  • I’ve always had a very high metabolism…which is likely why I so easily went into energy deficit when I believed I was just being “healthy.”
    As someone who loves connecting the dots and is fascinated by science, I started to wonder what role metabolism plays in autistic people…
    Studies show that neurodivergent brains use burn up to 67% more calories. When you compound this with being in a constant state of fight or flight mode, it makes sense why autistic people may need more calories, especially with an ED history!

    I always believed autism affects metabolism because I notice alot of us are either skinny or overweight.

    You have no idea how much rest this gives me. I've always eaten a good amount of food and felt bad afterwards. Turned out I'm on the spectrum and, well maybe I actually need it..?
