I thought you might like a look at this rare and very original, 1968 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible. It's powered by the high performance 383 V8 4 BBL, backed by the four-speed manual trans. That engine and trans combo makes this car very rare. As you can see, it has been left almost entirely original. I always like finding a nice survivor like this. It really is my favorite kind of car to check out. I hope you find it interesting as well...thank you for watching!

With a jumping bass and off-beat syncopation, this is straight from Memphis' Beale Street. The Hammond organ and electric guitar play together as longtime friends, while the melody changes hands from guitar to organ to electric piano. 011

They are my favorite type of cars to look at. Thanks for checking it out my friend!
Thanks for checking it out!
Thanks for checking it out Murray!
Thanks for taking a look, glad you like it!
Thanks for taking a look my friend!
I own this car now...people should give C-bodies more respect, they are great cars. I just got done refreshing the engine with new Lunati cam/lifters, oil pump, gas pump, edelbrock 383 manifold, fluidampr and new rockers/rocker shafts.
That's awesome that you bought it. It really is a sweet car. I actually know a lot of people that really love the Fury's. Good luck with it!
It runs great!! 52 year old engine was pristine inside...just needed a new timing chain and I had some scope creep then.... Getting ready to replace the original clutch and install overdrive in the A833 4-speed.
Thanks for watching and sharing our videos, we appreciate it!
It would be a fun summer cruiser. Thanks for taking a look!
It is fun to find such an original survivor. Thanks for having a look Matt!
Just the opposite, they are expanding pretty rapidly. They just opened at new dealership in Detroit. That makes four locations now : St Louis, Louisville, Chicago, and Detroit. They have more locations planned as well.
That's cool that you have a nice original one. Thanks for taking a look at this one, I appreciate it.
Glad it brought back some good memories for ya. Thanks for taking a look!
I agree, I definitely prefer rims that are from the right era. Most of the time, I just prefer the stock rims that came on the car.
I think it's because you've seen a couple of videos that were shot at the Detroit showroom. That is the newest location and they are still building up the inventory.
It's amazing how we can still remember cars form our childhood so well. My family had an old Ford LTD Station wagon when I was little and I can remember exactly what the seats felt like and what the car even smelled like.
I learned to drive in a '68 Fury I ..4 door sedan. It was the Drivers ED car. I think it was Blue. Not sure. It was a plain Jane. No radio no nothing! It did have power steering.Wow that was in 1969.
Nice car well preserved! Great presentation!
Thanks, I'll definitely give it a look.
I agree, it should probably just be kept how it is.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it. It is a great place to spend some time.
seems like a sweet deal for a big block 383 4 speed convertible mopar
original survivor, it is a showcar lol fantastic i must say. i love original rather than restored, the history just resonates from them
When I was a kid I remember my dad had a Plymouth Sport Fury I think it was the '71.
When I was a kid my family had a 1969 Fury, which by that time had the horizontal headlights. It was a beater in 1979 but it was built like a tank. Will not forget the avocado green interior!
Fury is the right Word for this awsome car Jordan would fix this one up in No time whith you jeff helping him i would love to help but I live 7000 km from you thanks jeff for a great video
i love those magnum rims on old cars, never understood why people put those ridiculous huge chrome rims from the future on some of them
I really miss tourin in my old 68 hard top....440 auto....she'd Fly !!!
Thanks fer the memories your videos bring back to mind !!!
Thanks for watching!
Real nice car
ramblin if you personally owned this vehicle would you change the color or leave it as is
I agree, the original survivors are always cool. Sometimes, when you restore a car, it seems like it takes the soul away.
i can honestly say i've never seen one of these before. it kind of reminds me of a Valiant.
Great video of a great car. Because of you and these videos Country Classic Cars is now a stop on my way to Branson,MO when I go. I think Gateway is next!!!
It's definitely not my favorite color, but on a car this rare it's probably best to leave it how it is.
Nice, though the 383 HP were painted hemi orange. The tamed 383 big blocks were painted the turquoise
383 V8 High Perf/PoliceHigh PerfH-OrangeMopar Paint P4349216
330 HP 383's were painted turquoise...still a 4bbl with zero deck flat top pistons. 383 road runner engine was painted hemi orange and rated at 335 HP. Difference was the 440 375 camshaft and windage tray...other than that, exact same as the 330 engine.
@@lukepokrajac1057 they offered the 383 HP hemi orange for Road runner, as well as the Fury 3 optional upgrade. According to my 68 fury 3 fender tag, it was a special order from the factory for the 383 HP hemi orange 4bbl, flat piston 335hp engine.
@@davidhansen4647 I have the same engine in mine Dave...383 H-code engine. It was all original until I tore into it in 2020 to replace timing chain/gears. Chances are you have the standard 256 cam and not the road runner cam. Mine did not have a windage tray but I installed one when I dropped the pan. All big blocks came with 906 heads, 383, 440, 4bbl and 2bbl. I now have 440 source aluminum heads on mine...huge improvement.
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I remember that car owned by a guy I went to high school with same set up even same color. And if I am right the quarters were changed from rust and it was repainted in 2000 I could be wrong but that set up with that color combo and the worn out seats
Car was purchased new in Manitowoc Wisconsin at Yanda Motors. Fellow ordered it from the dealer as a sold car. He was from New Holstein Wisconsin
Good looking car man Im glad you were able to find one of these still. I have a beige 4 door all factory straight surviving fury 3 and had a green 66. I've been in love with them since i was 17
sweet ride !! leave it alone !!! rare rare rare !!!
It definitely seems like a bargain when you consider how rare it is. Thanks for watching!
The extra chrome ring all the way around the entire taillight area really makes that year’s taillights “pop”. Sans the chrome there looks more plain and boring. I had the sim 68 VIP model, like a New Yorker with a Plymouth badge. Same hot 383 4 bbl set up with a quicker 3:23 rear end. Second gear rubber at 40 mph in a four door hardtop sled. It sure liked gas, tho. Perhaps 12 mpg’s best. $500 at 8 years old, kept her for 15 years from 100,000 to 200,000 miles, no where neari worn out yet. Later got a 2 door 67 VIP with same hot 383 4 bbl. They were loads of fun and great memories, first youth, then just beyond middle age for the 67 VIP. Close my eyes and can still hear the classic Mopar unique step-down starter sound. Or just search for that on UA-cam !! “Everything is on UA-cam”.
Awesome!
Very Nice, people dont understand these cars are not that heavy..They are only 200 pounds heavier for the convertible than a B body Mopar and 130 pounds more with a 2 door hardtop than a same year GTX !! These are Muscle Cars too ! Tire buring power and these are sleepers because people think they are slugs like late 70's and 1980's,1990's full size turds made by GM/Ford and lean burn low compression Moaprs of the later 70's and 80's !
You are exactly right! I own this car and it is very fast, definitely a muscle car. H code 383 with 0 deck pistons...i.e. the pistons are completely up to the deck. I put on some closed chamber 440 source heads and it really runs nice now.
Very slick motor! :) I like rarities
I drove a 68 Sport Fury with a 318, stock hubs, same color. Best car I ever had.
what a great find
Love the Ol' Survivors!! Good stuff Bud!!☺
This car has, for a Plymouth, the extremely rare Tilt-A-Scope steering wheel. It would adjust vertically up and down and by turning the lock in the center of the steering wheel from lock to unlock, one could telescope the wheel in and out about two inches. My '66 New Yorker has this feature and it had about a 0.1 percent installation rate. On Plymouths, the figure was probably even lower.
Thank you for the information
RA what is going on with gateway, they look like they are going out of business.yesterday they released a couple of videos and it look to me they only had a few cars on display, this seems odd.Oh,before I forget that is a really good deal for that car,in that condition
wow, like the 4 speed manual gearbox with V8 engine combination, must be a hoot to drive. Love the original engine with the 2 intakes on the air cleaner, and is that tachometer from factory or installed later?
I had that same exact car when I was a kid had 91000 on it gave a hundred bucks for it ran like a brand new car can't do that nowadays the whole damn country has turned greedy
super rare.4 speed unmolested survivor.too cool.383 v8,wow,!
see the FM converter? that's a look back in time....bring back the 26 cent gasoline...
These are very rare. I also heard that there were only 40 made.I have one of them in storage. The 4 speed makes it a blast to drive. Maybe I'll fix it up one day or I might sell it. Do you know what it's worth?
Nice! You really do a great presentation, very personable personality! Thanks
Thank you, that's nice to hear. I appreciate you watching.
Where is this car now,any idea? Love your videos!
Have the exact same car...but automatic
It's my favorite color. I just sent you and email, I want this car.
Avocado green is the color.
very orginal
