It's crazy how in blind test they keep prefering Samsung photos but then they keep callibg the iPhone "the best and more consistant phone camera in the world".
It's consistently decent or great, other phones have much larger range due to their hardware, so they aren't wrong, the best? That's subjective
So, I think a lot of kudos needs to go to Snapdragon for what they did with the ISP in the new chipset. IMHO if Samsung can optimize a bit more and work through their shutter issue, they will absolutely crush Apple down the line.
The second August update has improved the lag and everything overall significantly on my S22U!!

As a user of s22u, I was surprised of how good zfold4 did all these photos. It was really good! I have an iphone 11 pro too, but I dont want to upgrade yet until apple gives type c port charger for iphone. I'm still good with the old 11 pro. Thanks for this comparison challenge guys! 👍

I was surprised at how well the fold 4 did. I was not expecting that at all. I'm curious to see how the iphone 14 will do in comparison once it is out! You guys should do a comparison between the s22 ultra after its camera update and the iphone 14. Great video!
When is it getting the camera update
As a Z fold 4 owner even I was shocked how well it did here, my sister has the s22 ultra and that camera is very impressive

iPhone - 6
S22U - 18
I believe if Samsung fixes the HDR (which I think they did with this week's update), it'd smash even more.
Other than that, I think Fold4 is doing much better job than I would've expected from a significantly worse camera system than S22 or iPhone, I'm really surprised.
It's camera system is better than the s22 and s22 plus it's only worse than the s22 ultra but then again the folder does have a wider lens to allow more light

Actually the fold 4 has improved software processing that the s22U doesn't have right now, but its getting it in another august update or september, so thats awesome!

I’ve shot a lot with the IPhone and have to say it seemed to do extra bad in a lot of those photos. Honestly seemed off to me. A lot of blow out in the sky that I don’t usually see I was wondering if some setting were off. But Z fold did far better than I expected. Very impressive!
Ever since the release, the 13s have had trouble with HDR issues, Apple improved it but not fully apparently! These guys LOVE Apple, they wouldn't tone the iPhone down under any circumstances!

As someone who went from the 13pro to the s22 uktra and now have the fold 4 I can say this resultsare consistent with my experience... Great phone.

I would like to see a video like this, comparing each phones raw photos. After going through the editing processing. So you can see how good the dynamic ranges are ext. I know most ppl don’t use their phones raw photos. But if you want the “best” photos. Shooting raw and editing is the best way.

Less than 1% of cameras phone shooters ever use RAW.
And anyone who shoots RAW is going to use a 'real' camera instead. So it doesn't really matter what a smartphone does shooting and editing RAW since essentially no one does it. It's moot.

@@henrylove4916 Haha 😆! Thanks man! Very generous of you! But since my Fold 2 is still going strong in terms of software and the hinge sturdiness, I think I can hold off another year. It’s just the camera that I don’t like because of the oversharpening and overexposure. If the Fold 5 comes with a slightly wider front display and improved battery, I’ll jump to get it. The longer you wait to upgrade, the more noticeable and significant the changes feel 🙂

@@janakirambehara4602 Samsung batteries are dependent on the draw of the lot. Some people have excellent batteries in their phones while others charge the same phone multiple times in a day. Samsung’s control on the battery manufacturing process is not very tight. *Note 7* comes to mind.

Fold (14) , s22 ultra (13) , iphone (8). The fold 4 started with a bang for me, winning multiple comparisons back to back. The s22 slowly clawed back some ground with its zoom ability and as the shots got darker. The iPhone was a consistent miss with its color reproduction ironically. However, that same color was able to win out in dark landscape settings.
Genuine question: Do you still have all the photos from your previous testing of the iPhone 13 Pro Max? I ask as these most recent photos in this video appear to be dreadful, and much worse than your older tests. I'm wondering if recent software updates have affected performance. I would love a comparrison of current to older photos from the iPhone.

Makes me feel good about my Fold4 purchase. I took it to a concert last weekend and it did pretty well, but most of the photos I took were night shots from a distance, which it doesn't exactly excel at. I still need to get out during the day and use it to take more general photos.

With cameras, as we know, it is now mostly about software (ergo Pixel), and that improves with time. so this is very easy to call. 1st-Fold4, 2nd-S22, and third iPhone. That is in order of the latest releases. So a year-old iPhone has zero chance of beating the Samsungs. I expect the iPhone 14 Pro to level up in a few weeks to make the three of them closer.
The age of the phone doesn't really say much. After reading the comments, many are saying the S22 is getting the same processing as the Fold. So Apple can also improve theirs? What's holding them back.

Age doesn't matter here, even older or cheaper phones can keep up with the iPhone in camera, it's just simply apple not doing enough and the competition just keeps getting better

It's not perfect because it's lacking 10x zoom camera, it's extremely weak, no dust rating, and it's 2,000$ which is not a perfect price

Wanna let you guys know that As of today samsung has issued a new update with major camera upgrades for the S22 Ultra!
It's the zoom on the s22u that makes it so good. Most things can be tweaked afterwards and I use a compact flip for everyday use but the optical zoom is really impressive when you are travelling or need that good shot rather than a snapshot.
Got 13 for the s22 ultra , 11 for both the fold and the iphone , and tbh I'm really impressed by how good the fold 4's camera is.

Even with that massive display and comparitvely smaller battery ,the fact that Z fold alread beaten S22U in battery life is amazing,mainly because of that new efficinet 8+gen 1 chipset.this video shows that new chipset's Image Processing Channels are also great.Cant wait to see what S23U will offer with that next years 8 Gen 2 chipset

Idk they say the 13 pro and pro max have the same camera, but my 13 pro max takes pictures way better than what was tested in this regular 13 pro video.

I really enjoy these videos! However, its kind of like comparing TVs in your local appliance/electronics store. Once you get your TV home, and have nothing to compare it to, you're happy with your purchase. I loved my iPhone 13 Pro Max photos until I saw this video... 😂

I believe I chose different photos, but ended up with the same scores as Angelica. 15 for S22, 11 for Fold and 9 for iPhone. Was getting a bit scared for iPhone, but it showed its true colours at night. They are all amazing for most shots. Now to see how the flip compares to the pixel!

I change phones quite often and I've been with the s22 for about 6 months now, its battery is very good, it has the most versatile camera with the best zoom, I think that in terms of camera it is the one that best adapts to all scenarios

Samsung has done a fenominal job in camera software and image processing for the Galaxy ZFold 4. They will update the Galaxy S22 series camera software, for sure.

One of your sunset shot with S22 Ultra, I had the same problem as well. It is probably better off using pro, take it with raw and correct it in photoshop to get as close as you see in real life. Samsung S22 Ultra struggles with accuracy of brightness/contrast and colours for sunset photos. Same with old Samsung S6 Edge I remember back then. Sometimes colours were off and the brightness too intense in the brightest part of sunset.
They all look bad to me haha

In all fairness, the iPhone 13 is a year old now, and Apple is known for subtle upgrades to iPhone, year-on-year. As your guys’ videos are saying, watch out for the iPhone 14 lineup, especially the Pro models. The results should be jaw dropping.
