  • Papua New Guineans are mourning the loss of the man they've long regarded as the father of their nation. Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare has died aged 84 after battling pancreatic cancer. He became the country's first Prime Minister after leading the pacific nation to independence in 1975. As Natalie Whiting reports, he's being remembered as a towering figure in PNG history, and a great friend to Australia.
