Lighting techniques for candle lit still life photography

Mixing ambient and strobe flash light.
In this video I take you step by step through the process of making creative still life photography.
I will demonstrate how to mix ambient light from candles with studio flash to produce an atmospheric still life study.
From the studio lighting using a simple one light studio flash set up, through the tethered capture in Capture one software, to the final image in Adobe Photoshop.
Every stage of the image creation is covered.
I'll use a Canon DSLR, tethered into Capture one software to show you how to capture your subject from basic image to completed photograph.

Thanks alot for this video. Can you get the same result in one shot rather than 2 shots with comping in PS? I was considering something like this but in my case, taking a picture of a birthday cake and celebrant ( obviously 2 shots is impossible in my case because the human is not static ). Can you do a single shot of blending both flash for the subject and ambience for the candle light of the cake together?

Yes you can, possibly better to use second curtain sync if you have a long exposure with people in the shot.
