    Great video. I do counted cross but I have seen a few needlepoint projects I wanted to try. Thank you for the very clear instructions. I learn by seeing it done and yours is so clearly explained.

    Very clear instructions you have given which are easy to follow . I do tapestries as well . I wonder if you could help me . I want to do another tapestry of Wiehler Gobelin. THE SHEPHERDESS. As such , I need Canvas , Counting Pattern and threads .
    I have tried every where on internet but mostly sold are already completed ones . I would be very very grateful if you could suggest from where I can buy this tapestry.
    All the Best Luck in you work . Kind Regards

    Hello from SE Pennsylvania... Ok, this sounds like a dumb question but I've seen plenty of what I was told was needlepoint, say on cushions, chairs and more BUT the stitcher has used an X that is used for Counted Cross Stitch, so two of the Continental Stitches but one will go to the right and the second half of it goes over the first and is to the left creating an X. Why is the X Stitch used like this in Needlepoint? It looks beautiful, of course, but I wondered if there was a reason other than preference or does it make the canvas and the whole piece stronger by stitching this way? I also wonder why the Needlepoint stitches start from the top and go down and works from right to left or even left to right when Counted Cross Stitch is, as far as I know, always worked right to left and working out from the center of the fabric and keeping track of stitches on the chart? I'd also like to know why Needlepoint canvases are either blank, just outlined and seem off course somehow, or the design is fully colored in? Which is better to use? It really would be so much easier if Needlepoint Kits came with the full chart so it is easier to keep track of where you are or where to go next. Some kits do come with a chart nowadays but not many; it's a shame, I think. BTW, also, always make a copy of your chart if you have one, even get it enlarged, so that you can color in your stitches completed, or put a line thru them, whatever, and also make notes so that you can easily pick up where you left off and not make a mess of the original chart in case you want to stitch it again as sometimes, some of us, like me, have had to just wad it all up and toss it and start brand new. If you have to start completely over, remember that you'll need more thread or yarn on hand). I'm very good at Counted Cross Stitch as I've been doing it for 30 years but Needlepoint throws me every time but I refuse to give up. Come to think of it, Counted Cross Stitch drove me crazy at first too but I was so determined. Very curious and a newbie at Needlepoint too, so if anyone knows, please comment.. and thanks. Please forgive the long yarn here or I mean the length...

      So glad you like the video! The clamp is made by System 4 - there is are a few good videos that describe the stand and its options on UA-cam. The one I used in the video is the lap stand and clamp. We are also located outside of Boston if you ever find your way a little south and would like to try one out! Happy Stitching

    You keep saying “X”s. Newbies may find this confusing. It’s actually a “plus”

      You see the positive space, she sees the negative space. It's a question of perspective . I am a newbie and I'm not confused since I can clearly see the x shes referring to

      @@JadeScarlett Glad you are enjoying needlepoint. I am a recognized expert in needlework. I feel that the terminology used here is outside the "standard" terms you will find. This is a very well filmed video and this offsets any confusion for newbies. Painted canvases may present more of a problem, because the center of the "plus" determines the color. But, hey, it works for you and that's the important part. Happy stitching. ( I'm smiling behind my mask )

    i have an unrelenting fear of the # 13. a phobia . hi , my name is paul, my friends call me "stitches" , stitch for short. i have triskaidekaphobia , in laymen's terms, fear of # 13. i see you are using a 13 stitch grid. i learned that within the first minute of your video. i am wondering if you will ever produce another video with either 12 or 14 grid. i am afraid to watch this video. i will keep checking. also, i love the stork scissors ! i have a pair fashioned to resemble mt. rushmore. peace

    Do we go from right to left always?

  • @pajones02
    @pajones02 4 роки тому

    I like your slow step-by-step approach. I take issue though with the beginning of your second row, and showing that it's ok to use half-cross stitch (although you didn't call it that) every other row. It's not a good choice, and it's confusing to a beginner. Otherwise, nice teaching.

      R S Oh, don't give up... just take your time, take it slowly. It took me a while to get it as well and all of a sudden it just clicks. Just buy a little kit that comes with the yarn you'll need and follow the directions; it will tell you where to start. It's a wonderful hobby and results in such incredibly pieces. Keep trying, please. You won't be sorry but truly glad you stuck to it.
