    I recently ordered that Star Club CD/DVD set and I really only got it for the cover, but after your review, I CAN’T WAIT to hear it! The DVD disc should be great too!

    I REALLY want that Beatles Christmas Messages CD. I still have no idea why an official version was not released along with the 45s. Would have also made such a nice Christmas gift for family members who no longer have a record player.

    Hey Joe, how very kind of Robert to send you such terrific VCLT. It's cool to find out that he was once "in the business". That truly fascinates me. It's all very interesting and worthy of your collection! Take care...

    Yes. The Decca CD is The Dr. Ebbett's transfer. All but one song is sourced from the 1970's Deccagone Bootleg 45's, which are the best sounding vinyls. They were the creation of one Joe Pope, a Boston area Beatles Fan Club guru leader.

      hootenhtn -Joe Pope who was an early rival to Mark Lapidos on the Beatles convention front in the 70’s

      Yes, Joe was the first to publish a Beatles Fanzine called "Strawberry Fields Forever" in the early 1970's. You got the Deccagone singles with your subscription plus a fexi-disc every Christmas with unreleased tracks. In 1975 he discovered a few boxes in a warehouse that contained the Stereo version of "The Beatles Vs. The Four Seasons" still sealed and sold them through the fan club for $20.00 each. I bought 3.

    It all looks very nice, glad you will enjoy it. I picked up a sealed The Knack LP today for $10 kinda beatles related .

      Robert Pfeiffer - I can't thank you enough, Robert. Yes, I recall people at the time in 1979 saying that The Knack were "the new Beatles".

      Robert, will you be my friend? LOL This was very generous of you to send Joe all this great stuff. There is so much different Beatles items out there and videos like this are fun to watch because they show so much I've never seen or heard if before. Take care Joe, and Robert.

    Very nice of the VCLT by Robert.I have never seen that 12" blue EP before.Interesting back story also with his connection to Dr. Ebbetts (I've got a lot of original Dr. Ebbetts CDs and they sound great).Thanks for sharing the video.

    Hey Joe, nice group of items you've got there... Wanted to tell you, although you probably already know, that Wyncote label that the "Beatle Mania!" LP by 'The Liverpools' was on was sort of a special products division of Cameo/Parkway Records.

      BCashion1962 - I didn't know this, though it looks like Parkway, now that you mention it.

    The material on "Incredible!" was lifted from The Beatles "Not For Sale" album. Take Care, Marc

      @RobertP_1960 6 років тому

      SilverShorts52 actually they came out same week the original source gave it to both parties..only Not for sale was color and full lp

    • @MarcRW
      @MarcRW 6 років тому

      Hi Robert Pfeiffer. I actually had a Reel To Reel copy of The Beatles Not For Sale months before the vinyl came out. If the tracks came from the same source, then why wasn't "Shout" included on the Incredible! album? I know who the original source was. My personal friend started making Beatles/Solo boots beginning with "Collector's Items' among other artists. I was his source for the album" That'll Be The Day - The Music That Inspired The Beatles, The Original Hits - By The Original Artists" . Most of the songs came from my own personal collection. Take Care, Marc

    • @RobertP_1960
      @RobertP_1960 6 років тому

      I don't doubt it, my source lied to me, the reel I was sent didn't have shout, and at the time it was supposed to be unique. I was shocked when I saw Not For Sale out the same week, and mine was so much more crude release. The only thing that saved it was it was on blue vinyl. Anyway thanks for the info.

    Nice video, great to see all the stuff. I am thinking about getting the Beatles at the Star club on CD (not sure what release I'll go for, since there are numerous). It'd be good to know why aren't you too much of a fan of the Star club tapes? Is it because of the sound quality?

    • @MeanMrMayo
      @MeanMrMayo  6 років тому +1

      MrPicofmylife - Yes, it's mostly due to the sound quality. But another thing is, this release was touted as being very historic, but it's not so really; because the real important formative years of the Beatles in Hamburg were 1960 and 1961 (with Pete Best). This December 1962 recording was well after they'd gotten Ringo, and in fact were already signed to a Parlophone record contract, and had already released "Love Me Do" that past October. So this was like a return to Hamburg after they had already "made it". The one interesting factor of this recording is that the songs were still largely oldies, before the Beatles started doing mainly their own music.

    • @MrPicofmylife
      @MrPicofmylife 6 років тому

      Thanks for a very well-reasoned answer. I sometimes thought how great it would be having a 1960-61 recordings of live Hamburg performances. Anyhow, I would still pick up this unique treasure of the early Beatles with gladness.

    Do you have The LP by The Bugs?

    • @hootenhtn
      @hootenhtn 6 років тому

      Typo: The Buggs. LP was on the Coronet label. You can find some of the (kinda laughable) tracks out here on youtube.

    Is that Star Club release on the misterclaudel label? If not, what label? I never much cared for the Star Club stuff, but your description of the item in your hand does peek some curiosity.

      Just grabbed a copy from jagamart.com It's not on their site currently, but I made an inquiry. It's not listed because of limited quantities on hand, but they still have a few. I too am looking forward the rare video.
