I hate it when people say he lost to bunch of ants. He's actually able to hold off the ants, until he got backstabbed by MODOK, who uses his own tech. So he's not just losing to bunch of ants, he's losing to an army of class 2 civilization, while being backstabbed by his subordinate using his own ability, even then he's still not dead and still had a chance. Sure it's plot armor but it's really not as dumb as people say.
Of coz I still prefer him to win and escape the quantum realm. But the point of Kang Dynasty is that even if you manage to kill one variant with so much effort like in this movie, there are still infinitely many other variants. That's what make Kang so scary, there's no need to stick with one Kang. So I believe it's indeed better for this variant to die here.
I don't think he will lose either, since he's a Kang who literally did what other Kang's does not cross... tampering with other realities (especially getting on another Kang's way) and destroying them. So he likely is really confident about his prowess.
But I think the point here is that, he ridicules others like they are an insect... But when a single ant managed to partially pass through his energy shield... That showed him that he is not always right or powerful ("make a god bleed from iron man 2 and infinity war" if you will)
So even if the chance of him losing to those ants are small... It damaged his ego greatly. If this Kang Variant does come back, I do think he is a much greater threat... since unlike other Kangs... He has experienced true defeat for the first time. (Though I wish Kang was introduced more in a much developed manner... not you know... anything since phase 4)

People dont realize that he lost to Highly Developed ants, not regular ones. These ants had spent 1000 years evolving themselves. Kang may have been strong, but when your being ganged up on by hundreds of ants at once, its kinda hard to win. Take the Battle of Wakanda for example. The Avengers got overwhelmed by the hundreds of beasts storming them, and many of those people had enhanced abilities and higher tech.

the problem is that kang wasn't good enough like thanos or even in the comics, in loki he was interesting but in ant man 3 he was a cartoon vilain, instead of chracter developpement, or show his idology to understand he's acts he was just "i'm bad, i kill avengers and galaxy, i'm so fucking powerful" even jonathan major performance was bad, but he's a incredible actor, he play much better in his other movies
So why don't they just scale up the hyper-developed ants anytime there's a threat? Or take some out to with them to study their technology and advance the human race. There wouldn't be a limitation of material because the ants were able to create their tech at a subatomic level, they can just scale those materials accordingly. Ant colonies have tens of thousands of ants, so they could just bring out the ants to solve any threat in the future. It's poor writing and an asspull, that's why it's stupid, and leaves a huge plot hole anytime there's a notable threat if they're not used.

the key is to understand that none of the avengers could have broken the shield in the same way the ants + modok did and kang isn't very durable without it

People need to understand that these ants are basically super Borg: super strong, hyper-intelligent, technologically advanced soldiers with a hive mind.
Kang basically stood toe-to-toe with a Borg invasion fleet, won, and then proceeded in bad condition to try and solo one of the most powerful human Avengers, not even to kill him, but just to collect an item. Dude isn't even full power and he's Thanos level strong.

I see soo many people be like "ugh Kang supposed to be the next crazy powerful big bad then just gets beaten by ants"...like did you pay 0 attention to Hank calling these ants a peak technology civilisation? They're essentially Kang's technology equal and he still survives when it's 1 million against 1?!?

this version of Kang (an exiled Kang) didnt have all his tech from thousands of years in the future. And as far as I know hadn't conquered as many worlds as regular Kang.
those ants had technology that Hank made to make them intelligent and if you add that they fell into a place of the quantum realm where the days for us for them were thousands of years so they developed a type 2 civilization, well It is logical that they were at the same or higher level than Kang and also the fact that there are many thousands of them against Kang.

To the non thinking comic book newbie that didn't pay attention to the film. They weren't just ants. They were an advanced civilization that existed for centuries and created advanced technology. I really don't get people's issue with Kang being beaten here when you remember Hank telling us earlier in the film they'd reach basically a maximum technology civilisation, it's not everyday ants overpowering Kang, its basically Kang power level ants and millions of them at that, the fact he held his own and survived is crazier than the ants overwhelming him.

A Type I civilization is able to access all the energy available on its planet and store it for consumption. Hypothetically, they should also be able to control natural events such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, etc.
A Type II civilization can directly consume a star's energy, most likely through the use of a Dyson sphere.
