You should hang vines from the islands, not only for looks but for your own safety even though there is water below you. Maybe some moss hanging combined with glow berries and the vines may also look pretty good I think.

3:24 so if thats gonna be the main castle the first one you've built is the Barbican (gate house not connected directly to the keep) and the "main castle" is the keep.
14:17 turrets. people in medieval England would built these over towers for multiple reasons, less materials, easier to build if the terrain didn't allow for towers and they just look cool.

When fighting skeletons, get closer, when the arrow hits your shield, it will reflect and hit itself, then you can also get a free swing if you hit them as soon as the arrow hits them. Makes fighting them a lot easier, but it does drain your shield durability quick.
Tip: F3 + B shows entities. Useful for both finding dropped items and also seeing where mobs are in dark areas.

This exact style of Minecraft let's play is ~exactly~ what I have missed about older content. You don't skimp out on the more mundane tasks, you bring us on the journey, and you don't try to sell a reaction. It's what I've loved about the regular let's play for so long but this one feels different. I hope you are able to avoid falling into tridents for a long time :D

Just wanted to let you know you are one of only two mc youtubers i still watch. That is largely due to your style of editing and content. I appreciate the vanilla approach to the game i love but don't play much these days, but even more i appreciate you not patronizing the viewer with bloated and suffocating editing techniques that try and make a minecraft vid something it shouldn't be. Its simple, relaxing, timeless. You are in many ways a master of your craft, and that is a rare thing. I hope you appreciate that because we appreciate you. In accesibility settings you can tone down or up the enchantment glint. You can also turn on shift toggle when building so your pinky wont hurt.

How about some farms around the foot of the mountain that leads up to the floting castle base your building just to add a bit more character around your castle base you know and hope you have a good rest of your day
you can always add datapacks to your world, things like anti endermangrief, this doesn't have any impact on the gameplay and just feels like vanilla, just a quality of life feature.
He probably would but since he’s on the snapshot he has to wait till the full update
@@crenis6693 datapacks for snapshot usually don't matter, I still use datapacks downloaden for 1.18 in my 1.20.4 world

Hey Dallas, you may consider replacing some of the cobblestone near the upper layers of the island with moss! That way it blends a bit more and isn't such a hard line
hey dont forget you can do torches and everything on the left hand not like in bedrock where you can only but youre shield there.

Yeah, I understand you were terrified and blocking was the first thing in your mind, but avoiding the hits in the first place is also a form of staying alive. The drowned cannot hit you if you are in swimming mode, and that's what I was trying to tell you with that comment. At least I tried, but of course you can do it your way.

you should make a another castle with a lot bigger island so that you can easily walk around the green part without even being close to the edge, maybe the castle could have a courtyard where you can also walk

Hey Dallas, love this series, also you mentioned you wanted cool clouds like in Bdubs vids, luckily those are texture packs not mods so you can just go on planet Minecraft and find a nice cloud texture pack and then addd it to your texture pack folder in Minecraft, works on snapshots.

Since you're making a magical castle, might I suggest taking inspiration from Morrowind? Tel Vos is one of the Telvanni strongholds, and it's basically like a castle except a giant mushroom tower was grown on top of it and I think your build could really be cool if you have a sort of overgrown fungal vibe.
The castle towers are called turrets
