It was always running, even when stored in New Westminster BC. The owner just kept it stored, he brought it out for little runs every now and then just on the property
It's hard to believe knowing that diesel was in a collision just 33 years prior, and while it hasn't run since 2019 on Heber Valley, it's shocking to know this former Via Rail unit now resides on the Heber Valley Railroad in Utah.
The locomotive did operate into 2020, and was running at the railroads shop in 2022 after receiving some new injectors and seals. Occasionally other projects have received priority over it, but they’ve been putting work into it as time permits. The railroad has a fleet wide painting project going on right now, and 6300 is included in the lineup per sources from the railroad.
It depends on which other geep you’re talking about. The former Union Pacific GP9 has been receiving bodywork for a repaint, and the other B&M GP9 has gotten some mechanical work done to the prime mover, trucks, and other components.
if i had the money i would try to get 6300 back into Alberta canada, put her back into her VIA paint Livery and and have her as a working Display and Historical Train. seeing her like this breaks my heart.
Well the VIA Historical Association is working to restore 6539/6303 and repaint it back into VIA. If you have any money I’d recommend donating to that cause rather than day dreaming about this one.
Well, it's in Utah now, I'm sure it'll be pretty hard to get her back into Canada. Besides, it's an FP9, and a Hinton survivor. I'm sure that thing's got some 'plot armor' here and there
The locomotive has been in storage receiving some minor mechanical work. I believe the work has been completed and now the locomotive is waiting for a repaint.
Luckily the VIA Historical Association is working to preserve sister locomotive 6303. If you have any spare money I’d recommend donating to that group.
Ah, the old Hinton unit. Glad to see she's still in service.
It brings me joy to see PanAm 77 running and not scrapped
I'm happy that #6300 is finally running under her own power, and she's the sole survivor of the Hinton Train Collision.

This is the same FP9 that was involved in the 1986 Hinton train head on collision

@@jacobmorgan7974 I see thx
2:22 is this the real horn of 6300 that was involved in the hinton train collision?
Nah it’s a Leslie RS5T. It would’ve had a Nathan m3/m3h
@@NorthEasternMotionProductions Same goes with all the other FP9 and FPA4 diesel locomotives operating at around that time.
@@NorthEasternMotionProductionsor a K3H/L
is this loomotive still there?
Yes. The locomotive is in line to receive a repaint as a part of the railroads current painting project.
@ ohhh oke. Speaking of that, how’s the other geep doing? I know one got repainted but the other hasn’t been heard from in a while

That B&M GP9 needs to go to Conway RR
How come?
