this. was such a great and informative video. got right to the point didn’t take 30 minutes. but covered EVERY important bit of information in detail. thanks a lot!! answered every question i had.
I live in Colorado went shooting on a clear day had summer rain roll in on us, and yes it did block my emitter to where I had to blow the water out because I couldn’t see through it. I fell right into the crease to create a smudge on the glass.
Thanks for the comment i like to hear real world issues with these. I have gotten rained on while using the 510 i did not have that happen but it was not real heavy rain.
The ROMEO5 objective window is more than capable. Having experience with all these listed options and others like eotechs ,aim points, vortex and even new dots like the lead and steel LP-1. The benefits of large objective windows are negligible at best. I’ve shot rifles with micro dots ( vortex venom, and rmr) you are not at a disadvantage, honestly when you’re target focused the light the gun the better. I’d consider this to be the biggest non factor. Also if the goal is preper behavior I think a fixed prism sight checks way more boxes than red dots. Etched sights don’t die. Plus multiple magnification options, plus durable, plus cheep, plus if you have color blindness(sensitivity) or a stigmatism prisms often solve the star bursting issue. - from a shooters perspective NOT A prep perspective
imo the bigger window makes a difference and the poeple that have micro sights and pick up one of these always mention how much the likle the extra space. Yes if you have some sort of vision handicap you and a red dot bothers you its something to think about. as for prisim sights you really dont need batterys to run them but its better when there on and i loose some field of view with them. The lithium button batterys last for like 15 years so no worries there. I like picking something up with maximum capability right away I think holosun red dots check alot of boxes. You really seem like you know what your talking about I appreciate you commenting on my video. Thanks.
The benefits of a larger objective window would be best explored doing combat simulations like airsoft, not plinking at the range. Paper doesn't hide and shoot back.
Most of the prisim sights can be used without batterys but are more effective when the sight is illuminated. with the solar failsafe and 50 k battery life im good to go i even change the batterys out 1 time per year so i dont run into a dead battery. but prisim sights sure are and option there not bad at all but I had come to the conclusion that the holosun red dots were king for preppers. Thanks for your comment maybe in the furture I will buy this sight and revierw it!
@@citizensurvivalplanright, so replacing a battery or relying on chinese solar panels is better than using a etched reticle? Sorry man, but if you’re prepping you should 100% be using a prism or lvpo optic.
@@citizensurvivalplanthose PA prism dots have autolive which is basically shake awake. I have 2 on pcc's and planning to get 2more for a shotty and and 14.5 build. I have 2 512's too and I like that the battery tray tooless and as long as you keep a spare you'll be good to go so thats less of a need for qd or back up irons.
I just ordered a 510 with all these labor day sales blowing up my email box they got me to spent money, but from my research this was a great choice. I have 2 romeo 5's on home defense weapons and very happy with them. I needed another optic so wanted to try something new so the 510 it is. Thanks for your video input.
@@Vision3CC The 510 has the circle dot with a larger window view for faster target acquisition , much easier on my astigmatism, hardly had to make any adjustments to zero. I still like my Romeo's just can't leave them to bright or I see a starburst.
Was trying to decide between a 510c and a Romeo 5 for my deer gun and ended up going for the Romeo 5. Plan on getting a 510c for my home defense gun, but I just can’t risk having something cover the dot when I’m hiking through the woods during the snow or rain. May look at a 512c at some point in the future
The emitter getting covered up is wayy less of a worry then reviewers make it out to be its pretty rare prob will never happen but the romeo 5 is a good choice for hunting.
@@citizensurvivalplan off course they all yelling about it and never test it. I use 510C in the rain, in the snow, in the dust... never had a problem. 512 looks sick, but it is heavy. on the other hand AEMS looks also great, is really lightweight, but window is a little small.
I currently have a Sig Romeo 5 on my BCM Recce Rifle. Im looking at the Holosun 510c because I like the reticle better and Optics planet has them right now for $278! The thing that is bugging me is that I have always been told don't put a cheap sight on an expensive rifle. I would love to have a Trijicon acog but cant really afford it. I could probably swing an Eotech but the reticle on the 510c actually looks better. The Eotech doesnt bother me its just that the 510 is more crisp/clear. Is the Eotech that much better to justify paying at least twice as much?
Ive shot guns with eotechs the reticle was just fine i just hate the battery life and no shake awake. Holosun are very high quality and will serve you well.
I have the romeo 5 on one of my rifles and that poor little optic has been beat to death. 😅 I don't think there I any finish left on it, but it still works fine
I really like my 510 green. I didn't care for the flimsy QD that came with it so I bought an American defense QD mount. Need something I can be confident in sitting on top of a 1301 tactical shotgun. Worke beautifully.
Do you ever have issues with a green dot on green backround like trees and such? I have seen videos where people talk about it not affecting them but the real world always brings real problems. where I live everything is green in the summer.
The emitter on the 510 is not open. It's got glass over it and wipes or rinses clean easily. So its realistically no different than a standard red dot.

Primary Arms 1x Cyclops. No battery needed and the reticle will always be there.

Yes yes but if somthing was in the channel it does block the emitter. But yeah you could just wipe it away.
