This really makes my heart hurt. I flew out from the east coast and attended the race from 2009 - 2022 (except for 2014 and 2021 (COVID)). Loved my seats in the very top row in turn 1 where they exited the pits. There was nothing like my annual trip to SoCal and Auto Club --- hauler parade on Thurs; practice and qualifying on Fri. Xfinity race on Sat. and Cup race on Sun. Pit passes, Pink's Hot Dogs , IE Fan Zone, premium parking -- this place was the best. Dave Allen was one of the best track presidents in NASCAR, and Gillian Zucker before him did a lot to bring this track to prominence while she was there. I don't hold out much hope that the short track is actually gonna happen. I think they'll bide their time and then discover they can sell the remaining land for a fortune too... My guess is that racing in the Inland Empire is done -- I hope not. Riverside, Ontario and Fontana have all fallen victim to the same thing -- property values. The trip up Cherry Ave from the 10 will never be the same...
Hey Todd - Your passionate response is probably the best reflection of Auto Club Speedway and what it meant to so many race fans of those that I have received. I was lucky enuf to have Hot Passes to several races there and would likely been facing you in the stands at the entrance to turn 1. I would just stare at the Giant Screen Speed Board where the cars would enter turn 1 at 208mph. The cars were a blur and it was difficult to read the numbers. AMAZING I recently read an article where Mr Penske was quoted as saying that with interest rates this high, the cost of building is excessive. So your thesis of playing rope a dope until they can quietly sell off the remaining property has some merit. It is my hope that this site is just to legendary to meet that fate. And while there likely will not be another race there in the near future, that eventually we will get some world class facility in Fontana. I will be heading there next week and will provide an update. I am also working on an Auto Club Speedway Tribute video. I will be seeking images from great fans such as yourself. I will be including all images received into the video and will have a Special Guest judge and select the TOP 5 images. There will be prizes to the winners and all images will be tagged with whatever name or handle you want on them. Last thing, one thing you left out of your response, was the HUGE Hollywood presence at these events. I have an image of DeBo from the Movie Friday (may he rest in peace) holding me in a headlock for a picture. He was a GREAT actor and race fan. This image will definitely make the video. If you have any images you would like included, you can send them to AcAdapterInc@protonmail.com. Sorry for the long response, but your message was so beautiful I had to give it the response it deserved. Look for the next update video late next week. thx....
When i used to ride my Yamaha R1 9 years ago, I always pick California Speedway as my go to track days. Its close by and the track is always cleaner than other tracks. I hope they reopen it soon because it is my favorite track to go to.
Hey Epic - thanks for watching. I was out at the track today and I have to say it's depressing. They are flattening Auto Club speedway at light speed. All that's left of the track surface now is turns 3/4 and the front stretch. Likely only a couple weeks left before it's all dust. Thanks for sharing your great story. I've heard so many wonderful memories. I will be posting new video soon, so stay tuned. Thx...
Kind of heartbreaking to see the track this way. This was my home track being from San Bernardino and being a huge Jeff Gordon fan as a kid this was my favorite place to go
Hey Ricardo - Thanks for watching... Auto Club Speedway was also my home track, so this seems so unnecessary. All I can hope is that they replace it with something cool. I will be heading back for an update next week, so stay tuned. thx...
Hey JG - thanks for watching. I've seen the plans for the new track, while not a super speedway, it is a short D shaped oval. So if they do build it, we may have racing again in Fontana. I was out at the track last week and it's almost all gone. Stay tuned. Thx...
They still haven’t torn down the grandstands nor the integrity of the shape of the circuit or changed the angle on the banking from front straight to backside! Furthermore the entire infield track is still intact? Why? There has not been any formal announcement on the actual direction and a visual explanation of what the end goal will be for this circuit going forward yet! Why not? Thank you
Hey Don - your observations about the track footprint are exactly correct. They went to allot of trouble to remove the surface without distributing the banking. I am headed there tomorrow, so I'll have an update by the end of the week. Thx...
Very sad, I was kid when I fell in love with NASCAR. And now that I’m 25 and have money to go to these tracks very sad I won’t get too see this legendary speedway and all it’s glory
Hey Chacason - The only bright-side to this is there still are some great tracks on the East Coast. None can replace Auto Club, but as the sunsets on California racing, we can still see some great stuff. Stay dedicated to the sport, your generation is our hope for the future. thx...
Hey Juls - Thanks for watching, Sharing with others is making this a little easier. I look forward to the Grand Reopening. I am sure it will be a huge spectacle and bring back some of the fun we lost. thx..
Man, i went here for my FIRST nascar race in 2020 when Bowman (my favorite driver) won and it was a dream to go to a nascar event. Now at 15 years old, i remember when i was 11 when i went. So, this track will always be remembered. Hope they build a new track in this immense area or perimeter
Hey RRSRo - Thanks for watching... Great story - That 48 car has had a couple tough seasons. I am sure that 2024 will see that 48 back in victory circle. The Hendrick cars are just too good to keep down for long. I am sad to see this track go away, but if they build something like dover here, it might be ok. Whatever they build, I just hope it is worthy of the hollowed ground that it will be sitting on. thx....
Hello All - Since my last visit in September, an enormous amount of progress has been made in removing this track. Most of the work so far, has been on the East end from turns 1 and 2 to the east parking lot gate. Now that the work appears to be briskly moving ahead, I will be visiting the track every few weeks. Of note, they have not touched the grandstands or the press boxes. I really way to be around when they get into that part. I am hoping to find a King Taco sign in the trash, so I can hang it on my wall. I am also on the hunt for any souvenirs I might be able to pick up and share with you. Last I want to say how much this visit has affected me. I didn't think it would, but the reality is really stunning. I have so many great memories of this facility. My team has so many pictures of this facility over the years, that I am going to integrate them into another video. Please share your memories. I may have pictures from that race. Thanks to all for the support I have received. It really is great interacting with all you passionate race fans. I can only hope that what comes next will equal what is being taken away. thx....

Yes, it is sad that California people can keep up with the times and have to have a smaller track. Yes it is sad we can’t keep asphalt tracks around. Everything‘s going to dirt. That’s sad. Yes, I say this I live in Utah and we don’t have a track we have one in Tooele. Nobody can keep up. Nobody knows about it. Nobody knows if the Racing or not they should almost lock the doors sad.🤬🤬😖😏

I am going to make another video and include some awesome pictures that made me smile. I am going to start coming here twice a month now that the pace is picking up. Thanks for watching...
Hey LASportsFan - so I know they are leaving the garage facilities in place, and they very carefully removed the track surface from turn 1 and 2 without touching the banking. They may be building a high banked short track like Dover. I'll be back there in a couple weeks, so we'll watch closely. Thx...
Hey Mark - Thanks for watching... Vegas is a No Fly zone due to Nellis AF base, and I have tried multiple times to get a waiver, but no go. So just ground video is a drag. Charlotte also No Fly Zone because the Charlotte Airport is right there. Now Michigan is a real option. I was going to head to Iowa speedway since Nascar added it to the 2024 schedule and again its right on an airport and I couldn't get a waiver to fly. Long story to say, thanks for the suggestions. I think I will do Michigan around the time of the next Chicago race. By then the weather will be a little more favorable. Next week I am heading back to the east coast. They are closing the Winston Museum, so I am headed there before they close the doors. Keep watching and leave more suggestions. thx....

Hey LA - I was hoping for something like a Dover, but that doesn't sound like what you're describing. I will be headed back over there next week, so I will be interested to see if they will be using any of the existing track shape. @AcAdapterInc 1-mile track indeed. Dover track shape would have been great or a 1-mile track Talladega shape. I'm going to be honest with you here: I never got to attend The Speedway. I always wanted to. I pass by it almost every day. Did watch some of the races on TV when I had the chance. Hope for the best for this track.
@@losangelesdogerscal well it was a great track, they use to display the speed into turn 1 and it was consistently 208. Just blistering fast. I was at the Nashville champions parade today. The parade was a bust but the driver interviews were great. I will be posting in the next day or so... thx..
I refuse to believe that a 2 mile oval as spectacular as Fontana is going to be reduced to 1/3 the size! Well, all that will remain of this oval are the good memories, specially from 2015, when we had the best race in history with the IndyCar's racing machines making more than 300 overtakes. Goodbye 2 miles Fontana's track, it was a great pleasure to meet you! :'(
Hey Diego - Thanks for watching. It is hard to look away from this sad event. At least I am finding an enormous amount of positive stories about events at this facility.
It was a great place to hang out and watch racing. I hope whatever comes next will live up to the legend it will be replacing. I will be here all month, so stay tuned for updates. thx...
I'm gonna guess that you are a Pisces.
Hey Austin - Thanks for watching... Oddly enuf, my brother is a Pisces and he thinks nascar is a waste of time. So, no I am one of those loves me some nascar folks. You did make me laugh tho, so Thank you for that.... Stay tuned more great stuff ahead. thx...

Hey Bad A - I think you summed this whole thing up with a level of precision not seen. I've been out there multiple times over the last 90 days, and it never gets any easier. I will be posting an update soon, so stay tuned. thx...
