I really like these video. Step bye step trouble shooting thanks 🙏 and keep them coming like this ❤
Great video again, I've never seen a va4 before now so thanks for the overview. Luke has helped me many times to repair game gears on discord and the retrosix spares and parts are top notch. A big hello from the west of Ireland.
Glad you like the videos and thanks for the kind words
Luke,
Such amazing videos!! You have given me the confidence and knowledge to start modding better!!
That's really good to hear. If you want any videos on anything you struggle on just let me know
👍👍👍👍👍A thousand thanks!! with this video I solved a problem on a board ... your products are truly excellent, congratulations! I send you greetings from Naples
Thank you. Glad you liked the video
Fantastic video. Just in time too. I have one of these that has similar issues and didn't think to maybe change the wires. Keep up the great work. Love your products. I have the clean juice, works Fantastic. Take care.
Thanks. Glad you like the video
Yea man, that board is waaay different from the other versions. I really thought the original screen was a cheap aftermarket replacement for the times, those consoles came out. I was used to seeing those on flexible ribbon cables. I have one of those VA4s that I bought on eBay. It needs a recap, which I’m gonna do, as soon as I buy a ceramic capacitor kit.
hello my game gear after LCD mod display flickering with a grey color and not work where i have to check to fix the problem?
Was the problem, the cable connector on board of the game gear ?
I’m getting a white line in the display and working audio but no video after complete capacitor replacement. And advice where to check for video input would help. I have this exact board.
This is your next checks www.retrosix.wiki/lcd-circuit-game-gear
Great video, I'm working on one off these at the moment. I need help with replacing the brightness potentiometer, I'd like to see, if possible, a video about fixing this with marked accessible potentiometers.
Yes I'll add it to my list of videos to do
I have repaired many water damaged units but I have a switch and a lite which both work perfectly after cleaning but both run the fan at full speed when completely powered off. I have spent a long time under the microscope but have not been able to determine which part of the circuit controls the fan. I suspect that an enable is floating high when powered off but just wanted to ask if it was something you had come accross yourself. Karl
Jump on our discord.gg/RetroSix. There is a temp control IC that could be the issue and a diode over the fan on some that could be the issue
Where can I find new LCD for game gear VA4 / VA5?
New boards coming in few weeks for VA4/5 finally
I could really use that VA4 compatible clean screen. I have a box full of VA4s and Va5 that could have a second life.
Yep I'll do it soon
Me too
Excellent example of a real world repair!
