I remember applying those tape stripes on the Fury and Monaco 2 door models at the Chrysler Detroit Lynch Road Assembly plant in 1976-1977. The 440 engine was available on the Police Special many ended up as Michigan State police cars in special order dark blue paint with the gumball red light mounted on the roof.
NY State used these and truckers called them Suncoco specials because of their yellow paint and sunoco blue stripes. This engine looks like a 400 block.

I think someone built this beast ... Pistol grip 4 speed with a 440? HP exhaust manifold's - hopefully it has a dana-60 - (the factory required it 440, 426 with 4 speed, got a Dana rear end, automatics got 8-&-3/4 rear ends) Wonder what torsion bar set up is under it? For 1975 the 400 cubic inch engine was the largest offered to the public by Plymouth. Also in 1975, all 2-door B-bodies shared a common 115 inch and all 4-door sedans a 117.5 in wheelbase, this continued to the last B-body in 1978 and was reused for the R-Body cars of 1979. 1975 Imperial Le Baron, Chrysler New Yorker, Chrysler Newport, Dodge Monaco Police Pursuit, and Plymouth Fury Police Pursuit came with the 440. Transmission options for 1975 were the base 3-speed manual with the slant six and all V8 cars were torqueflite automatics 904/727. Not the original dash. Still a nice hot rod though. Love your videos but these cars seemed to be languishing unsold as the youths rather drive 4 cyclinder foriegn cars and the generation that appreciated these cars are dying off. These cars need to be reduced in price otherwise they just make great UA-cam vidoe content
I'm not all that young (28) but I personally love old V8 cars. I agree that they're too expensive though. I'm looking forward them dropping in price as the old guys die off so I'll actually be able to own one without giving up an arm and a leg
Chris Wiseman yup, although the benefit of the more popular and iconic classics is there is a lot of reproduction companies for parts. Like the tri five chevies are very popular and so parts are easy to find for them
@@chriswiseman5143 Harsh! I don't consider myself an older guy, but if I did, ouch. I love older cars...Im just trying to maximize my income so I can afford them!
My first car was a 1975 Plymouth Fury. I didn't like the car when my parents bought it because they gave my mom's car (1965 Plymouth Fury) to my older cousin. Then it became my car. I was in an accident (not my fault) and it protected me (and the engine) well. I miss driving it.
That car did not come with a 440, nor a 4speed. I think there was a 400 based on the 360 that was available that made about 160 hp. These were not considered a musclecar in the day. In fact you couldn't call any new car a musclecar in 75. They were dark days at domestic car lots.
400's were offered. Last of the mainstream big block engines put into passenger vehicles through 1978. You "might" have been able to have ordered a 440 if the car was either police, fleet, or a big New Yorker or Imperial. Trucks and RV's had them all day long. They are getting scooped up fast from the RV junkyards. Side note**. The 400 was not based on the 360. 400= big block, 360= small block. the 400 was actually the replacement of the earlier 383. You can, use a 440 crank in a 400, and stroke the motor to a 451!
It’s amazing to me how a few subtle changes - adding some cheap rims and tires and removing an awful landau vinyl roof in this case - can completely change the look of a car! Talk about taking an obese “luxo-cruiser” from the malaise era and revealing its “inner-badass”.....👍
i found a 77ish Fury sport with a 383 on CL for a decent price. It was just little to old for me since it probably didnt have much available in the aftermarket for it. Total 70s cruiser tho.
A rare car no doubt and to agree with another comment a good sleeper car. If the 292 V8 in Dad's Galaxie was no good to rebuild, I would've had a 351 Cleveland put in its place. That would be a good sleeper car but the O.E. motor was ok to rebuild.
Very cool car, the fury is something I never really noticed before. It is a mean looking monster definitely a classic I would consider. On another note. Any one has thoughts on the oil filter relocation I've seen it here and there. Any pros or cons? Good or bad..

Version #2 from California had 250 horsepower(Net.)@4000rpm /350 ft.lbs. tor. @3200rpm. Version #3, 260HP@4400RPM/ 355 Ft. Lbs. Torque @3200rpm.
If the gauge mount was black i think it would have looked better. That is forsure a nice car. I would buy that car for my kids when they could drive. And being a pistol grip shifter is cool. 👍
I'm kinda diggin this old mopar....
Sick AF 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad you like it man, thanks for taking a look!
Had 75 Fury with a 360 and Automatic it was. Former Police Car
That's cool you had one. I would imagine it ran pretty strong with the 360 in there.
Love your videos but these cars seemed to be languishing unsold as the youths rather drive 4 cyclinder foriegn cars and the generation that appreciated these cars are dying off. These cars need to be reduced in price otherwise they just make great UA-cam vidoe content
Oliver J. Jackson well I’m 18 and I absolutely love these old cars. I’d much rather have these than any modern car
well I aint too young (28) but I know my sister (20) and I would ABSOLUTELY buy this if we had a chance! and be fighting over who buys it too!
Nostalgia use to have one with my pilots bodies when I did my pilot training almost 40 years ago. We got the the thing for around 650 US dollar 💵
Very cool car!
Thanks Troy, glad you like it!
One my high school buddies had a '75 Roadrunner based on this Fury. It had a 318 and an 8 track player. I thought it was cool. It was so slow.
i found a 77ish Fury sport with a 383 on CL for a decent price. It was just little to old for me since it probably didnt have much available in the aftermarket for it. Total 70s cruiser tho.
Oh Boy What A Sleeper
It's begging to have the trunk full of Shine and tearing up the mountain roads!
Badass!
Glad you like it Doug, thanks for taking a look!
Rare beast, deserves to brought back, and best news, NO SMOG cert needed in CA!
Midnight Gambler I thought smog applied for model years 1974 & newer. Did that change in recent years??
@@marcust510 1976 and newer for pass cars and light trucks
Midnight Gambler oh shit that’s perfect!
@@marcust510 That's why that car is such a deal
I didn't know anyone lived in CA anymore... 🤣
I had the same car, 318 Auto. Would Love to have this sleeper!
A rare car no doubt and to agree with another comment a good sleeper car. If the 292 V8 in Dad's Galaxie was no good to rebuild, I would've had a 351 Cleveland put in its place. That would be a good sleeper car but the O.E. motor was ok to rebuild.
Nice little hot rod.
Very cool car, the fury is something I never really noticed before. It is a mean looking monster definitely a classic I would consider. On another note. Any one has thoughts on the oil filter relocation I've seen it here and there. Any pros or cons? Good or bad..
