I think the only reason I catch them is because of the tea :-) Really I just hacked together the video in case anyone is thinking of coming to fish the Creed this coming season as it gives some idea of what the river and lochs look like.
Hi I visited Stornoway for a short break with my wife, having previously viewed your videos I decided to take my fly rod and sought some advice and guidance from the SAA. Quick and useful replies from Cameron and latterly Ken helped with fly selection, directions and fishing tips. Only had a few hours so fished a few pools on the Creed before trying the Loch. No fish to the rod, but a great experience\of Hebridean Salmon fishing. Would hope to come again.
@@VOLDAC-ch5dj great to hear you enjoyed it. There is so much fishing on Lewis that my advice is to come for as long a period as you can and don't neglect the trout either!
When i first come across your vids about two yrs ago i contacted the Association they got right back to me about the rivers with alot of good info it was well appreciated. We were planning on coming over to Scotland and up to the islands to see Barra were we think we come from no proof cause all the records and family info was lost in time so i figured i taste some whisky and do a little fishin.Anyway i really like the look of the Creed so if i ever do get over i'll drop ya a line and get out for some fishin..
Hi Billy, sorry about that but I thought I'd replied to your message and then I found it in my "held for review" folder just a few hours back. YT automatically puts some stuff in there and your message quite clearly looks nothing like spam! However if you are up the Creed I will try to convert you to decent tea :-) MacNeill would be a Uist or Barra name so you are more than likely correct. The Stornoway AA are really helpful and they really like to have visitors so no one will be keeping secrets or trying to put you onto water that's never held a fish. I tend to fish what is known as "Beat 2" which is the river above the main road but the lower part of the river is down in the Castle Grounds and it is more forested and, sometimes, a little more busy with anglers. However the pools down there are very productive and well worth fishing, I just happen to like being out on the moor.
Get the rods packed :-) I like it in late season just out of personal preference but many people say May and June are best for trout and, providing the weather cooperates, July for salmon.
Lovely. Do you ever fish the likes of the Creed for trout? Looks a lovely sized water for an evening rise, must be pretty epic when they're on the heather fly?!
The trout in rivers tend to be of pretty poor quality and I don't know of anyone who fishes the Creed for trout. I guess part of the reason no one is interested in fishing the river is that we have about 1000 lochs and pretty much all of them hold trout with some of them having really excellent trout fishing so there is no reason to go to the river for trout.
It's great to see you've hit the 2000 subscriber's Phillip! Even better to see the fish you've hooked, just in case there are those non-believers that think you go out to drink tea rather than catch fish..... Ha! Oh, I wish I could come fish your waters, drink tea and eat a big bun !
Mostly I do just go out and sit about drinking tea but occasionally I have a cast and sometimes have the good fortune to find a stupid fish that takes my fly. I've no idea how I ended up with 2000 subscribers as it was never my intention to have any subscribers but if people enjoy it then that is great.
The music is "Heite and Farquars." It was being played by some friends so I recorded some of it (just on the mobile phone) and it gets used if I make one of these compilation videos.
Great stuff👍the one that leapt out must have smelled the Tea😂👍
