    I feel like the phrase "the sweatpants of makeup" activated a core memory in me. That was my sleeper agent phrase.
    Also Neutrogena feels like the drugstore equivalent of the trending "minimal effortless" beauty brands like Merit, Rare Beauty, Kosas, or Tower 28.

    Shade range is one thing but undertones are what’s key. You can have fifty shades but if the undertones aren’t working you won’t find a shade that works. Conversely, you can have a more limited shade range that really nails a variety of undertones and have great success finding a good match. Not every brand can meet every person’s need. And as far as in store selection…the supply chain…she is broken. Has been for awhile. 😊

    • @makeuplover6852
      @makeuplover6852 Рік тому +11

      Thanks for bringing up the supply chain, many brands have been experiencing long delays in their fill -ins, some of the most popular items have been out for almost a year. Why? Well that's complicated but let's just say, as you say " supply chain...she's broken"... there are huge problems from the raw ingredients all the way to packaging, labour, transportation etc etc etc. Just know...stores are loosing HUGE sales due to all of this - believe me, as a 32 year senior retail executive... if the stores could get the products in to fill the shelves, they would.

    Regarding the shade selection at stores.....I used to work with buyers from retail outlets as a rep from a manufacturer. Most stores have population data for a given radius around the store and have an estimate on what ethnicity/quantity of are projected to shop there. Most will only stock what is expected to turn in inventory. It is all very numbers based. The manufacturer usually has very little input unless they have a very generous spoilage allowance. All I’m saying is don’t hate on the brand when it is more than likely the retailer.

      Great video, was at Walmart the other day looking at the Neutrogena foundations, but not knowing which one did what. So perfect timing!! Agree with you about the amount of products in the Neutrogena area. I'm 54, and I tried the concealer stick before, but it settled in my wrinkles so bad. Now, change of topic. I'm a migraine sufferer too. I've seen a lot of people saying to visit the chiropractor, I have done that years ago and every time I did, I got a migraine on the way home. Just my experience. Hope you feel better, I know it's miserable, will keep you in my prayers....

    As someone who deals with chronic migraines and neck pain, I can tell you that neck pain can definitely trigger migraines. There is also another type of headache called Cervicogenic headaches that mimic migraines, but are actually referred neck pain. I get those too, and it can be hard to tell the difference. The biggest difference is migraine meds rarely work, or don't work completely, on clearing Cervicogenic headaches. One other thing to think about is that the pain receptors for your entire body are in your neck, so if you hurt your neck, it can trigger pain signals elsewhere. For those prone to migraines, it can trigger migraine pain, because that is what your body is familiar with. The human body is so fascinating, yet also frustrating at times. 😂 I hope you feel better quick! Also, a lot of times docs will prescribe a muscle relaxer, which can feel great to help calm things down. The downside is that they often have headaches as a side effect, and can cause a rebound headache/migraine. Good luck! Great video today!

    My biggest complaint about Neutrogena is that their fairest shades (I've tried Healthy Skin and Hydroboost) are INCREDIBLY peachy/orange on my pale beige/olive skin tone. Formulas were nice, but I returned both because they were absolutely unwearable for me. If companies could keep their shades in a more neutral undertone I would be so happy!

      THIS!
      I don’t know why it is.
      Do they do a composite of all the photos in the media, and figure that the average American has the same complexion as Donald Trump?
      Or is it because their main pigment is iron oxide, AKA rust?
      No matter what the line, the undertone is primarily Warm, in the orange/yellow range. I did the little online analysis, and as a cool/neutral Light, my options are really limited, regardless of the brand. Very frustrating.

    I don’t know how stores go about ordering shades but at my small town Walmart- they consistently have the same shades that just do not sell in that demographic. So the same shades are always on clearance. Maybe it’s a way to save money if they notice a pattern of certain shades never selling.

    • @makeuplover6852
      @makeuplover6852 Рік тому +8

      They don't really "order' shades. The brands set up the displays and Wal-Mart will show a sale or out of stock, if the brand has it in stock it will be replenished to the Wal-Mart store. Wal-Mart doesn't carry a lot of makeup in their warehouse, the brands hold the stock and Wal-Mart pulls directly from them to replenish their shelves. The brands reps come in and should be taking stock of what the display looks like etc. So a really sad looking display means the rep for that brand is doing a lousy job. You can reach out to the company - tell them your area and the names of the stores where you shop frequently and let them know that the brands section isn't being well kept and that they are definitely loosing sales due to stock outs and an overall very disappointing shopping experience with that brand. This is the same for all stores, not just Wal-Mart, so all the pharmacies, grocery store, target etc. The brands manage these sections themselves do the in store displays etc. Now, store employees should be keeping them tidy, etc and they will have a little back stock they can put out but the major management is done by brands reps that have a region/ area that they are responsible for. This goes for all make up brands, so those that you find in department stores also. That's why you will often see someone with a " Vendor" badge on - working in the department stores on weekends. They aren't employed by the department store, they are employed by the vendor/ make up company.

    Emily, about the migraines and neck issues: I have had bad migraines, occipital neuralgia and neck issues for a long time. I guess it was a couple of years ago that I ordered the Lolly Llama raw amber necklace after you talked about it helping your migraines. I didn't really expect much, but Oh my goodness!! It was SO effective!! I did notice that the effect kind of wore off after six months or so and I had to get a new one but so worth it for the price. I will never be without them!! I always have a backup. Thank you so much for that recommendation! It has been a real game changer for me

    Nothing has beat Healthy Skin foundation for me, perfect coverage & I keep looking at my face in awe of the radiance it imparts you mentioned. I wear more on w-end because thru the week if I run low on time its so not portable w/o pump or squeeze bottle. I bought some little containers off Amazon to see if I can transfer some but in meantime switched to spot concealing with Maybelline BB Fresh over it. Loved this video! I like how this foundation didn’t add a yellowish hue that many do and amped up a youthful look to your already baby face. I will pick up that CC since it’s more portable. Definitely eyeliner, color stick temptation maybe eyebrow pen. Mascara looked a bit crusty.

    Where Neutrogena really shines for me is with their SPFs. I have sensitive skin where even Cetaphil, CeraVe, and Eucerin burn, but I have never had an issue with Neutrogena. My latest obsession is the Hydro Boost SPF 50. It is thin, blends in quickly, is clear, and plays well with makeup. 10/10!

I watched your video when you first rediscovered the Hydroboost skin tint and now I can’t stop using it 😅. I even got a shade lighter to use as a concealer and it looks BEAUTIFUL under the eyes! I bought the hydroboost stick concealer too and I like. The textures on both products feel so good going on the skin. Thanks Em for the recommendations 😊

    I used to use their acne foundation until about 8 months ago. It was always okay but kind of light coverage. I have pink undertones so never had an issue with ivory matching. Tried L’Oréal infallible and have hated it every minute and only wore it a handful of times. (I don’t wear foundation that often). So I’m going to give healthy skin a go. NOw that I’m a lot older and don’t worry so much about acne. Thanks for posting!

    I recently rediscovered the OG Healthy Skin and have loved it. Now I want to try more. Being 49 with super dry skin coupled with with med pores like where my cheeks and nose meet, it always does a good job of smoothing that region and wears all day. I wore it when I first started wearing makeup and loved it then as well, here’s hoping they don’t change the formula. I wore the Dior backstage for years and after the recent formula change it just didn’t last and looked terrible so I went back to the Neutrogena healthy skin.
    I also bought the sweatpants based if your recommendation and own so many colors now 😂😂

    Hey Emily. So sorry you're not feeling well. I knew something was off, your happy face is so familiar to me I can tell when you're just not quite there. But your bare skin is impeccable! All the serums and creams are working - thanks for sharing your skincare routine with us in the previous video! As far as the Neutrogena brand, my favorite is the Revitalizing Lip Balm with SPF. This product line could also use a shade range expansion, but the Fresh Plum is the one that lives in my purse, the van, the kitchen junk drawer, the downstairs half bathroom, the catchall dish in the entry way...So thank you for reminding me of the other gems in the brand! And ask your physical therapist for recommendations for a specially formed pillow that will train you to sleep flat on your back, face up. Many brands are available, but I suggest the brand that Laura Rae on UA-cam has a code for. The neck support from that pillow is now something I absolutely crave, even when it's just for a short nap. Amazing invention! Enough from me - thanks for the video!

    I have been loving Neutrogena for years. Their skincare, sunscreens, hydro boost line and some of their makeup, are so good. I like the Healthy Skin foundation, my only issue is that it transfer, but to be honest, I haven't tried it yet with a grip primer to see if that helps. The Hydro lip shine are my favorite, I have 3 colors. I love the mascara and the radiant concealer. The multi use stick is beautiful. The color correcting concealer in peach, it's good too. I'm 47 y/o, aging, dry, sensitive skin. My skin does good with Neutrogena products. I enjoyed watching this video, thanks. I like your channel, it's different from the rest. I love Neutrogena! They are very focused on ingredient quality, and almost everything they make (including their fabulous range of sunscreen) is good for sensitive skin, whether it says so or not. They are one of the few drug store brands that consistently include a pink-toned fair shade... a lot of companies don't bother to do this, so a lot of us pale girls didn't get a lot of attention at the drug store until they came along. I have rosacea, and I've never used a foundation from them that gives me trouble, and their powder foundation is excellent (this is often an issue for people with rashing rosacea). The serum foundation is also nice for mature skin, and their tinted sunscreen liquid is amazing - very hydrating, counteracts red quite well. I don't feel like Neutrogena is slept on, but I do think it got a lot of back talk from people on social media for their limited shade ranges, so they aren't as popular with a certain demographic. Oh and for neck pain I do NOT mess around with that - I'm glad you are scheduled for physical therapy, this should take care of it. I always tell people to go to the doctor immediately, and if they don't suggest physical therapy, ASK. Absolutely can lead to or worsen migraine.
