Surely there's a banana plantation nearby? The wild Hebridean banana might be smaller and less sweet than its tropical counterpart, but they have saved the day for many a rambler.

Peatlands are not ideally suited to the forager but the plentiful supply of bananas has always been a godsend to the crofting communities especially during the summer months when the normal supply of croissants and and chorizo toasties have dried up.

Thanks mate ….really enjoyed it …I enjoy fishing along with you …it’s winter and the closed season here …so getting my fly fishing fix is a challenge …..and of course the amusing shaking my head about the safety overkill signage placed by the will of risk adverse bureaucracy gone mad 😂

It is part of the UK care in the community system in the sense that the people who plan those signs are given totally pointless work to keep them out of the way of normal people who are going about their business. If they didn't have to plan those signs these people could be walking about on the streets without supervision.

Interesting... one would think there might be a snorkel hanging on the sign!

Some nice wee fish there. Have to disagree about the sign. If I were fishing there and not catching I'd be in head first to see what the hell was going on if nanny had not put that sign up. 😁😁

I'm so tempted to put a sign beside it saying "Caution! Don't bang your head on the sign." I appreciate it is all part of paper pushing and risk assessments and so on and I would also understand if the sign did something useful but the truth is that the process of putting the sign up was probably more of a risk than that experienced by the very few who will go out there and see it.

Hi William, I'm sort of winding down on the videos in part because my GoPro gear is starting to become a little unreliable with age, water, bashing about etc. I did order an Insta360 Ace Pro but the video quality out of it was awful, much worse than my GoPros, so it got returned. Lots of good reviews of it on UA-cam but when I tried it myself it was a completely different story. The problem is GoPro don't have a waterproof solution for attaching an external microphone and I don't want to invest in a camera that, as with my current GoPro, pretty much doesn't work on a wet day. So, at least in part, the fact that I've got unreliable gear and nothing suitable with which to replace it is driving me towards stopping with the videos. I did a few videos in the Spring, then was busy and had a really nasty dose of covid, and since that I've not been fishing. I hope to get some fishing in September/October as I like the back end fishing and there might be some videos of that but it all depends on the gear keeping working and that could go either way 🙂
