It’s always fun getting new rods over years and looking back to your old rods and seeing how much you’ve educated yourself. I used to like 6’10-7’ rods since I’m on the shorter side. But after fishing big swim-baits for 2 years now, my 8’ rod seems like a 7’ rod.

That’s so true! You get something that works fine so you never change it

I got a major backlash in that same spot. I always forget to look whats behind me when i cast. Nice fish. Still waiting for my first. Im glad you are back out there. I appreciate what you do

Either most of the grass died or someone cut it down. That spot is way easier to fish now, and it still feels like a skunk buster kinda spot. I always catch one there! I guess there is still one shrub in the danger zone for casting though…

If you ever find yourself looking to part ways with some of your older fishing rods, I'm one of your members here in Fort Worth and would be thrilled to give them a new home! Just a fellow enthusiast eager to enhance my angling gear collection.

Strong hankering for a new rod but I’m gonna keep with what I’ve got a bit longer. That 7’3” is sure tempting though. Winter fishing in Texas: nice day!

I was worried about the 7’3” being too much rod for pond hopping. I really like it though. Maybe I can get some discounts for y’all on rods in the future! The real bummer in this video is that I think I would have caught a few more on the crankbait! I dragged that craw around for hours and only got one fish!

Kistler uses rod blanks from North Fork Composites (Gary Loomis). But the company Edge Rods (by Gary Loomis) uses these blanks as well as better ones. Maybe Kistler sourced their rods at first just to get started but I find it hard to buy Kistler when I can get the Edge Rods with Gary’s name and endorsement behind it. 🤷‍♂️ Glad you like the rod though.

Didn’t know that! I think they might used someone different now. Their website says they use Japanese carbon by Toray. I don’t know haha. I do like the rods though!

Kistler doesnt use NFC blanks for at least 3 or 4 years, their blanks are from China.

All the lures and lines on the telephony/CATV cables running over the pond. I guess lots of folks don't know how to cast.
