Side by side I heard them both...the V6 is more F1 and the V8 is more muscle car. Since muscle cars are a dime a dozen on this side of the pond, so to speak (mustang, camaro, corvette.....), I went V6 and tuned it to 475hp on 93...no regrets. It is unique sounding and has more than enough power as tuned for the road/street - have awd. Wonderful car. Utterly reliable....just get metal coolant pipes.
I am lucky enough to now own a F Type almost identical to this one, on the same month as petrol goes to over £2 a Lt. Sods law! won't stop me driving it though. What a car!
@@js1465s I am retired now,, it took me most of my working life to save enough to buy one outright. So it only has limited use. Occasional runs on a dry day. I could not afford the fuel if it was my only car. Basically it's just a toy, however! what a TOY!.
Cannot believe Jaguar are not going to Make another classic sports car Bring back macullum design think Jaguar great not going backwards as future at present !!!
Absolutely beautiful car my one concern is reliability I know I know all cars can have issues but speaking to my local garage best left alone was the answer what are your experiences.
A Jaguar the quintessential British sports roadster ! And what does this guy do, drive a left hand drive one in Europe ! Of course no decent roads in Uk are there, so you must move into Europe ? Wroooooong !
The real problem with the 911 is it is soooooo godawful slow. With 330 ft-lbs it can’t accelerate out of a paper bag. The V8 F-Type gaps a 911 out of sight. It’s absurdly faster. A turbo S is easily obliterated in a roll race by the V8 F-Type too. The margin is smaller but as you point out, Porsche have a long way to go on quality, being ranked worst in the world by an enormous margin. The V8 Jag is untouchable by anything coming from Germany or the US.
Rented a 2017 F-type a couple months ago. It’s absolutely horrible! I was shocked. I have a Porsche 911 and have owned several BMWs (and own a 5 series). Terrible electronic steering feel, throttle response is laggy, sport mode suspension is a bouncy house, gimmicky high rev start and seating positioning/space is limited (I’m only 5’10”). Less luggage space than my P too. Walked away sad (and happy to know I didn’t want one). Hope this helps others. Edit after watching the vid: it’s sad/reality how much these reviewers have to appease the manufacturer for business reasons.
What a crap review! There's no way you can compare the 'S' to a 911. That's the job of the 'R' and it's way cheaper. The wrong man reviewing the wrong car.
Wow look how much Jonny has aged in 9 years, yet the F-Type still looks so young
The F-Type Jag is nothing more than just beautiful.
It is a lot more than just beautiful.
I'm a V8 man, but I got to say that the V6S engine sounds great. In fact, this might be the car where I pick the V6 over the V8.
Aren't any V6 available in the uK only the 2L or 5L v8
@@richardw5375 Jaguar has stopped making V6 F-Type, so that's the only engine choice you got.
Go listen to a V8 again trust me there's no comparison
@@richardw5375plenty available, you just have to turn to the used market.

Jealous! I am curious, how much you spend on fuel a month?? I want one so bad, but scared it’ll bankrupt me 😅

A beautiful car!!
The F-Type was available with a Manual, The V6 only mostly the 340bhp version but the V6S also came with the Manual there rare but they are available

I tell ya Johnny’s a tasty driver ya know. Underrated 😎 Stunning car.
Better than Boxter S but not 911? In other words you get what you pay for! I'd have the Jag on looks alone.
I would like one. It's on my shopping list.
Who's this kid with the beanie? Will never amount to anything 😁
1:30 "...and this car, could be a real Porsche killer.." The unprophetic words of Johnny Smith!
This is the car every single reviewer has been raving about.
*_Fifth Gear revisited?_* _Or have I just woken up in 2013!!??_ 🤔😶🙄
Better than a 911 just for the sound n looks
A car with an engine 👍👍👍
BRING BACK TIFF
Mr Late brake show
this remind meabout top gear

Sounds like a Porsche you say. Are we on the same planet? my dad has a 911 I have a V6S and they sound nothing alike at all.
Porsches sound like plugged vacuum cleaners. They are, after all, really just super beetles.
Why are you guys rehashing a 10 yr old viddy?
All ZF8 Jags are full manuals.
More refined than a Porsche 911?
most definitely, from a design perspective the F-Type is a much sexier car.
And for 2013 versions rusting subframes.

Epic
I just don’t get this reposts of old road tests. Not old enough to call them “classics”, in this days these videos are just outdated information…
My Daughter had here first drive of a jaguar yesterday (shes 12) ua-cam.com/video/otnxTMgRm5Y/v-deo.html
The V8 RWD is lighter with 2x the power.
almost nobody takes their car to a race track. it’s irrelevant to 99% of Jag owners.
The Biggest problem is that Jaguar doesn't offer a proper manual transmission. I'd always buy a Porsche because of the manual option. Thank you.
The F-Type was offered with a 6MT in 2016

Jags lack the reliability of Porsches.
Bet the dude driving it could never afford one in a million years.
The current model F Type is so vanilla and boring looking it’s like a big MX5. Jaguar design team needs sacking.
They ruined the most beautiful Callum design in history. It’s criminal.
@@FFE-js2zp Oh please, they did not. The car is now what it should have been from the start. The original f-type looks dated now.
Can you review reliable cars please, I am tired of the trash
The V8 F-Type is reliable do a little research
probably cant afford one !
If is not reliable is trash 🗑️
Pure trash
That's true but the V8 F-Type is a very reliable car do a little research before you comment
