  • 19/10/2024: EP02: In this episode, I kick off the day with a hearty breakfast at Parkgate Farm before setting out for one of the most thrilling and challenging routes in the Lake District - Hardknott Pass and Wrynose Pass! 🏞️ The steep, winding roads and sharp turns made for a scary but unforgettable experience. At the peak of Hardknott Pass, I even took a tumble from my bike! Thankfully, I was fine with no injuries and continued on to complete the adventure through Wrynose Pass. Stay tuned for a different side of the Lake District in Episode 3, where I’ll showcase its serene beauty instead of its wild roads! 🌄🚴‍♂️

    Sorry to see the bike down. Hopefully, there's not much damage. My wife and I rode our bikes over a couple of months ago. Such a beautiful area

      Thanks so much for the kind words! Luckily, the bike came out with little damage of mirror-nothing major. I bet it was amazing to ride through the Lakes together with your wife; it’s such a breathtaking place to explore, even if the roads keep you on your toes! Hope you both had an unforgettable adventure, and thanks for watching. Ride safe!

      Thank you for watching and subscribing! I totally get what you mean it can be a bit problem riding alone, especially on challenging routes like the Lake District passes. Having friends along definitely makes it easier and more fun! It was intense riding in lake district passes and I learned a lot from the experience. Hope you get the chance to try it out with a group someday; it’s definitely worth the adventure! Let me know what you think of the next episodes. All the best, and ride safe!

    You need to put a foot down when your motorcycle stops - otherwise it will fall over. You may want to watch "Doodle on a motorcycle". Doodle is a tiny woman who can teach you how to pick up an overturned motorcycle alone. Maybe you should get a smaller motorcycle. You clearly have difficulties handling a bigger one. Many people have crossed Hardnott Pass on smaller motorcycles in the rain. Give it a try! Ride safe!

      Thank you for your feedback and suggestions! You’re absolutely right putting a foot down is critical when stopping, and I’m working on improving my techniques to handle situations like this better. However, I think I fell because of loosing vision and focus. I’ve seen some of Doodle’s videos, and her tips are fantastic especially for picking up a heavy bike.
      GS is definitely a big bike, and while I’m still getting used to its weight, it’s been a great adventure companion. I chose it for its long-distance capability and versatility, but I’ll consider trying smaller bikes in the future for challenging routes like Hardknott Pass.
      Thanks again for your advice, and I appreciate you watching and engaging! Ride safe and happy adventures!

    I tackled Hardknot a couple of years ago on a Ducati Multistrada. Fortunately, in dry conditions! Still managed to stall it on one of the steepest parts but was able to continue without a drop. A very memorable experience.

      Mine was also memorable for me 😀. I should have been more prepared for these steep roads. But it was unforgettable trip! Will go there again in summer 😀

    Astounded the bike continued to run after the drop! I would think it would have a tip-over sensor to kill the engine? At least the good news is the sun came out while you were stopped! 😊Such a beautiful place. Still trying to figure out the drop. At first I thought you stalled because too tall a gear, but see you were in first gear. Perhaps the rear tire spun on the wet pavement and the traction control intervened, killed the drive at the worst possible moment?

    • @RoamWithImran
      @RoamWithImran  3 місяці тому +1

      I am also trying to figure it out myself. I think I might have been less attentive due to the cracking sound made by the bike traction which caused the fall. I should have been looking ahead. Yes, I was lucky that sun was out 😀 and there was no injury

    as long as your ok, your lucky it was quiet with cars it gets harder, but I think Indian mountain roads are a bit more challenging

    It took me quite a few attempts to get up that steep bit in 2016 in my Ford Transit van ! The road was fairly dry but had wet patches ! Wet in the wrong places !

    Brother, The stock GS does not have good quality of handguards and mirrors. Also go for aftermarket crash guards which covers the full body and the boxers cylinders. If they were attached on the bike, you would not have to worry to push the bike down or pull it to the road. You should also go for few hours training on enduro or how to tack big bikes problem. If you want to do rain riding or little offroad and mainly on road, then get yourself 50 50 Tires on the bike.
    WISHING YOU SAFE ADVENTURES, ALLAH HIFAZAT FERMAYE

      @@muqtadakamal9569 Aameen!! thank you so much brother for your kind words & advice!! I have taken screenshot of your comment and will look for the stuff. I have crash bars but I think these are just basic. Also really need training on picking the bike up… it’s great idea to have enduro training! Next trip will be well prepared 🙂
