- Shadow drops some words of wisdom for all the DJ/producers. One of my favorite parts of the Scratch Hip-Hop documentary.
On a personal note, I'd like to say that shopping for music online doesn't even compare to the experience of digging through records. Sometimes I don't even buy anything but it just feels good to dig through the bins. It's very relaxing & I'll always love it! ;o) - Розваги
to all the artists who lost their dreams, we appreciate your work and attempts
Vinyl records stacked on top of each other in towers! That makes my sea sick. Oh, the damage they have to be in.
I immediately thought the same thing!
Yeah, that causes warping and ring wear. Not that a DJ digging for samples would care about ring wear, but record collectors who value the condition the complete package is in would.
Records definitely need to be stacked horizontally. Either way, it'd be a blast to spend hours in there.
You release the small time acts from small cities are the things diggers are looking for right? You can find Beatles records everywhere, nobody going through basements of records is looking for them.
@@BeeLeeBeats pfff you dont shit about diggin. diggin is t find new shit..obscurities.. not some cunty beatles shit.
also..all these new cats only think in worth in dollars..instead of worth in music. a lot of these records are still in good shape..you just dont know. Sheep talk, 'oh it is stackd bla bla' fuck outta here
Shadow’s collection is legendary and that spot turned up a lot of his records. Also, records are tougher in general than a lot of people think.
I met Shadow a while back and asked him about that place and its basement full of records. He said last he heard, the store was gone, did not know what happened to the vinyl.
That store used to be "Records" on J street in Sacramento. I saw the record store once before they closed that location. The owners nephew or grandson took over and moved the business across town to a smaller building. It's a shame because the newer version of the store was such a dump. Records were just kind of scattered everywhere. I found out a couple of years later, they finally shut the place down for good. It was definitely a piece of history tho
The Sacramento basement was legendary. We had something special in San Francisco too… North Beach represent 😉
