that indeed is great news, because if it gets power for half a second and powers off, its 99% sure the caps that have to be replaced. If it is entirely dead you never know if replacing the caps will do the trick.
I have a game gear and it looks like the same problem how would I go about fixing it what would I need I have someone who could fix it from watching your video
Looking for help. After replacing all caps my game gear turns on no problem but if I put screen to full brightness it turns off. Brand new batteries. Appreciate any help.
No disrespect here, but are you and intermediate or something? All that rerouting on the power board was for none. The oxidation needed to be scraped off gently and the pads would of been just fine.
its a good question. It depends on ALOT of things. Such as Type of component, layout of board, your tool etc. However i start at 435c for my base and adjust as needed. (either up or down) But generally for most boards this seems to work for me
mines not working either. opened it up and everything looks really clean. no sign of leakage anywhere, caps look fine. prob still gonna recap anyway. on the off chance that its not the caps what else could be wrong with a non working gg?
I found my old GameGear while going through stuff in the basement. It stopped working as a child and I never opened it.... watching your video has me wanting to open it. My only concern is I'd love to find the correct size capacitors to fit in there so I don't have to lay things down. It's been a long time since I've soldiered or frankly even read a capacitor so I'm not sure I'll even remember how to figure out the correct values. Time to find your other video and see how detailed that is 🙂
do you own a Sega Game Gear? have you even heard of one before? Let me know! LIKE & SUBSCRIBE
Had one as a child and really want one now. So expensive now though which sucks.
Literally bought one because of this video lol
i have one but i have the same problem
Yes, just pulled mine from an old box but doesn't power on....can I send it to you to fix? $$ :)
I have one, It doesnt work a the moment, but at least it keeps power up, so maybe it's less damaged than this one and easier to fix
Really nice work m8! Well done! 👌🏽
Thanks a lot for sharing it with us! 😊
Yes I did a led back light panel from hand held legend 10 dollars makes battery life longer doesn't use a lot of power
They used epoxy to glue the caps down good job fixing that gamegear
yeah what a time consuming process to add epoxy though
Loved the video you should do a mcwill mod
@@matthewbowles3233 thanks! I have the mcwill kit just got to do it haha
Great video! I love the gamegear. Repairing them is very difficult though lol. Keep up the great work! (: sega4life
oh yeah they take alot of work!
Turns on for literally half a second, the console dies, nothing on the screen and won't turn on
"We had some power, so that's good"
😂

I think this is a capacitor issue. I've seen a few repairs like these and have learned that these little parts can go bad over time.
Hi
I’ve 2 gamegear and I’ve replaced all capacitors but I’ve vertical Lines on first and blank screen on second
I came here from his other chanson I mean channel
i like how you edit it to add a comment and not fix it hahahah
Hi do you repair these as I have one too and it has the same problem but the screen flashes too. Thanks

Thank you for the video:)

I like how you sound rude, but are probably just asking a genuine question with no malintent.
@@zadock6370 😇
@@mattfire8579 whats that supposed to mean? am I a good boy or are you?
@@zadock6370 I was specifically referencing my genuine question and curiousity without mal-intent.
@@mattfire8579 ok. thanks.
Never seen anyone place that liquid on the capacitors? What is it? And then you use heat..
Liquid flux
Could you do a movie and use 1206 ceramic caps would love to see a movie about that
a movie? i can certainly use ceramic caps, but the guide is pretty much the same :)
JuicyJake Repairs do you know what the values are that needed for the ceramic caps thanks in advance
Bit of random question but what temperature do you use to remove and also re-attach ic's?

well. That kinda explains why my 3 Game Gears aren't starting. I assume they are in a similar condition.
Hi do you happen to know the part numbers for all 3 transistors on the power board 2 small one large?

console5 is your friend, they have everything, but expensive if your outside of the USA because they always use boxes instead of envelopes.
How about if there's no sigh of power? Is it fixable?
yes, it could be the capacitors on the power board
Is anyone else watching this video and having it skip and stutter constantly?
Not me. Lots of editing that can look like frame stuttering though.

thank you!
