If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

I would rather take the Jordans than the 22k. Because I honestly don't care about what happens when I'm 70-90 years old. In my opinion you need to live the best life you can while you still can. What's the point of being a millionaire when you're 80 years old and sitting in chair, barely able to stand up and do anything?
Now if I had the choice between buying shoes and investing $100 into a business, which in 1-3 years might make me wealthy, of course I would do that, but the time windows are important imo. It's a choice of balance, you need to invest into the future, but if you invest too far into the future you might die before you can spend any of your money.

After enjoying your channel for a while and digging the lessons you learned from Grant, it’s awesome to see you breaking down and offering the millionaire baby steps. When I was broke I spent my money because I had to. I do think it took me longer to get to own my commercial building, setup my company, drive traffic, hire team, ect but saving never made a difference because back then my income was negligable. Now it doesn't even matter how many sneakers I buy, cars, watches. We invested heavy into commercial RE 10 years ago. That has been the catalyst to almost all my other investments. I never tried to cut costs once.

"The game is; how little can you spend?" so true. You need to teach this at school. It would save a lot of pain and suffering in the world. As you said "its simple, not easy" but is it not easy because we are programmed to spend more than we make? What if we could shift that programming to spend as little as possible.

    • @donnewmon8561

By the way, $500 per month is also the equivalent of one extra day of work a week at $14.50 an hour. So even if you can barely save anything right now, it’s totally doable if you’re willing to give up spending Saturday on the couch.

    A serious question:
Why do we want to save all the money and have that 5M+ when we’re 75?
So we won’t need to work when we are 75? Then we will get bored and die faster, better to work then as well.
I feel like we should live our life, and do spend some money on experiences: vacation, flights, trips, and even going out with friends.
The only thing that I think is good by doing this is that we take the financial stress out because we know that we have money if we need it at any time… 🤔

Regarding your comment about obtaining financing to purchase a home, at least it is an asset that increases in value annually. I owned a house for 6 years. In 2012 Paid $275k, put down 3%, financed at around 5% APR. Sold the house 6 years later for $440k. Gained $165k in 6 years. If I had leased it, I would have had about the same monthly payment, and in 6 years would have walked away with NADA. And, I got to deduct my interest and taxes from my income taxes. Leasing...again, nada.

Your money does compound but at the moment not even at the rate of inflation, not even in stocks. Though this is especially bad now I think it’s important to note that the 2 - 5 million Marcos would have at 75 would have significantly less purchasing power then it does right now. Not to mention most people don’t really care about the dollar amount they have at the end of their life if they had to live like a Brokie anyways 😂.

Man, I'm 39 and have made terrible life choices and have bad habits. This philosophy, or rather basic rationale may change my life. Thanks, man.

I agree with everything except having millions when you are 75 won’t do you very good if you never enjoyed life.

This does not take inflation into account..
Also, being wealthy at 75 is not a win. Life is about experiences, not a competition of who goes into the grave with the most digits in the bank account. Obviously get rid of debt..but get the beer that you want man, don t take this bs so seriously

Awesome video, but my studies dept has less fees than inflation (1,3%), how can they make money when the money I pay back is worth less than when I borrowed it? (My education was worthless, not arguing with that...)
