    Tyler. Really like your vids. Im curious in that it seems like you missed a couple fish early in the video. I happen to just watch your video regarding your using flipping hooks instead of EWG because of better hook up ratio. Then I saw you miss a good one that seemed to have it in her mouth..... I just am curious that when you miss fish like the ones you did, do you ever reconsider that you might have missed them because your flippin hook?
    I'm just curious since I go back and forth on which is the best type of hook to use as well.
    Thanks again for putting these vids out for us.

    • @BassFishingHQ
      @BassFishingHQ  11 місяців тому +1

      That’s a good question. I always ask myself stuff like that on the water. I did lose one fish in the video and although I didn’t know it it’s because most of these fish were caught on a hook that had a rolled over point. I didn’t notice it till after I got off the water that day. With that being said there are times when no matter what you do or what you use…you are going to lose some fish. I just have seen more days with having EWGs than any other. Like I said in the EWG video, this is a small percentage thing, EWG hooks obviously still work, I just think a straight shank works better

      @mikelittle2524 11 місяців тому

      Thanks Tyler. I really appreciate your insights. I may switch over to flipping type hooks and try and keep track of boated fish. You've got me thinking seriously about this. Thanks again for all the work you put into this.@@BassFishingHQ

    Off topic
    But in the last 10 months I have at least 4 days a week watched videos on how to improve fishing with soft plastics about 50% of the time and fishing all other hard baits I use about 50% of the time
    Easily watched over 200 videos likely closer to 300 and in ONLY two videos did I see the fisherman in the videos catch a significant number of big bass 4-5lbs or over that accounted for over 70% of the fish they caught
    One was a video of a friendly bass competition between two professional bass fisherman one had just won one of the largest pro bass fishing tournaments the other came in second place they were fishing on lake Okeechobee the bass both caught averaged over 5lbs and the guy who won the day (same guy who won the tournament) had a limit that totaled OVER 35lbs no less they both caught all thier bass pitching creature baits into heavy vegetation
    The other was Seth Feider fishing a local not to huge of a lake and Seth's average bass was over 4lbs but none went over 6 he also caught all his bass flipping a Tokyo rigged creature bait piched into heavy vegetation
    All other bass fishing videos I watched in the last 10 months the average size of the bass caught was under 5lbs 90% under 4lbs
    These were fisherman fishing on lakes all over America from Georgia to upper Midwest to Texas to Louisiana to rivers like the Big Miss the the Potomac to the St Lawrence River systems
    My point being over 90% of the bass I saw caught by both professional and semi-pro bass anglers were all below 4lbs and pretty much the same quality of bass I catch fishing in IN, IL and OH.
    My point being outside of CA and FLA bass over 5lbs aren't as common in most of American well known public fisheries as a lot of people think
    Yes I have stumbled onto some rather small public fisheries where I caught an astonishing number of 5lb-6lb bass but they were very few were Kayak or shore access only and we only ever fished those lakes at night away from prying eyes.
    Of all those videos I watch the ones by Tyler Burger and Matt Stefan were IMO the best and helped me the most at becoming a better fisherman
    Matt and Tyler convinced me to part well over $1k in 2023 in New rods hooks lines and at least 70% of my luer purchases were new types of soft plastics and terminal tackle to fish these soft plastics I had never tried before
    Until I watched Matt and Tyler literally the only soft plastics I ever fished were 7-8" plastic straight or curly tail worms in some sade of blue, some with either a neon fire or chartreuse tail and only a 1/16 or 1/8 Oz bullet weight and a Mister twister worm hook
    Then my sons really wanted to learn how to fish soft plastics and progress past only live bait so I surfed YT in January of 23 to see what was new and OH MY LOARD did I learn just how out of touch I was with the latest in soft plastics and soft plastics prestation methods and soft plastic specific hooks and rigging methods
    I set them up with new 36 million/mod rods line (brade and Flouro) weights (some tungsten) and soft plastics (creature and 6-10" worms) recommended by Matt and Tyler and used hooks and modified Texas rigs and other newish soft plastic reggings and then fished them both as I knew how and as recommended again by Matt and Tyler there is one other semi-pro bass fisherman I watch alot but his name escapes me.
    The increase in my success and that of my sons was dramatic proof both Matt Stefan and Tyler know WTH they're talking about.
    I have a pretty good bsss lake waking distance from my home and the 3 SP colors that rocked all last year were Okeechobee craw and black/blue flake
    G/P,umpkon blue flash
    Didn't matter if fishing a 8" 10" worm or a 4" or 3" creature bait those three colors produced fish every outing
    70% of the time were rigged Texas with a bobber stop knot protector class bead and tungsten weight rest of the time free weight with glass bead and a 2nd bobber about 18" above the hook essentially a Carolina rig WO the swivel
    My youngest absolutely loves fishing soft plastics especially worms last year in August we were shore fishing in and around large lilly pads surrounding a very long and distinctive point and he was fishing a 10" black/blue metal flake BP curly tail worm rigged Texas style un-pegged as described above had caught and released three bass in less than an hour all in the 2lb+ to 3lb+ range then he spotted a 10lb+ grass carp crusing close to shore in the lilly pads actually moving the pads quite noticeably told me he spotted it and was going to cast to it and he indeed made a perfect cast to bring his worm to the carp without spooking it just as I told him he was waisting his time carp never eat soft plastics sure enough as if on que as if the carp said, "whatcha mean we dont eat SP's?, hold my beer" my son watched as the carp slurped up his 10" BP worm gave him a awesome fight and he caught his largest fish to date a 12lb+ carp we released.
    So much for WTH I know about grass carp
    This particular lake is absolutely jammed packed with 10-30lb grass carp
    But thanks both to Tyler and Matt they have played a great roll in making my sons and I better bass fisherman
    Matt especially helped me become a better river small mouth fisherman because the Kankakee river near my home is a fantastic small mouth fisherie
