Farewell Papa

What would have been a straightforward program for the departure of Late Grand Chief to Wewak turned into a day of many emotions.
A crowd of Port Moresby residents who had come out to farewell Papa Somare did not like the idea of the casket being placed at the cargo end of the Q400.
In the end, the family agreed to have the father of the nation carried on the Royal Australian Air Force C-27.

Proud of the our people who showed their great loyalty to our Great Grand Chief who they believed deserved honour and respect from us. Again, this shows the power of the gift of voice that can resonate beyond.the heavens and that is exactly what our Grand Chief used as a tool to communicate and negotiate for our independence. Let us all follow the same way as our Grand Chief to use our voices with courage, strength, peace and confidence for the right reasons for the good of our people, our nation and our Government. This was actually the original plan,to have Sir Michael Somare's casket flown in the Australian military aircraft; but some folks decided to change that and have him flown in the usless air niugini aircraft instead. WTF.Thank God the public had more common sense and succeeded in forcing the officials to have him sent home in the Australian military aircraft..
