- This is a custom sluice box for a very high powered 8" dredge. The sluice box is 36 inch wide and 16 feet long. It is roughly 10" wider than our standard 8" box. The sluice box is built for ocean dredging up in Nome Alaska.

I would love to show videos or 8" plus dredges running if we could. Back when big dredges where popular no one had video cameras back in the 80" and early 90s. So we never took the time to video we where just dredging 8 hour a day plus. We all take for granted there everyone has a video camera in there pocket. 12" dredges are monsters and could not be used in the usa these days. to build a 12" dredge with a infinity jet or standard jet take big power. Something like 6K GPM at 45PSI . I miss dredging on the Klamath river and Merced and Yuba with a 8" dredge. The Good old days
Even though people aren’t supposed to, definitely a few dredges operating up the north fork trinity and klamath this year. They only operate at night though, I see them packing up if I go early enough in the morning.

I'm impressed of both of you having such patience in communication while doing this video. I saw a few opportunities for arguments that could have gotten out of hand had one of you had a short temper. Nice sluice box! It's a big one.

I think this box will work great in nome,givin the expanded metal is the primary capture material. They run this same setup on the 40 mile river in chicken,in fact GFP's 8 inch is all expanded metal with woven wire covering all of the box. Great work guys.
Expanded metal doesn't catch fine gold! They just use it to hold down the mats and moss! 🤣
@@chrisparker9886 lol evidently you've never seen the pools of gold sitting up against the expanded metal riffles. because that is what it does acts like a mini riffle. It isn't just there to hold the moss down..lol

Do you guys have any footage showcasing your bigger dredge packages like the 8 inch line? Love watching dredge footage especially the bigger dredges. One of the best videos was one that had an older Keene 8 inch with a crashbox on the north fork of the yuba,must have been way back early 2000s or late 90s great gold and underwater footage.
depends on whether all the divers get a full shift in or not as far as cleaning the box out,id say every 18 to 20 hours.

Sorry for all the questions im a fanatic when it comes to equipment,but what about hydraulic riffles in the bottom of the sluice run to mitigate backlogging of material using a secondary pump syatem sort of like your sump system?
Yea, use a lot of different environments.. Who knows where the gold will lodge when it's fine and different shapes etc.
About how much would one of those run with no shipping?

Nice video but you two need to start acting more like brothers instead of competitors with each other that way you can get everybody's heads wrapped around what you're trying to say stop arguing is what I'm saying
We are brothers we all have our moments some great and not so great. Both Patrick and I get along very well 98% of the time but once in while we get in each other nerves. I noticed that in the video also.
