Where would this song ever be without Paul's guitar style and creatively composed little parts, it's like a second vocal line it's so pretty, he really made the bands' sound work so well in the early days. Great band.
Just me speaking, but the guitar was the first "line" that I was following. Even if the vocals did hold their weight as a smart melodic counterpoint, it was really the guitar (and to a lesser extent the synths) that WERE the sound of AFOS's songs. In 2003, he rejoined the group for an episode of VH1's Bands Reunited. Paul Reynolds proving that you don't have to be overly complicated or play a million different chords to be a really, really, really good guitar player. Certainly one of the best guitarists to come out of the early MTV era, and that statement might be selling him short.

For real man, you were lucky
Saw them at the US festival in 83.
The Flock of Seagulls, The Fixx and The Police at Comisky Park Summer of 1983 in Chicago!
@Lori LeSage I graduated college. 🎓
I love driving down the highway with this blasting at full volume with the windows down. Always get lots of positive reinforcement, thumbs up and waves, smiles.
Get a AFOS wig also, might even try it myself.
I love the 80*s ,,,,who:s with me ,,, killer song...
La basura de ahora nunca se comparará con la música de los 80 increible
The first time I heard this I was living in Suva, Fiji. It came on the car radio and I was nearly catapulted out of my seat. I loved it from the first few notes and sat mesmerized, listening. I still love it today.
Living in Fiji ? Wow.
Muuuito massa!
👍🍀And your name 💚🙏
the 80's music still stands up today!
Unreal performance - Still sounds like the future! 😀 2:17 - 2:22 Looks like a good time 🕺🏼💃🏼
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES!!!! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!
I heard this song on the radio when I came to United States from eastern Europe in 1983 at the age of 14. I remember thinking to my myself: "what I cool song! What a cool country!" Hahaha. I still feel that way!!!!
I don't know if everyone realizes how awesome Paul's guitar playing was, and was single handedly the difference maker in the Seagulls sound. I'm not even sure he knows how revelutionary he was at the time, I think everyone assumed it was synthesizers that was the difference,..... Really amazing and under rated
Yes,fantastic sound and very unique.
Not a freaking cell phone in sight. Beautiful !! You go back next day to give your friends the play by play.
Love the intensely complicated keyboard playing. It has mesmerized me for years
This is one of the best songs ever, ... does not get old with the times.
When music was music... and musicians were really musicians.... 80s legends...
Big Country played such a big part of my life as a 16 year old in 1984!
This takes me back to 1982 driving from Pennsylvania to Maryland to go to the club Deerpark Lodge, in my 1971 Karman Ghia convertible, down the highway with this tape in the cassette player and this song blasting as loud as possible...ahh, good times...
Paul Reynolds can really play the lead well.. His riffs made the band..
Paul's rocking that Kramer!
F**k I miss the 80's!
Paul Reynolds must be from planet Krypton, his MAD guitar skills is out of this world; he can deliver a pure energy with his guitar...
Paul Reynolds rules. js Sick guitar player and a great scene guy
I was born in 1964 and grew up rockin and rolling until I heard my first Devo song and it was then that I was reborn into New Wave. I will forever love both genres and the music that came from them. Thanks for making my life great!!!
The music is like a bolt of lighting to the brain such POWER !!!!
Great song of the 80s and never gets old!
Arguably the coolest music ever created and recorded. Lucky kids in the audience. Lucky to have this video to one day inspire similar music and creativity.
I would say, that's a signature song for New Wave. Brilliant!
That guitar is pretty awesome, no doubt. But let's give a little love to that bass line. Pretty solid groove going on there -- makes the spare guitar possible.
That hair is FABULOUS!
Paul Reynolds was such an underrated guitar player
Completely agree, and he is probably like 20 years old here.
@@russellfellows7632 17 year old
Yeah he was if not the best lead guitarist of the 80s 👌
Used an English penny instead of a plectrum.

Better than Eddie Van Halen?
Damn what I would give to see them in concert back in their day.
Really? That's your post? They sucked in the 80's and this was their only hit...but you claimed you would basically give up your soul... hmmm another idiot....
We had tickets to see them in Michigan, but they canceled and I never got to see them. Must have been when Paul fell ill.
@@bonscottrocks1728 Tit
Saw them at the Mann Music Center in Philly back in the early 80's. The Fixx opened up for them. Great show.
@@bonscottrocks1728 This was NOT their only hit in the 80's. THEY DID NOT SUCK!
The guitar work is so unhinged. The whole track is hot
The 80's were THE BEST time of my LIFE!!!!!
