Agreed because this is one of the few channels where he mentions level matching to test the clarity of the speaker. What most people don't understand is you set a speaker at 50% based on your volume control the problem with this is if a particular company sets their product to play a perceived 1-2 db louder then it fools most people into thinking that product is better when it isn't. A particular company can fool many a fool by making their speakers play louder than the competition at 50% of the input source (fooling many into thinking this is being "fair and equal") but as it's played louder they can use an eq to filter certain freqs (like bass) while playing the higher freq clearer making a person perceive it louder thinner and most inexperienced people will initially think it's better to only after listening to a better product which doesn't have eq'd freqs having a more honest sound. I'll admit unless the person mentions level matching I just listen to their reviews casually not technically and take their input as looking for a better reviewer who in my opinion knows what they're talking about. I want reproduction, as per the artist who mixed and performed made it sound, not how some poor products poor attempt of reproduction.

How do the Stormbox speakers perform on low volume audio?
Tribit's SoundMax Plus cuts the audio on the lowest parts of songs (like the start or end of calm songs) or low background ambient sound on videos, when both the source audio and the speaker are low. Can anyone confirm if this also happens on StormBox Micro/Regular or XSound Go?

Does the new Maxsound Plus have auto shut off after around 15 mins like the older version Maxboom "X" had, good sound but no good with any Alexa echo or similar as if no sound going through for about 15 mins the speaker turned off and you had to press on to wake it up again, hopeless for use with Echo dot as it needs to be on all the time in case it says something, fine for music but that's it... perhaps it has the auto off function as an option now ??
Do you have thoughts on how the Maxsound plus compares to the Anker Soundcore Boost? They’re basically the same price.
Excellent comparison , well done , most detailed reviews . for me it is Maxsound for all round performance, it can sound like the xsound go and bigger if you want to. I think you need to be paid for this test.
first time i got free speakers, i was happy enough for that 👅 yeah maxsound plus is the class act here.
i have a chance to get a Masound Plus and i have recently just fallen in love with the GO ... if the MS PLus does the same thing as I have experienced before I may not be able to pass the deal up.
Basically what i mean is I loved the Surf (The GO's little brother so to speak) ... if the improvements to the MS PLus versus the Go is as good as the Surf to the GO is .... well then Tribit's only issue for me is each one higher in models .. is knocking the previous one out of the "My favorite" spot. lol

How will the Trust Zowy Max Stylish Bluetooth Speaker be, will it have a similar sound quality?
I have not found reviews of that model on UA-cam.
Hi Alan! They're some funtions there are really important for a teacher and I havent seen no one reviewing on that way. One is been able to be great on voice, great middles; been loud enough to a good size room with some noise AC ON; having battery long enough to play 9 hours with no recharge (we really have outlets enough for that; and the most important to be able to connect to a bluetooth mic so we don have to loose out our voices in a few years. All that in a portable speaker would be a huge success with professors.

Thank you for your brilliant review. I have a question maybe you can answer? When the two speakers are paired how can you tell which is the right or left channel? To my understanding it's a master and slave set up. Is the master speaker the right or left channel?
thats a problem you cant, i put a small sticker on mine. note once paired only the master will then connect to your device. off the top of my head i think its master thats left.
@@alanrossreviews yes the master is left, but I'll get back to this after i get the stormbox, i have a soundcore flare the one that connects to the phone is left. we can use Poweramp to play one channel and mute the other, go left only or right only.

Tribit must provide a new feature for maxsoundplus which is the pairing of two maxsoundplus. I think they have most balanced of them all, and they deserve to be paired with two devices for party ocassions.

I first bought the maxsound plus. The sound quality is good but for outdoor use I feel was not loud enough so I bought the stormbox and wow the volume is loud enough to use outdoors. Best bang for the buck.

Looking to buy a Tribit Xsound Go for my bathroom and decided to watch this review to see if I should follow through with the plan. I played the audio through my JBL flip 4 speaker and I have to say the flip 4 is such a capable speaker which hardly disappoints. After seeing this review, I'm already looking forward to my Tribit speaker in due course.

How much is the bass difference if compared with stormbox n motion+
Max Sound Plus is a great value. I've bought 2 for myself, and 2 more as gifts so far. I actually use one of mine as mini guitar amp. It really sounds great.

How do you use it as a guitar amp?
@@KenSpears313 if your using a guitar with an active pickup just get a 1/4 mono to 1/8 TRS cable and plug directly into the AUX-IN on back of the speaker.
Be careful with the volume (turn it up gradually) because it will get loud.
You can connect any effect pedal, mixer, or headphone amp to do the same thing with any guitar...Guitar>Pedal>Tribit... Actually sounds better this way because you can get stereo output and effects. Also with a pedal (or mixer) as a buffer the DSP circuit in the speaker wont have as much attack lag or low volume breakup.
Connected either way, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the MaxSound Plus as a ultra-mini amp.
I mean, 24 Watts, portable, good bass, and tiny in size when compared with any actual guitar battery powered amplifier.
And for the price you wont find any cheaper & compact way to jam your guitar with full range tone.

I got the maxsound plus, it sounds amazing, but whenever a quieter part of a song comes in, the speaker goes completely silent, then it plays again on the louder parts. Anyone else has this issue?
Yep, I've had similar issues too.. but with UA-cam vids, like such review. Then I've tried to update firmware, and it helped somehow in a while. But recently I've bought 2 Stormbox speakers.. and almost forgot about Maxsound+ ! 😉
Have 2 storm box micro bought recently in a lightening deal from Amazon. Using with my s10lite. Will buy the maxsound plus in a lightening deal...waiting...

The stormbox is party mode (not stereo), I checked mind and they are playing audio from both speakers (left and right channels).
you are right. i thought they did stereo but they dont, just party mode.
So is it only mono no left and right channel, damn i ordered two because i want a left and a right channel.
I ordered 2. Wasn't expecting stereo so after reading these comments I'm not surprised. I want 2 speakers just because it sounds better to me. Stereo would have been better but for the price I can live with it. 109 bucks from tribit website. A few dollars cheaper than on Amazon. Now Amazon does offer a bundle but it's 1. Black and 1. Blue speaker. But like I said it was cheaper through Tribit. I have 2 xsound go speakers and they sound great. So I figure I can't go wrong.
Hi Alan, why do manufacturers choose a higher voltage, lower amp battery than a lower voltage higher current? i have a 5V 2A power bank that does very good with the boom charging it from low battery while playing music at two thirds volume. But not with the beoplay a1 even at 50% volume, the speaker keeps shutting down even with the power bank plugged in.
well it depends on the power draw of that speaker, the a1 is 60 watts.
There's actually a difference between the Stormbox and the MacBook *portable*... But what will you advice I go with? The Portable seems to be a lil cheaper and I want to get 2 pieces for the stereo effects. I'll be using that with my laptop setup for the most part. At times I'll use just one on the move for close up audio listening, at times podcasts. So which do you advice I go with? Stormbox series or the maxsound plus?

I have all of Tribit’s speakers. I also their over the ear Bluetooth headphone. None of them disappoint. Even though I love the XSound Go I’ve pretty much retired it after getting the MaxSound Plus. The XSG’s lack of bass is glaring when compared MSP. Too glaring. With that said though Im glad you’ve put so much emphasis on the clarity coming from the XGo. especially at maximum volume, which is the volume I played it at. The Stormbox, which is my least favorite of the 3 but I still love. It lives on my bike. It’s the perfect form factor and durability for that. Thanks for your time, energy and due diligence in comparing and demoing these speakers.

Does the same hold true when paired with an external dac connected via line out aux in. Basically how much of a role do the internal dacs of these speakers play in the overall sound quality and frequency response? An external dac would test the actual speaker quality, right? I'm looking for a wired portable speaker.

@@roobaba5415 well an external dac into the aux i havent tested. my guess is it will not sound as good as bluetooth via its own dsp as the aux stage is just an afterthought.
@@alanrossreviews Ok thanks for your input. I was hoping it would make a positive difference (was eyeing the xsound go). Testing it with a cheap Indian speaker made a big difference. Bluetooth was very meh and hollow. Fulla2 via aux was richer, more detailed with great bass extension. But the Tribit should have better internals I guess.
Thanks for the review I have just bought a tribit stormbox and so far have been happy with the sound and features of the speaker.i have come across one issue and would appreciate it if you know anything about it .i currently have been reporting the problem to tribit and so far all suggested steps have failed to solve the problem..although they are still trying. problem is with latency through the auxiliary connection! I understand through Bluetooth there would be some but my other speaker being Harmon kardon onyx 2 doesn't have this problem.i use it as a speaker connected to my pioneer ddj400 dj controller and are having a hard time beatmatching music due to the latency ,but it's fine with the Harmon speaker . I also checked with my TV plugged into headphone jack and the same results. Is there any thing you know if it were you finding the same thing with your unit?many thanks In advance
i havent tried but if i get a chnace i will. however there is no reason for latency over aux, shouldnt be anyway.

have you heard it against the earfun uboom? stormbox better form factor but only party mode pairing with another stormbox. i didnt realise at the time of the video.
i wanted to mess with the passive radiators right away so i poured some water onto one and noticed the water is leaking or coming right out thru the other passive radiator is this normal

So, Tribit’s new XSound Surf just arrived in the mail and I have to say I’m impressed. Not surprising considering Tribit’s other budget Bluetooth speakers. The Surf is comparable to the XSound go. Im thinking they may be phasing out The Go because the two speakers are so close in specs and form factor. The main differences are you can pair two Surfs for TWS, the Surf has better Bluetooth and its type C. The only negative with The Surf is that it has a smaller battery, half of the Go’s to be exact. With all the said the sound coming out of the speaker is awesome, considering price of course. It has the clarity of the Go but with more bass. It’s just a smidge more but that smidge makes a big difference. That was my main issue with the Go was the lack of bass but I was willing to overlook that because of it’s clarity. Now I have bass and clarity with the Surf. Please investigate. Oh yeah, and the Surf is a third to a quarter cheaper 😊

the maxsound plus is the better for option for more serious listening. stormbox if you are moving around.

almost identical, tiny advantage to stormbox but maxsound better in every other aspect.
Would have been better if u had used the binaural mics but no doubt the comparison was superb and one question for you hope u will answer; is the max sound plus suitable for outdoor conditions and which of this has greater volume and even less distortions between the maxsound plus and stormbox?
better for imaging not better for accuracy. binaural picks up all the room acoustics, unless your room is identical to mine it colours the sound. So this assumption now held by many that binaural is about accuracy of frequency response is a fallacy. Yes it is the best way to hear imaging and instrument separation but is very slanted towards room acoustics. I have made a conscious decision at this point to favour accuracy over imaging. binaural also requires headphones for playback whereas my recordings do not. Youre welcome 😛 your question was answered witht he max test, did you watch it? your answer depends on whether you will listen on or off axis. the stormbox will favour walkaround sound but strictly speaking the max sound goes louder.

yes durable, just note not great battery IF you play at max. otherwise best value here. clinical sound rather than warm like bose micro.

Brilliant, in-depth video. I listen to classical music and to male, bass-voiced country singers. Which will be better? Will the Soundmax be good for base singers too?
this is an old video, lots more options but the maxsound plus remains a great neutral little speaker, and can handle everything except deep bass.
I bought one but when using the call function the other person can't hear me (my volume is too low for them).
Are you facing the same issue?

There is quite a noticeable difference, the max sound plus sounds a bit more balanced overall I would say but I prefer the more pronounced bass of the storm box.
After xbass on maxsound plus gives 3hour battery backup or without xbass bass it's give 3hour??

Excellent review 👏 battery data is disappointing on the stormbox with an advertised 20 hrs. That's quite a drop-off at max volume. I purchased the stormbox for cycling hopefully it gets loud enough that I don't have to run it at max volume ever.
battery claims are quite meaningless, louder and more bass will mean shorter battery life, its just how it is.
How many hours live Stormbox at 100%vol?
@@mowglimowgli4971 I actually returned it battery is not very good max vol under 5 hours. I used it riding bike so usually vol is at least 75%. JBL flip 5 is my new portable speaker much louder and better battery!

are you going to be moving around or listening on axis? maxsound plus is best for me but for dispersion stormbox will win out and will be suited to corner placement if you are after bass enhancement.

Nice review, glad I skipped on the JBL. That maxsound plus does sound a lot clearer than the stormbox, but this is watching the review with headphones on. I think when I'm outside listening the stormbox will sound much better. Ordered the Stormbox.
Which do you think is better for laptop movies? Single Maxsound Plus vs. double Stormbox? Reason is if I already have one Stormbox and want to get another speaker to watch shows.
the problem is once you starting pairing bluetooth speakers it adds more delay which is fine if you can adjust for it (audio sync delay) but otherwise not so good. i wouldnt say any of them were good for movies where deep bass is the big deal. i would be looking at something bigger or stick with headphones?

for me the mini 3, xsound too bass light but i have gen 1 and i am told gen two is better. mini 3 can be used 360 mode or on its side for on axis.

Initially my interest was between the Sony XB23 and JBL Flip 5 but after watching Alan’s channel I discovered Tribit. Never heard of this brand before and I didn’t think much of them until I did a search on YT and discovered how universally respected they are for their sound quality. If you listen to the sound tests with headphones on you will hear the difference. Tribit is clearer and better balanced than the Sony and on par if not better than JBL and Bose (depending on your sound preference). Tribit gives very good sound quality without skimping on features and giving you all of this at a much lower cost.

I honestly don't get how Bose is considered a reputable company or how some people think their speakers are any good. We had one at work that was used in a private training room but had to be replaced due to the lack of clarity in the mids (this wasn't just me, but a few co-workers too) which they turned around replacing it with a second Bose with similar problems. In the end, someone went and found in the storeroom an ancient Harmon Kardon sub sat which sounds leap and bounds better at all range and all volumes. The Bose speakers made the dialog in the mids dialog so muddled to the point it was distracting, it has that distinct "Bose sound" which to me is awful but then I do use better than average speakers (studio monitors and my portable bt speaker is the UE boom 2) so I have a minimal expectation to sound first of which is clear speaking dialog.
@@MrWirelesscaller Bose literally built its brand off the sides of the 901 speaker. Good marketing is all. Definitely not high quality and you can find much better for the money
I have sony srsxb23, n I hate it's bassy sound... so I'm confused between x sound go n max plus. I love clear n balanced sound.. n concerned if I would love the tribit speaker as it cost half or 1/3 price of Sony's. Pls reply 🙏🏼
I couldn't be happier with my Maxsound Plus. I prefer its sound to my Flip5's is every regard. I have not done a high volume comparison yet but that's not how I use it anyway. Have 2 x Aiwa Exos-9 for that!

Sir my doubt is jbl flip 4 is having both front facing speakers so if we place jbl flip 4 facing towards us we could get a total of 8×2=16 watts of total sound output. But in Tribit Stormbox the speakers are facing towards the sides so if we place Stormbox facing towards us we will get only less sound output. So for getting better sound output we have to place the speaker either on right direction or left direction facing towards us. But if we place the speaker on right or left facing towards us we are only getting a 12 watt sound output and the other 12 watt speaker is facing backward so how could we get a better audio quality than jbl flip 4 and flip 3 and how could we get a immersive sound experience?. Please clarify my doubt bro
