They stayed together till Freddie died in 1991 - and started as Queen in 1970 - with John joining the group in 1971. - - And they are british - so George Washington is not in the forefront of their minds 🥰. John, the bassist, left the group after Freddie died - and never joined another band, Brian and Roger has solo carriers and have both had other bands and made albums. They have toured from time to time as Queen with other frontmen - but for the last 12 years they have toured with Adam Lambert - the whole world - still for sold-out venues. They have a tight group of musicians - - Spike Edney - has been with the group since start of the 80´s - playing keyboard behind the scene to make it possible for Freddie to perform on stage - interact with the crowd as you witnessed. they also have a bassist and a percussionist - . Many years ago it was Roger Taylors son, Rufus Tiger Taylor, who played the drums. He is now the drummer of "Darkness". Roger and Brian are in their 70's but may tour again in 2025. I hope that you will stick to Queen - their catalog is vast - and they are one of the best bands in the world - second to The Beatles - . You ought to wear headphones - their music deserves it - "Bohemian Rhapsody" will not work without it. Their studioversions are very different from the live versions - - they are multilayered and multifaceted - and they do not try to remake that when on stage. - As you witnessed here they are free and improvising - actually they had to because Brian had a problem that his guitar tech. had to solve - so he left for a while - when Freddie interacted with the crowd. If you watch again you can see him look back to see if Brian is ready to go again. When you have your headphones you must listen to/see the studioversion of "Bohemian Rhapsody" - the rest of the world went nuts in 1985 - and it has topped the charts more than once since then. Enough for now. You have a new subscriber.

I’ll give you some background info on Queen. Queen is comprised of Freddie Mercury, lead vocalist and plays piano and occasional guitar. He has a 4 octave vocal range. Received a diploma in graphic design and created the band’s logo. He passed away in 1991 and is considered by many to be the best frontman ever. Dr. Sir Brian May is the lead guitarist and sings. He also plays piano and harp. He has a Ph D in Astrophysics and has an IQ north of 180. He and his father made the guitar he plays (referred to as the Red Special) out of things they had around the house when Brian was 16. The neck is made from 100 year old fireplace mantle (hand carved), the body made from an oak table and the tremolo bar made from bike parts and his mother’s knitting needle. 60 years later and he still uses that guitar. Brian was knighted 2 years ago. John Deacon is the Bassist and also plays drums, guitar, piano, double Bass. He graduated with High honors degree in Engineering and made an amp out of an old speaker cabinet and things he found in the trash. It’s called the Deacy Amp and he gave it to Brian to use which allows Brian’s guitar to sound like different orchestral instruments. Brian tried to have another one made but no one can duplicate the sounds the Deacy Amp can make. John looked after the band’s finances. Roger Taylor is the drummer and can play guitar as well. His vocal range is up there with Freddie’s and he has a high falsetto earning him the nickname, the dog whistle. He went to school to become a dentist and got bored so he got a degree in Biology. These are 4 talented and smart men who were perfectionists. All 4 wrote number 1 hits and all 4 were inducted into the songwriter’s hall of fame, a feat very few bands accomplished.

@TheReactionCave1 you are right! Brian has worked on several NASA projects including helping to map the asteroid Bennu because of his degree and because he has been interested in stereoscopy and taking 3D pictures since he was a kid. He pointed out to NASA how 3D pictures could help them know where on the asteroid to land a craft which will ultimately help NASA figure out how to deal with an asteroid which may come too close to Earth. Brian is helping to save the world! He is also a huge animal rights activist. A true Renaissance man. They are all intelligent men who started Queen when they were in college. When they signed with Trident Studios they could only record when no one else was so they would go into the studio at 3 in the morning and record until the cleaning crew came in.

Wow, I just happened upon your channel as this video popped up on my feed this evening. So, this is your first time watching a Queen Live performance. Congratulations on your first reaction to one of the legendary bands of rock and roll, Queen! Yes, truly legendary. May I suggest for future QUEEN reactions, you both invest in some headphones, the kind that cover your ears, this way you do not miss out on the special sounds many others do miss when they do not wear the headphones. Queen's humble beginnings start in the early 1970s, so that means autotune was not invented yet, no enhancements made to their voices to make them sound better, what you hear is PURE TALENT.
This song you reacted to was released in December of 1976, in fact, it appeared on Queen's 1976 album 'A Day at the Races'. It was inspired by Freddie Mercury's love for singer Aretha Franklin and built on the layered vocals the band pioneered on "Bohemian Rhapsody" the year before, and THAT song is worth reacting to if you haven't already watched it on your own. Wayne's World only did a portion of it in the movie but that was not the entire song, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is three songs Freddie couldn't finish so he meshed those three songs together and with the help of his bandmates Brian, John and Roger, they created a masterpiece of a song, and you will need the headphones for that one.
Songs suggestions, Studio versions are great imo and then you can treat yourself to the live versions and then you'll be familiar with the songs once you hear them live, the live ones do sound better because you will notice the difference and appreciate Queen's talents if you haven't already. Firstly, 'Bohemian Rhapsody', 'Radio Ga Ga', 'Hammer to Fall', 'Crazy Little thing called Love' written by Freddie Mercury as his tribute to Elvis Presley, 'We will Rock you' and We Are the Champions' That is the set list for the Live Aid benefit concert in 1985, it was a benefit concert to raise money for the famine relief in Ethiopia way back when. Each participating band/artist would have 20 minutes each to play their songs and some of their songs are an abbreviated set and when Queen finally came on stage, well, they stole the show that day. It was also like a comeback for Queen too after they had taken a hiatus from recording together and touring. 72,000 people at Wembly stadium in England and 89,000 at John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, and it was estimated that 1.9 billion worldwide watched it as it was broadcasted to 150 nations via satellite.
Other songs suggested the following written by Queen band member John Deacon (Bass guitarist) 'Another One Bites the Dust', 'I Want to Break Free', and 'You're my Best Friend'. Others you may want to listen to "The Love of my Life" written by Freddie Mercury, 'Fat Bottomed Girls' written by Brian May with Freddie in mind, "A kind of Magic" Written by Roger Taylor (Drums/Vocals) Roger Taylor also has an awesome range vocally as well as being one heck of a drummer for Queen. Just so you know. Oh, and the EXTENDED version of "One Vision" That's another good one to listen to; "Don't Stop me Now written by Freddie Mercury. There are MORE wonderful songs from Queen that displays their talents so wonderfully.
9:20 Actually Johnny, that is not the face of George Washington, on the bass drum, that is the face of Roger Taylor the drummer himself. I read about it on the Reddit website with a link provided for the picture used to put on his bass drum.
10:00 Well Ashley, there are some bands that do have drummers who can sing and play their instruments while performing, it was a thing to do actually, but nowadays, I couldn't say the same for the bands and artists who are popular now.
Johnny and Ashley, I would like to say welcome to the world of Queen, I hope you enjoy your journey and appreciate excellent music from Queen from the 1970s, to 1980s and early 1990s. Sadly we all lost Freddie Mercury in November of 1991, we still love him and miss him to this very day. Peace! ☮

That is a picture of Roger Taylor, the drummer on his drum. Because Roger is so much a part of the harmonies in the songs and because he has such a huge kit, it is hard for the audience to see him so someone in the band (probably Freddie) thought they should put Roger's picture on the drum for the audience.

It's not "Queen's band". The band's name IS Queen.
It's not vocalist + backing band -- It is a unit comprised of four equal members. Four musicians, three of whom are all very good-to-excellent singers and the 4th of whom is an electronics whiz. All four were hit songwriters too, inducted individually into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. (Plus, the full band is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame)

This is one of the greatest live performances ever. Freddie Mercury was an untrained singer, never took singing lessons, but he was a gifted musician, a perfectionist. Freddie was a huge fan of Aretha Franklin and he wrote this song as a tribute to her. By listening to Aretha's early gospel style records, he learned how to sing with phrasing. Since you mentioned the beer, you'll get some dumb comments saying Freddie never drinks beer onstage, even though he does. He's on camera drinking beer in Montreal '81 more than once. Unfortunately some Queen fans on YT are in denial or have poor eyesight. There are always 2 large clear plastic cups filled with beer directly in front of Freddie on the piano in their live videos, including at Live Aid in 1985. The small ones are Dixie cups filled with water. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- With show time approaching, towels and drinks for the band’s refreshment on stage would now be strategically placed: water and beer for Fred, beer for Brian and Roger and the Backstage Bar for John, comprising water, beer, soft drinks, wine and whatever spirit or cocktail he fancied at the time: Southern Comfort, vodka or tequila - Peter Hince (aka Ratty), Fred’s and John’s roadie and head of Queen’s crew
