There are no throwaways or fillers on "Bridge Of Sighs" Each and every cut is a winner and you REALLY NEED to check out the entire album. You won't be disappointed.
JMBOY, the openness of you ears, your mind and your heart make watching you react one of the absolute highlights of my day. You listen, ACTUALLY LISTEN, without interrupting or pausing like most of the other reactors do. They're not hearing it right. Songs we listened to growing up didn't keep stopping and starting. You're the best, man. DO NOT CHANGE A THING ABOUT YOU!!!! EVER!!!!!!
my all-time favorite Robin Trower song! The Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri) is actually one of the most famous walking bridges in Venice Italy!! Told you man, the whole album is amazing!!! 🙂However, Robin is not the singer, the bass player is!!
This was one of many songs from this era, were you would find me down in the basement laying on my back with all the lights turn off with the old cabinet style kenwood speakers hooked up to a aiwa and a pioneer playing the LP😊
I saw Robin Trower in 1976 at GVSU ( Grand Valley State University ) and this was a great show. He was like a white " Hendrix " and James Dewar's vocals always seemed to be overlooked. The entire album was great stuff.
The bridge oh sighs .."The view from the Bridge of Sighs was the last view of Venice that convicts saw before their imprisonment. The bridge's English name was bestowed by Lord Byron in the 19th century as a translation from the Italian "Ponte dei sospiri", from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of beautiful Venice through the window before being taken down to their cells" Once you were put in the cell, the metal door was welded shut until after you died. The 28 seconds it took to cross was called by inmates 'the longest hour of their life'. That's why the song sounds like time is dragged out. When you know this, the song will sound different.
See, we would NEVER steer you wrong!!! In a previous Robin Trower (Too Rolling Stoned) I told you my story of hearing Robin Trower for the first time: My first day at college (Sept 75) a long hair I'd never met pulls up in his van (completely carpeted inside) says "Hop In". Puts Bridge of Signs into the tape player and we smoke numerous blunts for at least 2 hours driving around picking up more long hairs along the way. Great way to start the college life!!!
I find it amazing what you said about Echoes. I'm 60 years old and have been to 5 Pink Floyd concerts. When I heard Echoes for the first time, I was 8 or 9. Meddle was played on a college radio station and it changed my entire perception of what music was with this amazing creativity. I don't think Robin Trower brings me to a place like Pink Floyd, but he does grab you and make you drift into his music. I always loved this album.
Awesome album, you should do the entire thing! 70s Trower is beyond belief with a string of great albums and legendary songs. Bridge of Sighs live often drifted past 10 minutes, he squeezed every drop of emotion out of his Fender Stratocaster. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
First three albums - Twice Removed From Yesterday, Bridge Of Sighs and For Earth Below are GREAT albums and highlight a power trio second to none. Trower is IMO the greatest guitarist on the planet and is still playing to this day, after Jimi of course. Only one Jimi as there is only one Robin. Enjoy. Oh, the bass player and vocalist was James ''Jimmy'' Dewar. Again IMO one of the greatest rock vocalists EVER. Could sing everything, every style with a voice gifted by God. RIP Jimmy.
This is my 1st time viewing your reaction to Robin Trower! Plus, YOU were the first person that I’ve seen that listened to BOTH of these tracks back to back without interruption. Your comments were very thoughtful plus you’ve helped to keep Robin Trower’s music alive for future generations to come.
Great reaction to the Robin Trower Band. This album was one of the best in 1973.Not a bad song on it.Too Rolling Stoned and Fool In Me are two more from this that you will like.I saw this tour in 1974 in St.Louis and it was great. Thanks for this one.
Yo JMBOY! Georgia boomer here, who thinks you are the most respectful maker of music reaction vids on You Tube because u don’t interrupt the music. Well done! Keep going … ❤
'Bridge Of Sighs'! What a great guitar riff. I've played at the parties I used to go to back in the 80s. It always went over well, but I figured it would considering the crowd I hung out with, if you know what I mean. The moan made by that guitar - superb. When you get the tone right and your fingers are warmed up, very satisfying to play. Some have compared Robin to Jimi. I wouldn't want to spend time on that topic, but I do feel that Robin was at least as experimental trying to get new sounds into his universe. Besides, I've seen both play. With Robin, I study what he does. I can follow it. With Jimi, it's always WTF!? That guy was in a different dimension. Good reaction! Listen to the whole thing. It's all good. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.
The vibe, the lyrics, and vocals make you feel that last taste of the outside world those convicts experienced as they dragged their chains across that Bridge of Sighs... 😔🙏
Bridge of Sighs is the song you play on Halloween...Rumor has it that this song is about the Gallows in past England...Such a heavy,,slow, bluesy song that I have heard a hundred times and still love it.Your facial expressions already tell me you love it.. The drummer is Reg Isodore and very talented.
**** I have always respected Robin Trower as a guitarist. The Bridge of Sighs album takes him to much deeper levels of emotion. It is obvious that he was going through a time of introspection and sorrow when he wrote these songs. You can feel the yearning in his soul, especially with "In This Place". James Dewar has the perfect vocal to express the sadness and emptiness, that Robin was feeling. It is impossible to not be emotionally moved by In This Place.
One of my all time favorites! At the time, they were a group named Robin Trower. Robin on guitar, James Dewar on bass and vocals and Reg Isidore on drums. Robin said he was reading the horse racing section of the newspaper when he spotted a horse named Bridge Of Sighs, and thought that would be a great song title.
Top notch album I saw the original group when this album came out one of the best rock concerts ever Robin was about 12 to 15 feet up on top of the speakers with a fog machine filling up the venue with fans blowing the fog well he was playing it was unfrkn real
I think you got out of this song most everything Robin put into it. Another very insightful and deep analysis of this very deep song. No surprises, that's what you do to every song.
The bridge of sighs is one of the worlds worst incarceration. They live their lives in the darkness and walking across the long bridge on their way to the prison they are aware this is the last time they will see the outdoors and it must have been a gut wrenching march. Thank you for this reaction. This entire album is incredible.
I grew up on this in a time with no internet, no cell fines. Band information came from music magazines Circus magazine. Never knew the bass player sang and was a black dude. Way Kool.
Proper respect will always be given to Jimi Hendrix, but let's sing the Praises of Robin Trower. Why? Because, the man is a Survivor, he has always grown as a player, and he still delivers!
New to the channel. Appreciate your dive into each song. How you liking your trip into the Rock And Roll rabbit hole? R&R is a genre of genres. So much variety. Good music is good music. And musicians are a gift to humanity.
👍 70s psychedelic heavy rock? Try this one... Warning on sleeve(box lol): "THIS ALBUM TO BE PLAYED AT FULL VOLUME FOR MAXIMUM EFFECT" Hot Tuna- Serpent of Dreams ua-cam.com/video/SPLNGnBgRs0/v-deo.html
Awesome! Hot Tuna was dope in the mid 70s , hard rock classics like this one. He should also hear Hit Single #1 off that album as well. I saw them 3 times in that era, always jamming out, doing 3 to 4 hour sets, for $5.00 a show. Those were the days...
The raw and unedited versions are good too. I hope the best versions don't replace the originals. Hard to know and hard to respect when you don't know the originals.
Such an amazing song and reaction! Thank you! Have you ever reacted to Immogen Heap and her song "Hide and Seek "? I think you'd really find that one interesting and different, but still so beautiful.
This cat is still out there making music, recently releasing a new album and touring this year. If you get the chance, go see a legend doing legendary shit .
Brilliant is right, saw him a dozen times from 1974 - 1999, including twice in the front, within feet of him blasting out Bridge of Sighs. It was like being struck with musical lightning, we were all stunned up front.
James Dewar - what a voice.
Very underrated talent. R.I.P. Mr. Dewar
Much respect! He is missed. James Dewar was evey bit as important to their music as Robin’s awesome guitar playing.
There are no throwaways or fillers on "Bridge Of Sighs" Each and every cut is a winner and you REALLY NEED to check out the entire album. You won't be disappointed.
Absolutely, no doubt.
I agree! Lady Love is one of my favorites.
Twice removed from yesterday is like this too,has to be listened in it's entirety to be really really appreciated 👍
James Dewars voice is sublime!
JMBOY, the openness of you ears, your mind and your heart make watching you react one of the absolute highlights of my day. I've been saying that since Jan 2023. JM is the best at what he is doing.
@AliasMark69 I've looked around and only one other 'reaction' team listens the whole way through... Alex and Andy....
Absolutely right on
I'm 64 years old and have been in possession of this album since probably 1976 or near there.
I’m 70 and still have my original copy bought in 1974. It’s one of those rare classics with no filler
@@williams.4913 a lifetime favorite
Me too.
@@williams.491368 years old. Have the original album, too! ❤
Don’t have any Trower on vinyl but saw them twice back in the day. I’m 65 and I’ve been a huge Trower fan since I was a teenager.
When we lost James Dewar we were robbed of one of the greatest voices in musical history.
And bass players
Always loved Bridge of Sighs..... Great song choice.
Great album nice concert.
Classic Robin Trower, incredible guitarist.
You won't hear finer blues rock than this its so great
my all-time favorite Robin Trower song! The Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri) is actually one of the most famous walking bridges in Venice Italy!! Told you man, the whole album is amazing!!! 🙂However, Robin is not the singer, the bass player is!!
Called Sighs because prisoners crossed it to go into an awful place and "sighed" as they took one last look at the beautiful city and their freedom.
absolutely right!! 🙂@@karen580
Or going the other way to their execution in the courtyard of the Doge's Palace...
@@karen580I heard that they were crossing the bridge going to their execution.
Ok thanks got the info from a Rick Steve's video long ago. 😊

The gods weren't angry at Robin thrower.
Back in the day when you didn't have to be a speed demon shredder to prove your talent

same LP lady love, you will love it.
Music is a great time machine. I've gone back 50 years listening to your show.

🎵🎸🎤🎶
Some of the heaviest guitar in history.
@nelsonx5326. I always thought Iommi could've come up with that riff.
One of James Dewars best vocals RIP Robin doing his thing. This album got me through my teens.
I played this on repeat back when I was a stoner. It was his best album. Nothing else he did matched it. Brings back some fuzzy memories.
Saw Robin play this in 1974 Erie, Pa. Went to the after concert party, had a few beers and smoked a joint with Robin. We laughed heartily, lol.
Simply put: BADASS music...the likes of which you shan't see again... Great tunes, great reaction, man! Thank you!
When my brother introduced me to this so very long ago, he told me it would make my head roll off my shoulders and across the floor.
The bridge was the entrance to a prison and for most that meant certain death. That's what this song is about.
First three albums - Twice Removed From Yesterday, Bridge Of Sighs and For Earth Below are GREAT albums and highlight a power trio second to none. The way the tension builds during In This Place and then gets a controlled release at the end is amazing. I'm happy you enjoyed this one.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TOO THE REQUESTER FOR ASKING JMBOY TO DO THEM TOGETHER! ❤🎶 THANKS FOR THE REACTION. I LOVE THIS WHOLE ALBUM!!!

The Ponte dei Sospiri was the bridge the condemned walked leading from the palace to the building where torture and execution awaited them.
I always love the sound of wind blowing.

The bridge of sighs is a covered bridge in Venice, connecting a prison to the execution building.

Check out the live video. Awesome
The vibe, the lyrics, and vocals make you feel that last taste of the outside world those convicts experienced as they dragged their chains across that Bridge of Sighs... 😔🙏
First review to include both as meant to be heard! Got a thumbs up for that. Glad you youngsters can appreciate the oldsters.😮
Thanks for that! It's encouraged me to dig out the album later for a listen. I forgot what a great album this is.
Yes, Bridge of Sighs is real in Venice, but Ive read that Robin saw a racehorse in the paper named Bridge of Sighs.
Bridge of Sighs is the song you play on Halloween...Rumor has it that this song is about the Gallows in past England...Such a heavy,,slow, bluesy song that I have heard a hundred times and still love it.Your facial expressions already tell me you love it.. The master of the Fender Stratocaster with Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower!!!!
…let’s not forget Jeff Beck, RIP.
First record album I ever bought with hundreds to follow was ROBIN TROWER LIVE. Wore that puppy out!
I bought this album in 1974.
…me too, and it still holds up beautifully.🥰
I noticed you been digging this album. Good taste 🙂
Bridge of Sighs was a real place . Check it out
**** I have always respected Robin Trower as a guitarist. The Bridge of Sighs album takes him to much deeper levels of emotion. I saw Robin Trower in a little venue in San Diego in the early 80s on a weeknight. Your reaction extreme Deja Vous for me amazing Keep it up bro
Nothing like Live Trower, he needs to hear him live!
Saw him on a triple bill at Berkeley Community Theater along with the Dead and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Loudest concert I have ever been to.
This is what we called " heavy music" JM... nice. 😎
Bridge of Sighs is one of the most underrated albums of all time. Love the outro to In This Place with 3-4 separate little guitar things going on.
This is on another level of Trower playing in Procol Harum
One of my all time favorites! At the time, they were a group named Robin Trower. Robin on guitar, James Dewar on bass and vocals and Reg Isidore on drums. listen to this in a dark room with nothing but the stereo lights and a bic.
Not to take anything away from the Master himself and I have ALWAYS loved this song (and album) but, Ann Wilson does a respectable version of this
He started out with Procol Harum
I saw these guys in about 1975, J Giles band opened for then. imagne hearing this after J Giles "My Baby is A centerfold"
bought this album at a garage sale for 10 cents in the late 70s.....been a player since...
I grew up on this in a time with no internet, no cell fines. Band information came from music magazines Circus magazine. Never knew the bass player sang and was a black dude. Way Kool.
The bassist/vocalist - the late Jim Dewar - was a white Scottish guy; it was the drummer - the late Reg Isidore - who was black.
I used this to go to sleep when I drove truck over the road
Proper respect will always be given to Jimi Hendrix, but let's sing the Praises of Robin Trower. Why? Because, the man is a Survivor, he has always grown as a player, and he still delivers!

My brother a piece of trivia the Bridge of Sighs is the exit from the Tower of London Prison chilling eh?
You need to watch Tower play live
💜💗💜🥰
Smoked a lot of pot listening to this!
Jimi vibe.
And that album is trowers masterpiece the worst track is fantastic
Hendrix 2.0. Check out Jimi's, "Electric Ladyland". But first, grab your headphones. Rated herb friendly.
