Karen Carpenter had the most perfect voice. No one can compare to her.
Her contralto voice was beautiful,It is my opinion that she has the most beautiful voice ever recorded.
Smooth sailing...so nice to the ears..tq
I've watched a lot of reactions to the Carpenters because it interests me to see what young people brought up on different styles of music think of the music of my generation. I really didn't expect the love I'm seeing for them; I thought people would think they were schmaltzy. What I'm hearing most is how great Karen's voice was. It makes me feel very good to hear this.
I think if Karen were alive, she would be so proud that the next generation appreciates her music. Legendary, the Carpenters are.
She was as good a drummer as she was a singer!
Her voice is "on point," "kind and gentle"; well-said.
She laid down the drum tracks for this as well! A drummer who sang like an angle! The GOAT!
Rainy Days And Mondays, Close To You, Superstar, For All We Know, Goodbye To Love, they had so much great music, and Karen's voice was and is so amazing, like satin rubbing against your soul She was a wonderful talent that was taken from us way too soon. Rest with the angels sweet Karen.
Dancing in the street, drum solo 1968 👌🏼
This has been sung at a million weddings! If she sang off a page in the phonebook it would win a Grammy!
I'm a Carpenters fan, too. The musical talent were so gifted. I even liked listening to Burt Bacharach songs by vocalists such as Dionne Warwick and Dusty Springfield.
All those beautiful harmonies are courtesy of Karen and Richard.
Rainy Days and Mondays is also a great song🎵
Its my favorite of them !
I haven't (yet) heard their entire body of work, but, of what I have heard, I consider Rainy Days and Mondays to be Karen's virtuoso performance.
Karen had a voice in a million....and could expertly play the drums!
Gotta correct you here. One in over 3 billion.
The Carpenters, Richard and Karen, were a brother sister act. Richard wrote the songs and produced, Karen sang her heart out. They had many hits and beautiful songs. We lost Karen in 1983 to anorrexia nervosa. Back in the 80's many young girls would get this illness. They would not eat until they starved themselves to death. Don't hear about this condition anymore. It was a sad day for music lovers the day Karen died. R.I.P. Karen.
"Her voice is kind". That's the best description I ever heard for Karen's beautiful voice.
An absolute masterpiece.
Brother and sister. They have many other songs I think you would absolutely love. She sadly died back in 1983 from complications of anorexia. I was 19 when she passed. I was a fan and it floored me. Other great songs are: "Superstar". I highly recommend. Also: "Rainy Days and Mondays" and many others. Her voice is second to none even now. Many tried to imitate but none can match her soul piercing voice. Hope you enjoy Karen and Richard as much as I have over the decades.
the carpenters, brother and sister richard and karen, were THEE top u.s. hit makers of the 1970's... countless classics, including their christmas music..... karen was a world class drummer and her brother was a world class pianist as well... she sang lead, he sang back up and they both (AND ONLY THOSE TWO!) did all of the background vocals and harmonies... richard also was the arranger of their songs.. karen then and now is considered to have one of if not THEE greatest female pop voice of love and romance songs ever.. with this song, "we've only just begun" that hit #2 on the charts, karen carpenter is ONLY 20 YEARS OLD!...Surely the most beautiful, rich, intimate, perfect tone and pitch, warm voice female voice ever..the song then and now is one of the most played wedding songs of all time..
I've always LOVED Karen's voice,of course, but I also always felt that Richard's voice was underappreciated. He had a WONDERFUL voice, too.
Karen was a pretty good drummer also. She's in one of their videos working them.
They are Brother and Sister "Richard Carpenter" & "Karen Carpenter" Are The Singer/Music Duo Group "The Carpenters" 😺
she and roy orbison...angel vocals, harmonies..I mean it must be a fact that harmonies can heal your soul, something about when people harmonize
This was played at every wedding in the 70s 80s and 90s. That, graduations, radio ect.
Velvet drizzled in honey, wrapped in silk. Also check Superstar and Rainy days Mondays. Love her.
There are good singers, great singers and Karen Carpenter.
Masquerade, rainy days and mondays, superstar...all of their songs are great though!
No auto tune- pure talent!
Only Yesterday my favorite. Like many others I'd like to go back in time, give Karen a hug, and tell her she is loved unconditionally just the way she is!!
The guy standing next to her is Richard, her brother.
You should see the Ed Sullivan version of the song. She played drums on it, and was 19 when they appeared.
Btw, she considered herself a drummer who sang. Buddy Rich, a legendary drummer, called her his favorite and she won best drummer in 1975.
Then, her voice. She's considered to be one of the best singers of all time. John Lennon once saw her in a cafe and told her that her voice was his favorite.
Can't forget Richard. Very talented on the keys and a world renowned artist in his own right.
Too bad her illness took her away. She'd be a mentor to so many more now, and would likely have countless platinum and gold records.
The world who knew her misses her.
Should read Karen's story. Ultimately a sad one. An amazing talent. A voice gifted by the angels..Another beautiful voice that left us way too soon was Eva Cassidy at the age of 33 of cancer. She never reached the level of fame Karen did, and was only really discovered after she passed. An extremely down to earth person, record companies wanted to sign her but they wanted her to sing what they wanted her to sing, but she refused to sell out, and wasn't after the limelight...Pull up anything by her, and you will be pleasantly surprised.
Totally agree. Eva Cassidy is a must hear. Try her version of "Over the Rainbow" I promise you it will bring tears. And then her cover of "Fields of Gold" It brought Sting himself to tears.
@@livelaughandlovelong Those are great, but I love her version of "Chain of Fools."
@@sjd5750 There is a remastered version of that and it incorporates brass. You can view it here. ua-cam.com/video/XRNleKBDCNw/v-deo.html
Richard and Karen..brother and sister
amazing how I take it for granted that everyone knows the Carpenters...?? I grew up with them....so taken / tookm for granted......Brother and sister grp.... If she were alive she'd be 69 and probably still be singing....she'd be a living legend...
Please react Carpenters Superstar 😄
Karen Carpenter was one of the greatest female vocalist of all times, beautiful amazing voice no auto-tune no back woods tricks just straight up talent. Check out their hit song from 1970 that pretty much started it all for the Carpenters. Check out the song CLOSE TO YOU, find a video on UA-cam that lasts at least up to 3:41, enjoy
This brings me back to my earliest childhood memories. Karen's voice was straight from heaven. Thanks and God bless!
You need to hear Carpenters - masquerade
Didn’t she have a beautiful voice? Thanks 😊
Close to you is my personal favorite Carpenter’s song.
Simply beautiful.
Just brother n sister.
I just looked on Wikipedia n the bassist n drumt were famous members of The Wrecking Crew, a group of studio musicians that, at the time, most of America didn’t realize were the ones really responsible for TONS of hits!! See the WC’s documentary. Was on Netflix. Glen Campbell used to be in that group. (Large group)
Karen Carpenter É A Voz Feminina Mais Linda De Todos Os Tempos
This song was a bank (Crocker Citizens National Bank) commercial before the Carpenters covered it and had a hit with it.
You are so right and it’s for the youth to start and be happy😊
You think that’s good - listen to rainy days and mondays! Karen just kills it! Thanks for the commentary! 😀

#1 wedding song!
Their manager wanted her to sing, she said, I'm not a good singer, I'm a drummer. Yeah, right.

Karen also plays drums
Brother and Sister with other musicians. Hear her sing Superstar live. Just perfect, too.
When I was a kid I was to cool for them but as an adult to hell with that they are extremely talented. Rainy days and Mondays my fav.
The guy that was standing close to her was her brother. The Flower 🌹

Song 🎵
Great reaction.
How come some people get it and others don’t see it. Yes they are so on point you get it
The holidays are coming listen to her Christmas songs
The Carpenters were not "hip," in their era. They were secretly liked by the "hip," contemporary artists of their day.
Hi it’s grant in Philly! I think you should react to the cup flip challenge video! Your reaction is supertastic!
🔝🔝
Hi! I’m glad you discovered Carpenters 2 years ago, I’m just seeing you now. I do have a suggestion that I bet isn’t on your list. I hope the Carpenters mafia has given you plenty to react to. I’ll add one. This is a live performance from 1970, like We’ve Only… it outside, live and Karen is killing it, just doing what she does. I’ll link it here, enjoy it is The Bacharach/David Medley and it’s a joy.

Brother and sister
BROTHER SISTER
Their brother and sister, she died
#GenuineReaction 💯 🤗
Could you please react to "Hopelessly devoted to you" by Olivia Newton John 😘
or "Zombie" by The Cranberries 😬😏
Karen and richard carpenter brother sister
Thanks, ITZJT - her voice is so amazing, right? this is a "cheesy" video - did you not crack up at that guy in the foreground going nuts on tambourine? - Yep, Karen and Richard were brother and sister - he was a great writer/arranger - and a decent singer.. but KAREN was the one...
The fashion of the seventies did not age well...or has not returned yet. The music on the other hand... ")
"I'm loving their voice"
Karen Carpenter was perhaps one of the best voices of the century. From what I gather, her brother is was the composer and wrote to her vocal strengths and exploit her vocal range.
When you said you can put this on in the car, it reminded me of this scene from the movie Tommy Boy. ua-cam.com/video/nLM6_rUp6NU/v-deo.html
Your face wow
It doesn't get much more Caucasian than this. Still, she had one helluva voice.
Are you having a fit????
"Is they family?" Wow... someone needs a grammar check.
She had such a sad life and never really wanted to be a singer just a drummer but was pushed to the front. I
read her biography and apparently her parents didn't give her much credit they always thought her brother had all the talent. She just wanted their attention. RIP Karen.
