They made a mistake making him a senior at the time he was, he should be in the same class as Tina are Artie so we could see more individual character development.
Still annoyed that the scene where Mike gets into college was cut, YET THE FINCHEL SCENE WHERE THEY ARE FIGHTING OVER CHAIRS WAS KEPT IN the S3 finale. And he only really got one episode that focused on him :(
He already out-dances the other male characters so to ensure that they keep him out of the spotlight, they probably wrote him as a bad singer even though he could sing competently. The funny thing is that he was better at singing than some of his castmates whose characters were written as good singers although I'm not sure who they were fooling.

And they tried to sell characters like Quinn and Finn as great singers (at first anyways) even though they weren't. Cory played Finn to perfection acting-wise and Dianna is one of the stronger actors and dancers on the show. But I found both of them to be lacking in terms of their vocal abilities. I found Finn to be very mediocre all the way around. And Quinn's voice was thin and lacking in resonance.

Lea has basic dance moves because Lea has Broadway training. Also because Cory couldn’t dance. It would be weird. Also rachel is supposed to be a triple threat.

Check out Burts graduation present to Kurt, Tina cuts a pretty nice figure in that leotard! Everything they did with her character after season 3 was just horrible and wrong. Alyssa Giungo i always found it weird bc first 3 seasons they did play so much with her character’s identity crisis. And she explicitly never cared much for prom queen or anything like that. Making her a mix of the worst features of quinn and rachel was the worst they did. She was her own flesh out character, they just had to deep more into what she brought to the table, not change her :( and that blaine storyline was just horrible.

The writers seemed to hate a lot of the minority characters/actors. They not only wrote Mike as a bad singer even though his singing was fairly competent but in terms of his dance abilities, they only showed a tiny portion of what he can actually do. I honestly think the writers were trying to hide him so that he would not upstage his white male co-stars. They didn't even have him shirtless in the Rocky Horror episode, probably because his abs would upstage the others. They also wrote Dijon/Matt completely out and replaced him with a big nothing like Sam/Chord. They wrote Mercedes as lazy with a bad attitude and as a bad dancer even though Amber could dance well. Unfortunately the lazy label stuck with Amber because of that although I'm hoping her victory at DWTS might help with that. And Jenna has a beautiful soprano voice and could also dance quite nicely but she received very few opportunities to show her stuff.
gk891 exactly . from season 4, they basically just re wrote tina as a second rachel berry. all the minorities on the show had so much talent but they had to give the main role to rachel and finn lmao.

They made the one black Cheerio annoying and basically no substance, Jake out of no where became a cheater and they hardly let him show off his talent (like Mike), and they not only kept misgendering Unique but didn’t add any depth besides sassy black woman. During season 6 they finally gave a little depth to the one thin black girl (yes I believe her weight helped with that). Even if they weren’t overtly racist they did micro aggressive things that played into stereotypes. Which whatever it’s fine to do that with a character as long as they have other traits and aren’t pushed aside for white bland characters. Also with what happened behind the scenes of allowing Lea to say racist things to other cast mates just proves that they don’t really care about minorities or our struggles.

He’s got 2 movies coming out (other than cra sequels) when it’s possible & he’s a lead in both of them. He really deserves all our support so keep an eye on him 🥺

Better singer than Corey for sure, and arguably better than Chris and Kevin.
I would agree that he's better than Cory and Chris (I know many love the latter but I find his voice to be extremely shrill and grating). But Kevin is probably the best male vocalist on the show. Kevin's tone, pitch, strength, and resonance are all top notch.
