Shot entirely on GoPro HERO9 & the original HD HERO! I wanted to see what filming with the HD HERO was like 12 years after it originally came out, so I decided to challenge Zadia (who has never filmed or edited a video) to an edit competition! HERO9 vs. HD HERO - Beginner vs. Professional! We walk through our process of filming, choosing music, and our final thoughts before presenting our edits!

Abe could shoot on a potato and turn it into a cinematic masterpiece. Surprisingly not surprised at how epic BOTH videos turned out!

I can’t believe Abe’s vid was shot with a hero one. Blows my mind, I now see just how much power there is in the skill of post editing. Dude, I have so much mad respect for you Abe. This inspires me to do better with my hero 9. Zadia that was a dope vid and incredible quality being your 1st edit. Having said that, Abe won.
not only post, but capturing and the angles and perspective the "lens" is in.
The quality of Abe's Hero HD video looks better than my hero 7 videos before UA-cam compression, hooow🤯
You can always faux upscale your videos to trick UA-cam into using a higher bit rate. Works great.
Export at 60fps for higher bitrate
My humble conclusion: technic is not the issue but making an interesting story! You both did that great.

Resolution was honestly the main difference between the two for me, but absolutely shocked at how well the original footage looked. Well done to both of you, they were both amazing!

Those were both amazing edits. Zadia's edit was spectacular for a first time, outstanding edit and filming. I approach music selection on Musicbed the same way, have an idea and just start listening to see what sparks inspiration. Abe, the quality out of the HD Hero was impressive. Most of the shots were quite impressive and you really made the weaknesses into visual strengths.
I especially love the backlight-overexposed part that make the person looks like an angel. Most epic scene in my opinion. 14:04
Honestly I gotta say while the hero 1 doesn’t have the best quality on the market today you can still get some amazing landscape shots like no other especially with that vintage look it’s absolutely stellar
Super cool to see the different perspectives! Amazing to see what your creativity can do with the older GoPro but at the same time how the newer Tech can help the newbie 💪🏼

Transition at 14:06 wassssss dooooopppe. Angles are such a nice way to add variety and excitement to the video !!!!! Both did awesome. I mean I’d like to be able to have the skill to make not so good footage great but at the same time I wouldn’t wanna have to do it all the time. Lol

She won. :-) and I am surprised you were able to get such good quality, views and smooth video out of the HD Hero. I think I preferred her video as the clips ran longer between transitions. Sometimes quick transitions in an action videos can be visually jarring as there is already so much for your eyes to track.

Not to ride the fence, but both impressive videos for different reasons. Zadia’s shows what a novice can do with a little direction; great video for first time effort. Abe’s experience came through with the in-camera transitions and rapid tempo going from clip to clip. It really shows short, quick shots are more exciting. Both captured the spirit of your trip.

Great videos as always. It is the person behind the camera that counts most, not the gear. You have the storytelling eye and knows every tips and tricks refarding video editing. But it’s easier to get good footage with better gear. Keep up the good work, both of you.

Zadia wins on music choice...but one does not lose a video competition to a rookie when you have that experience. The “artsy fartsy” shows ha. That being said Zadia’s edit still blows any of mine out of the water. Great video guys!
