face" because I've always been so dramatic with my expressions, and I knew that's why I had the wrinkles I did so young. It made me feel really good that my wrinkles had meant something more, that they meant that I had spent my life expressing my true feelings in every way possible, and that it made life a little more enjoyable for someone else. I love my wrinkles now and every emotion they represent
I needed this comment so much… Thank you for sharing your story. I was also told I was “too expressive” but like you said, I rather be aware I’m being as authentic as possible.
That is so beautiful. I have been insecure about aging but I realized that it’s scarier for me not being able to emote (whether it’s a preventative measure to avoid wrinkles, or getting Botox).
The saddest thing about that anti-wrinkle straw is that it's actually supposed to be like, a disability aid. It was not invented with anti-aging in mind. But of course tiktok girlies co-opted it 🙄
Every single thing meant to assist disabilities gets taken over by those who don't need it and either becomes incredibly expensive, goes out of stock, or ends up banned in places like school and its absolutely infuriating. These aids are not toys.
Source? I googled straws for disabilities and nothing that resembled the one from tiktok came up. Then i googled anti aging straw and dozens of them came up..

"Anti-aging" tips from like a 20-something is so funny to me. You avoid wrinkles because you're a literal child not because you trained your face not to smile 🤣
The same reason why people are afraid of body hair, stretch marks, and fat. If you aren't a rail thin flawless Barbie doll in this world then you're not "beautiful". It's cause society has gaslit us into hating our natural normal bodies.

I’ve started thinking of aging as kind of a privilege. I’m 32 and most of my childhood friends are dead. All through my 20’s I was worried about aging and did a lot to try stopping it. But now at 32 I’m kind of just blown away that I’m still alive. I think of my friends and what they would look like today. And what they would have looked like in 20 years. And it makes me sad that I’ll never know. So I do the little things like sunscreen and moisturizing and stuff but beyond that come what may. I would kill to see some of my friends turn 32.
FUN FACT: The raw egg thing is NOT meant to be eaten raw in the US. In places where eating raw eggs is a common thing , for example, Japan, they have to go through extensive cleaning and bacteria checks to make sure they are safe to consume raw. The US does not eat raw eggs as a common thing so they do not go through this
Also, not cooking your eggs actually makes it harder for your body to absorb the nutrients in them bc the proteins aren’t broken down- you absorb 90% of the protein of cooked eggs, and only 50% of the protein of raw eggs.
Conversely in the UK eggs go through basically absolutely no cleaning at all, to the point where I'd routinely get eggs with little feathers still stuck to them; this is because they come with a waxy coating that seals the egg and almost entirely stops bacteria getting in, wash the egg and you wash this coating off letting bacteria in. The idea is to ensure the chickens are free from disease before the eggs are laid and regular testing of chickens and eggs makes sure of this; in general a healthy chicken lays disease free eggs. The other upside of this is it means conditions for chickens are generally better since battery farming is perfect for breeding disease and it becomes cheaper to just treat the chickens better than to constantly deal with disease.
@@fighterflight when an egg is laid it has a wax-like coating on the shell, it's semi-permiable which means it doesn't completely seal the egg but it does significantly stop bacteria getting through the shell. In the US it's standard practice to wash eggs before sale which removes this coating and lets the bacteria in; in places like the UK they aren't washed so they never lose that natural protection and can be stored without refrigeration.
@@fighterflight All eggs have this layer, the US just washes it off. Also, something they missed was that eggs last longer when they haven’t had the protective layer washed off and can be kept in the larder instead of the fridge
I hate that aging is looked down upon so much but I think what I hate the most is that 'laugh lines' and the lines that appear when you smile a lot are treated like something to fix or be ashamed of. The fact that someone's happy enough that it shows literally all the time(for lack of words and better description) is absolutely beautiful :( these people seem like they're miserable if they structure their entire lives around keeping the same face they had when they were 18
Dude this is what I was thinking. Like smile lines when you meet someone gives you an almost trusting feeling towards them, and suddenly people are scared of it like what???
Exactly! My mother has the most intense smile lines I know and she's such a beautiful woman! Litterally everyone I know compliments the smile lines. It's such a sad life when you can't enjoy someone's happiness
Genuinely think wrinkle obsession is gonna be a named disorder at some point, the levels these people will go to, the constant state of vigilance and thought going into it genuinely reminds me of people describing eating disorders and my own experiences with OCD. Just replace break-ins with aging.
there kind of is already, though it is more generalized than just wrinkles, and more so of getting older and the passage of time. It's called chronophobia
yeah i also have OCD and i think is really interesting how much i understand why these people do what they do and sometimes feel the desire to do obsessive shit like these
My favorite thing about those "anti aging straws" is they force you to purse your lips in the same manner that creates lip wrinkles as a straw, if not even moreso. Because you can use a normal straw and keep your mouth relaxed extremely easily.
I’m autistic, my special interest is sharks, last Saturday I went to the Aquarian and my face started hurting from smiling to much before I even got to the car. It made me think about those people who don’t allow themselves to express pure joy because they’re scared of a natural unharmful process
Hello I have flat affect (I am pretty much unable to show emotions on my face and in my voice) and I am very happy that you can smile a lot so enjoy it 🙌🏻
I'm generally so tired of hearing things like "Oh she looks good for 30" and other things implying that 30 is old. Like, 30 is the end of your first decade of being an adult. You got a lot more to go.
Stop lying to yourself and trying to cope. If things aren't going well for you by the time you are 30 then they probably aren't going to get a lot better. The thing is you know this and yet you continue to lie to yourself and others. Sure there is a lot more time to go but you are already on a bad path if things arent going well at 30. Stop lying to yourself, it will just end in a lot of pain, misery and tears.
@@uyoebyik It isn't misogyny. It goes the same for guys to some degree and they have to be making good money by that point too. All you are doing is trying to cope and lie to yourself, saying nothing is your fault and you have no responsibility for where you are at right now... get a grip
i’m 43, and I absolutely love TikTok and UA-cam. I’m a stay at home mom so I am on either platform pretty much all day. Being 43, I can tell you that the amount of emphasis placed on the horrors of aging hurts my heart almost every day. It’s media telling teenagers and 20 somethings “you don’t wanna end up like this!”. Arrow pointing at me. I’ve aged gracefully, but I do have laugh lines on my face, I do have a tummy, I do have stretch marks from my pregnancy with my daughter. And I’ve never really had a problem with them, but the amount of contents that’s been drilling negativity into my head daily is really just telling me that I am a picture of what not to become. And I’m 43! I think I’m pretty.
"Old" is just a mindset. You're 43 years young and beautiful. Your laugh lines are proof of a happy life lived. Imagine how many thousands of times you must have laughed to create those lines. And stretch marks? Who cares! What's some little marks when you think about the miracle of creating a little perfect human? It seems like such a small trade off for creating a whole other wonderful human life rich with all their experiences, thoughts, and emotions. Why should any of those things be demonized? They're proof of a full and joyous life.
Just delete tiktok. I did as well and it's been no loss. It's shocking, the way tiktok sucks one in, mindlessly scrolling while completely forgetting time. I actually feel my mental health improved after no longer using that mind rotting app.
love how she says her face is "making emotions" and not "expressing emotions" like she doesn't actually have feelings, just knows she's expected to show the appropriate reactions. not weird at all
Ironically, that's actually an issue with getting Botox, according to various studies. When you unable to express emotions with your face, over time it becomes harder for you to interpret your own or other people's emotions. Vivid facial expressions play a big part in our mental well-being.
@@LS-mm5js It must be noted however, that getting botox in the mouth area can also have positive impacts, as it prevents people from frowning and thus has a positive impact on mood, which is really interesting as well

I did work in an organic store for five years, and I was responsible of the cosmetics part. Brands basically wanted me to pressure women who passed the ''old ripe age of 25" to start prepping to eliminate any wrinkle or any type of aging. Plus those who wanted me to push the purchase of a full protocol costing more than 200euros, when another cream, costing 15euros from another brand was doing the same job lol. I like skinc care, and my skin is so dry because of the water quality of where I live that I'm doing a shit tons of mask. But the "you gonna age and be ugly" scare is so vicious. Let us age and express emotions, instead of being expected to be dolls and spend tons of money (and some brand are super dismissive of people not buy they extra costly things...)
It’s hilarious that girls in their 20’s think they’ve cracked the code to not getting wrinkles 😆 Girls, that’s called collagen and it’s what your skin contains lots of at that age. Now don’t have any cosmetic procedures done and come back in talk to me in 20 years and we’ll see about your little routines then.
I am a wrinkly, fat 48 year old person, and I can tell you it's a pretty good life if you have friends and a fulfilling job or hobby. So don't fall for what they are selling you - products or views - and invest your time and money in relationships and learning. Cheers!
I literally love seeing the wrinkles on people’s faces. Some have more smile lines, some have more crows feet, and it shows their personality and life. Visible aging shows maturity. It’s part of embracing yourself to appreciate the way you age.
Also is it just me or does anyone else find wrinkles, especially laugh lines, super charming?? Whenever I see someone with pronounced laugh lines that makes me automatically feel a little bit of joy in my soul. I REALLY don’t understand why you’d want to prevent them and are so adamant about your face showing proof of the fact that you’ve, you know, actually lived, being bad
My brain literally finds someone more appealing and likeable if they have laugh lines around their eyes. It's a subconscious association with the person being more genuine. 🤷♀
If they're cute. Me, I'm starting to look like my mother, and whilst this tiny-mouthed doll face I've got was cute when I was 20, I'm starting to look like a thin Nell van Dort from freakin' Corpse Bride because of how unfortunate my laugh lines are. Nothing charming about it.
As an artist, getting to learn to draw faces changed my whole view on beauty. I'm gonna be honest and say that deliberately making your faces uneven to make them more natural and pleasing taught me a valuable lesson. I find beauty and intricacy in wrinkles, skin imperfections, bumps, scars and bruises; they're what adds details and tell stories without the need for words. Drawing a smooth and perfect face is boring. This view on art is what made me marvel at imperfections and love every single one of them! I am excited to age and see my body change to reflect my life experiences! True beauty, in my opinion (as beauty has always been subjective, after all), is found within the marks that life has left upon you, as each and everyone of them tells a story, a memory. It is hard to love your body all the time, and it is okay to hate it sometimes. It's the bad days that make the good days shine. But I dearly wish for each and everyone of you to find pride in yourself and the marks your stories left upon you. ❤️
Love this take! I study the brain and have developed a similar appreciation for the variety of humanity knowing that each individual is shaped by their predisposed genetics and the environments they've been exposed to. Additionally, it helps to take away some of the prejudice we hold based on what society has deemed "bad" and value each person as an equally valid human being.
I relate to that so much, every little detail just makes the person look more like the actual person, they're so important. I love wrinkles, especially around the eyes or nose, it just shows that the person smiled a lot, and that thought makes me happy❤️
Yes, this is such a good comment. I feel the same way, since learning to draw I now find that faces are so much more beautiful and the best things about peoples faces are the expressions more so than facial features. You can be incredibly perfect looking but it can cancel out a lot of the interest of the face, and attractiveness is really nothing to be with being perfect it’s often more the ‘imperfect’ that we like the most.
I love the girl who doesn’t move her face. I love the fact that she thinks if you don’t sleep in your back your facial bone structure can change. She thinks your bones. Can change shape. She thinks your your skull, as a full grown adult, can and will change shape. I love it almost as much as I love that she believes gravity ceases to exist when you’re laying down. What a gem.
Your bones will change shape though, but not because of sleeping position. Part of the reason skin sags with age is because we resorb orbital and jaw bones over time. Eating well and taking care of your dental health can help. People of color lose less bone with age because they have higher bone density.
I feel like the stress and anxiety that they provoke from telling you to have a 2483832 step skincare, sleeping in certain ways, not going out, not laughing or having emotions is worse than aging
not to sound corny but my dad died very young. I may get frustrated with wrinkles one day but aging is a privilege he was never afforded. This culure of antiaging can be toxic and I'm so happy you're speaking about it❤
Many of my partner's family members died before reaching the age of 40, and as a result its hard for them to picture reaching the age of 40. I've had to assure them that we are capable of reaching higher ages and that we will live longer
I cried a lot in my 30's, so I value my wrinkles, because every time I see them they remind me of how far I've come. I've earned every single wrinkle and no one can take that from me. Also, grey hair is punk. At this point, considering the messages we're constantly bombarded with, aging openly feels like an act of rebellion. 🤘
imagine being so desperate not to look like a wise old witch who knows everything about everyone and can cure anything with a cup of tea. couldn't be me. i wanna age like one of those really cool trees
It’s crazy to me that anyone would want to prevent wrinkles. Mainly cause my mom has always loved watching the signs of aging because her own mother died young. She treasures these things because they mean she is another year closer to one day being a grandmother, something her own mom could never do. I hope to be like her when I’m older
That is beautiful! I see something similar with my aunt about her gray hair. I just love seeing it fully gray for some reason! And when I told her that she smiled the widest I had ever seen her smile...
I got my first grey hair last year at 27 and I was psyched. I love my wrinkles and scars and spots. Love being a human and showing my years on my body.
as someone who’s suffered with depression and suicidal tendencies me getting older is a massive achievement i didn’t think i would get past age 15 seeing myself grow and change is so important for me
As someone with chronic health conditions and terrible anxiety, I would feel grateful to make it to old age and have grey hair/wrinkles. It's like saying you made it this far and should be proud of it.
you know, only well off hw!te people live past the age of 30 in any measurable amount the past few hundred years or so because our lives were sacrificed to make sure they could have all the toys and addictions
I would be grateful too! To be honest, I think wrinkles (and stretch marks and stuff) are beautiful, and I’m not just saying that to be nice, either! I genuinely feel that way. I like how natural it is, because to me, it doesn’t force this idea that everything about your body needs to be strictly by some “rule book of beauty.” It’s perfectly human, and I’d be so proud of it!
Not having wrinkles even when you're 80+ years old is really not a good thing. My grandma who's used ridiculously expensive creams for her wrinkles barely has any at the age she is now, and it looks kinda freaky considering her hair is all white and she hobbles around. My great uncle's words: it looks like someone is stretching her face back. Not having wrinkles starts looking unnatural at some point.
@@kwarra-an my grandma struggled with Parkinson’s and colon cancer. Towards the end of her life, she couldn’t keep her eyes open or swallow. Im so sorry you have to watch your grandpa struggle. It’s not easy. Parkinson’s is so evil.
Wrinkles are simply the fact that your skin is attached to your scull along certain lines plus your connective tissue becoming less flexible over time.
Actually when you lie on your back, the gravity will pull your skin to the sides of your face, creating wrinkles. You might think you'd want to cancel out the aging of gravity during the day by laying upside down, but this will actually create more elasticity. To ensure you get even pulling from all directions, you should be sleeping across a long pole like a roast turkey as it rotates throughout the night. If you don't have budget concerns, I'd suggest getting a large gyroscope.
bruh as an art and animation person, wrinkles are an absolute SAVIOUR to me because they add so much personality and expression. people like this strike fear into my heart and make me feel like there’s a mental geiger counter clicking in my head telling me that i’m about to undergo radioactive decay.
Art and Wrinkle/expression related: for the longest I made smooth, emotionless faces (even when I tried to make emotions) because I thought it was "cute" and it was very trendy as far as anime fanart goes (I was a very avid anime fan). Now that I've learned more about art and matured in my art journey, I can agree... the static, emotionless face trend needs to peacefully die _especially_ if it adds nothing to the art. Same for people! please... just look like you feel anything, at all.
@@cheeseballgod2154 I was never referring to art styles. But if we're bringing that up, most of the time the people with those styles cannot make proper emotional facial expressions unless they add wrinkles, distortion, etc. Sure, you'll be able to tell if someone is sad, mad, happy, but it's not going to be on the same level if you don't add those "imperfections" and that's why those simple styles will always just be simple. Pretty, cute, cool, sure! but simple.
I have a mother who has lived her life with this fear of aging glooming over her, not only did it make her a destructive parent, it made her skin and body exhausted from the newest fad product/diet, her bitter about the natural phases her face and body went through in life and comparing herself to others constantly. She is now 60 and it makes her unbearable to be around because she can not accept her body is doing exactly what it is supposed to...AGE. The point is to feel good and happy then the stress of this all won't affect your skin and you will sleep well and have the energy to exercise to your capability. My mother is about to spend $18,000 on Liposuction and Botox when she has only enough retirement for 5 years. This is keeping her in a stressful job she hates so she can "look younger". You see how this is counterproductive? These seemingly young women are planting a seed that can grow into a tree overtime in your mind so don't even let them plant it. As long as you look like you, which you always will, you are beautiful. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
I really hope that over time your mother finds comfort and love in herself and understand that time happens to everyone. No one deserves nor should be under so high levels of stress and self judgment about their looks that it affects every single aspect of their lives.
Im so sorry u and ur mom are going thru this and ur right that nurturing anti-aging logic when ur young can become a big problem as u age but this issue isn't entirely womens responsibility to change; we're kinda forced to care about ageing bc 50% of the population (men) who hold nearly every position of power in the world evaluate women based on their youthfullness. A women's appearance/age seriously effects her position in society and how she's treated and until that changes women are going to continue to place a high value on their looks/youth bc it dictates a lot about our lives.
My mom with bpd hates being reminded that she's aging. On her birthdays she tells people she's turning 25 again (she's in her 60s) and absolutely loves it when someone tells her she looks younger than her age. When I was in my teens she told that she doesn't want to be called "mom" but wants to be called by her name, and treated us (her daughters) like her friends, not kids. I was also emotionally parentified by her. It's exhausting and I've stopped talking to her because she also enables our abusive family members.
this isn’t really comparable but it’s kinda similar how my mom (46) is always dying her gray hairs and my cousins mom (40 something idk) also makes my cousin (17) dye her gray hairs (having gray hair from a young age runs in my family but i don’t have it) and i just find it so stupid because it doesn’t even look bad, some would even say the gray hairs look cool. i hate how aging used to be something to appreciate in society but now it’s looked down upon for some reason
people used to tell me I was the most beautiful old lady back in the day. of course i didnt smile or move my mouth to talk because that wouldve given me wrinkles. weirdly enought everything below my neck still has wrinkles but thats fine nobody looks there. now im on my deathbed and when i saw all my friends and family throughout my whole life care for me in my final moments i finally smiled. my face melted.
you know part of being an artist is learning to appreciate all types of bodies, including wrinkles, and finding the beauty in all of them. it's something i think is a blessing because it helped me accept the way i look. i wish more people realized the beauty in human bodies :(
I'm an artist too and in the past few years my art and my mental health and self image has improved so much when I started trying to include more of the little imperfections that really make us human
As an artist myself I do agree, I believe pores on skin, beauty moles and freckles as well as wrinkles are really REALLY beautiful, they are like bonus features to me lol
I'm an artist too, I personally love adding wrinkles around the eyes, as well as eyebags, etc, because it gives characters a more "natural" look to them, it can also help add alot of emotions! Scars/moles/freckles/birthmarks/heterochromia/vitiligo as well, if all of us looked the same irl we would not be special no? same with making characters! all of these things can make a bland blank canvas have interesting and special characteristic about them ^^
@@MisseryMoth true! And scars can also be used in character designs to help tell their story, it gives them a past and you wonder what happened to them that got them those scars
Lol the thought that you can just stop your skin from losing its natural elasticity on a cellular level just by not moving and not eating certain foods is absolutely bonkers. Love it.
Just in case anyone here is worried about their own skin: No one notices what you notice. No one notices your wrinkles, or your pores, or your blackheads. I sincerely promise. When you look into the mirror, you see all the tiny flaws of yourself that you don't like. When others see you, they see you as a total and complete person. They're not picking you apart like you do to yourself-- they notice your features, not your flaws!
I mean, I notice. But I sure as hell ain't gonna go pointing it out because it isn't any of my business and if someone is happy with the way they look, then great. I'm not going to try to ruin it for them. And I don't think any less of them for having an "imperfect" face. That's just their face. I judge people by who they are, not what they look like.

Absolutly dystopian!
That’s literally my mom 😭
Yes, it does sound miserable and then when they get to 40 or 50 years old and I have wrinkles anyway, they’re gonna be a little bit disappointed. Wrinkles don’t come from stretching out skin, wrinkles come from your facial muscles relaxing over time.
"Oh honey, of course I was happy about your proposal? but I can not smile or laugh for happyness I get wrinkels"
It is tragic. Nothing in life is more meaningful to me than expressing and sharing true emotion. My face is the medium by which I sculpt my thoughts and feelings. To inhibit that expression is akin to self-castration.
The “apply sunscreen to protect your face” to “never smile ans train your face muscles to not move” pipeline is scary

I understand sunscreen if you live somewhere sunny but.. stupid wrinkles? You know, what you get after living.
Lol, next is "I don't want wrinkles, so I've trained myself not feel emotion and become a sociopath."
I wear sunscreen because I’m super pale and don’t want skin cancer. I wear sunscreen to live longer, not smoother.
Oh I absolutly agree with wearing sunscreen to protect yourself from skincancer. But it really spirals downwards after that. Next Thing is wearing sunscreen keeps you looking young and than suddenly it’s all about not getting wrinkles at all

Gonna start a pro aging routine where I just smile really hard for an hour every day
Anti-aging routine - buy products $$$$, no pillow at night, no straws (alternatively, carry anti-wrinkle straw in your purse just in case), limit smiling, always hold phone at face level, wear gloves and face shield in car (if you must go out)
Pro-aging routine - watch a funny movie/video every day, have some belly laughs, smile at strangers, enjoy a day at the beach, sleep peacefully

Oh my god this hit me so hard, so so true.
you're probably right; but it was also marketed as an anti wrinkle straw because many ability aids have to be also sold to the general public to make any kind of proffit since the ability aid market is usually handled at a much lower profit margin (and even getting into mass production is hard without some kind of proffits to feed back into the machine) It does look like its designed for someone with real issues though, no one is going to go through the engineering designed to get a straw with one closed end to function properly without either having a guaranteed profit involved, or genuinely wanting to solve a real problem.
I guess you don’t have to worry about losing mental function when you are a Girl like them.
When becoming older and getting wrinkles is your biggest worry in life I truly think that there is not very much mental function to begin with.
So why worry about losing it? 😂

This is the classic "i would definitely rather be ugly on the outside than ugly on the inside".

I just turned 30 and I work at a university, primarily with freshmen, and last week when I mentioned my birthday they were all shocked at my age and saying I looked “sooooo young”. And I think that’s part of the problem is that society teaches us that 30 is old.

So its just like comparing one age to another I think anyway I don't know how to end this comment and hwhwhsjdjdj
So true! I am 34 and when I meet 20 something at a party and talk to them, they are like 'What? But you look sooooo young'. Guys....I am still young🤣.

But of course tiktok girlies co-opted it 🙄
Thats actually interesting, what disability are they originally for?
Every single thing meant to assist disabilities gets taken over by those who don't need it and either becomes incredibly expensive, goes out of stock, or ends up banned in places like school and its absolutely infuriating. These aids are not toys.
Source? I googled straws for disabilities and nothing that resembled the one from tiktok came up. Then i googled anti aging straw and dozens of them came up..

@@jon2922wdym are there special wax producing uk chickens

She’s so annoying
It's honestly sad to see that girl who's become so obsessive about aging that she's not allowing herself to just live life
I did work in an organic store for five years, and I was responsible of the cosmetics part.
I love wrinkles, especially around the eyes or nose, it just shows that the person smiled a lot, and that thought makes me happy❤️
hii im an artist too and this is so true. i always felt this way but couldn't put it in words.
Same!!! All these "imprefections" are my favourite things to draw

No one deserves nor should be under so high levels of stress and self judgment about their looks that it affects every single aspect of their lives.
i’m sorry but that just reminded me of Requiem for a Dream
@@alenwake3445 right it adds like a bit of texture and interest besides being really beautiful :)
Love it.
Well, fish, especially fish skin does a great job for maintaining skin elasticity
@@audreydoyle5268 that's exactly why I drink a gallon of liquid latex every day
Yet her face looks like she injected cement underneath😂
@@leech8561 you are supposed to drink it?! I've been injecting in directly to the veins!
@@eduardaarrais that actually makes the process faster, but i prefer bathing in it to truly bask in it's excellence
Just in case anyone here is worried about their own skin:
No one notices what you notice.
Thank you
Yep! And if they are the type to notice & point it out, they aren't worth your time 💖🙂
I mean, I notice.
Say that to that lil AH that said I'm ugly because I have acne. She was 8. Hate that girl, don't visit her house anymore, even if her mother was cool
